From Sunny Beach in Bulgaria on your own. How to get from Nessebar to Sunny Beach

The Sunny Beach resort is a giant beach whose length is about 10 kilometers and width up to 100 meters. The beach is surrounded on all sides by picturesque green hills - an ideal place for a beach holiday. Are there other activities for adults and children on Sunny Beach? Let's find out together!

Beach holidays in Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is, first of all, an ideal place to relax by the sea, because the local beaches are very clean and awarded the Blue Flag.

The beaches of Sunny Beach are distinguished by fine yellow sand, and the bottom here is flat and the sea depth near the shore is shallow.

Entertainment in Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach offers a wide variety of different water activities: pedalos and skis, windsurfing and water parasailing,

as well as hang gliders, yachts and boats, jets and bananas. Fans of land sports will enjoy the outdoor tennis courts, basketball, football and volleyball courts,

mini golf, bowling, bowling alley, bicycles, horse riding, archery and much more...

Sights and excursions

There are no attractions as such at the resort, but there is a large selection of excursions where you can go, for example, for a couple of hours or for half a day.

The closest place to visit is the beautiful city of Nessebar. By the way, you can go there on your own without a tour, which can be reached by public transport.

If you go on your own, you will not be dependent on the fast pace of the excursion and will be able to enjoy walks along the cozy streets of the ancient town of churches.

The next not too tiring excursion is a trip to the “Bulgarian Village”, where a folklore program will await you, as well as dinner in a Bulgarian village and dancing on the coals.

You can also take an excursion along the route Varna-Dolphinarium-Aladzha Monastery or Varna-Balchik. In the latter you will visit the Palace of the Romanian Queen Maria and the beautiful botanical garden.

There is also an excursion to Sozopol, including a visit to the monastery in Pomorie. Then there will be a walk around Sozopol and along the river on a motor boat, as well as a visit to Burgas.

If you love fishing, then you can go fishing on a yacht, where you will enjoy fishing, after which a delicious lunch of fish dishes awaits you.

Amusement parks

The Sunny Beach resort has several amusement parks, but they are quite modest. There is also a Ferris wheel, and also full of trampolines, various rocking chairs and bungee jumps, water slides and other entertainment. The main attraction of the resort for many children and adults is the local water park, built in 2003 and located 10 km from Sunny Beach and can be reached by public transport, just a couple of stops from the resort center.

Nightlife in Sunny Beach

Nightlife on Sunny Beach, as they say, is in full swing... the resort has over 200 restaurants and other entertainment venues, including those in the national style.

Let us also mention some of the nightclubs, discos and bars, such as “Mania”, “Iceberg”, “Soho”, “Golden Apple”, “Lazur”, “Planet”, “Camellia”, “Dulcinea”, “Sirena”.

Sunny Beach also has a summer theater, outdoor cinemas and much more.

Have you found a suitable activity for yourself in Sunny Bureg? Then pack your bags and go on holiday to Bulgaria!

How to optimally plan a trip and how many days to allocate to visit all the most interesting things?

The first thing a tourist who intends to do is to do see the country, rather than just lying on the beach, is to make a list of the places he intends to go to.

1. Northern coast of Bulgaria (1 day)

  • Varna (Roman Baths) – 1.5 hours 43°12’00.1″N 27°55’05.2″E
  • Balchik – 2 hours 43°24’12.0″N 28°08’44.6″E
  • Cape Kaliakra – 1 hour 43°21’41.5″N 28°27’55.2″E

The distance between the points is quite small - less than an hour's drive, but the duration of the entire trip depends on the destination. For example, from Burgas to Varna it takes on average 3 hours to drive, and from the final point back - about 5 hours. You can, of course, swap Balchik and Kaliakra, but the best time to visit the cape is in the evening, when the views are painted in absolutely unrealistic colors.

2. Madara, Veliko Tarnovo (2 days)

  • Stone forest - from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours 43°13’42.0″N 27°42’21.4″E
  • Madara - 2.5 hours 43°16’37.8″N 27°07’00.9″E
  • Veliko Tarnovo (overnight) 43°04’55.1″N 25°38’50.6″E
  • Shipka – 1 hour 42°44’57.6″N 25°19’19.4″E

The Stone Forest is located not far from Varna, so a trip there can easily be combined with a walk through the Roman Baths. In addition, you can go without an overnight stay, dividing everything into two days, but I would advise everyone to spend at least one night in such a beautiful city as Veliko Tarnovo.

3. Sofia and surroundings (3 days)

The main thing to take into account: entrance to all these attractions is strictly until 17-00, so it is quite difficult to fit them into 1 or 2 days, but you can try. The duration of the journey should also be taken into account. For example, traveling from Sofia to the Belograd Fortress by car takes about 3 hours one way.

In addition, in Bulgaria you can visit:

I'm in no way betting on the merits of the places listed below and most of them were simply off our itinerary, although some really didn't impress me enough to put them on the main list.

  • Mineral springs

These are not uncommon in Bulgaria and can be found near almost any resort town. Hot, cold, salty, fresh - there is a wide choice.

We were near Burgas: 42°36’39.9″N 27°23’28.5″E

  • Thracian tomb

I know of two such tombs in Bulgaria. One is located near the village of Sveshtary, the second is in the city of Kazanlak. I wouldn’t go there on purpose, but if the path goes through them, then it won’t be a bad idea.

42°37’32.9″N 25°23’56.9″E

42°34’02.4″N 27°35’46.7″E

43°44’41.8″N 26°46’02.1″E

  • Marine Park in Burgas

The place is easy to visit on the way from/to the airport. This is a beautiful park with cafes, a long beach and charming alleys. We caught them right after the storm, it was a truly magnificent sight. There was so much water there that it really became SEA)

An excellent place where you can easily combine swimming with walks through a multi-level park in the shade of trees.

42°30’04.4″N 27°28’55.9″E

  • Pirin National Park

Perfect for lovers of hiking and picnics. We didn’t have time to visit there, but we wouldn’t mind visiting. You need to go there for the whole day. It is located in the southwest of the country near the border with Greece.

41°44’42.2″N 23°25’45.0″E

  • Melnik town

The smallest city, but at the same time the wine capital of Bulgaria. Not far from the city are the Melnik rocks and the Rozhen monastery. Also close to the Pirin National Park, even closer to the border.

41°31’24.6″N 23°23’27.7″E

  • Cape Emine

Sunny Beach, Emina village. This is a picturesque cape on steep cliffs with a lighthouse and aging ruins. As expected, many legends are associated with this place and all of them have a sad ending.

42°42’06.8″N 27°54’00.0″E

  • Pliska town

This is the ancient capital of Bulgaria with ruins and structures, which is located in the Shumen region. If your road lies through Shumen, then stopping there will be an excellent opportunity to observe the contrast of centuries.

43°21’46.3″N 27°07’30.4″E

In general, Bulgaria is very rich in interesting places. There are many more than on this list. Therefore, Bulgaria is a country where you can travel for a very long time. If only I had money and time)

Have interesting travels and exciting adventures!!!

Less than 100 kilometers from Sunny Beach is the interesting Bulgarian city and resort of Varna. It is the second largest city after the Bulgarian capital Sofia. Its territory contains many iconic attractions, a visit to which will be a wonderful addition to your holiday in Bulgaria.

If you decide to come to the city on your own, then it is best to set aside two days to get to know it, and if you come with an excursion, you can do it in one day, but you will have to see all the sights in a cursory manner.

The Seaside Park stretches along the entire coast of Varna; its total length is about eight kilometers and by this indicator it is the largest park in Europe. Any construction is prohibited on the embankment, so every year a huge number of tourists come to admire this place. But this is not just a good place for walking, there is also a dolphinarium, an aquarium, many playgrounds, attractions, cafes, restaurants and everything else that contributes to a comfortable stay. If you wish, you can rent a sun lounger and enjoy a wonderful holiday on the sandy beach.

Many Bulgarian resorts bring tourists to Varna to visit the local dolphinarium “Festa”, which was opened back in 1984. Dolphins live in fairly spacious pools measuring 12 by 15 meters and about six meters deep. Several dolphins were brought from the Caribbean. Every day the dolphinarium hosts shows with the participation of dolphins and other inhabitants. The auditorium can accommodate 1,200 people at a time, and performances are often sold out. The Dolphinarium is open every day except Mondays; in summer, performances take place four times a day, and in winter only once every 12 o’clock.

Such a landmark as the Roman Baths dates back to the second century AD. Of course, at one time these were massive structures, but now only some fragments remain of them. The Roman Baths are open to the public every day except Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In the above-mentioned Primorsky Park there is an observatory named after the famous scientist Nicolaus Copernicus. The main purpose of this observatory is to observe the Earth's satellites. This is a modern complex that can pleasantly surprise even those tourists who are far from astronomy. However, visiting this place is only possible with prior reservation.

15 kilometers from Varna is one of the most significant attractions of the country - the Orthodox monastery of Aladzha. Its peculiarity is that it is not built of stone or any other material, but carved into the rock. Here you can find cell rooms where monks previously lived. The first hermits began to settle in these places in the 6th century, and the appearance of this monastery dates back to this period. Numerous frescoes that once decorated this monastery have practically not survived to this day.

Inside, the monastery is divided into separate rooms: a temple, monastic cells, a chapel, a refectory, and a kitchen. The chapel is the best preserved; here you can even see fragments of some frescoes. Temple icons are kept in a small museum located near the entrance to the monastery territory. In the same museum you can purchase various religious symbols and souvenirs.

When going to this place, you should pay attention to the fact that the monastery is open to tourists from 9 to 18 hours (lunch from 12 to 13), but not every day, but only from Wednesday to Sunday. When going to this place, it is advisable to take good and comfortable shoes, as you will need to climb metal stairs and climb steep slopes.

There is a unique structure in Varna called the Stone Forest. At first glance, it may seem that this is a man-made structure, but in fact, man has nothing to do with it. In this place there are concentrated stone pillars that look more like columns. They are 5 to 6 meters tall and actually somewhat resemble a forest. Scientists have concluded that these stone structures are natural stalagmites, formed naturally about 50 million years ago. This forest is located about 15 kilometers from the city and the most convenient way to get there is by taxi. You can visit it any day and at any time of the day.

There are also several noteworthy museums in Varna. One of them is the Museum of Archeology, which is one of the largest museums in the country. By visiting this museum, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the beautiful and very rich heritage of the city. The museum collection contains more than 50 thousand exhibits, which are divided into different thematic zones. The pride of the museum is a collection of objects and products made of gold, which was found during excavations near Varna and dates back to the fifth century AD.

The exposition of the naval museum includes approximately 100 thousand exhibits. It was opened in Varna in 1879, and gradually its exhibition expanded and increased. Guns, warships, missiles, cars, and helicopters are on display for tourists. Directly in the building you can see maps, plans of battles and military operations, military documents, and awards.

May 27, 2016 11:37 am Burgas region, Nessebar, Veliko Tarnovo + 6 cities - Bulgaria August 2015

And so why exactly Bulgaria...

1. Bulgaria Although it is part of the European Union, you can apply for a Bulgarian visa there, not a Schengen one. Bulgarian visa much cheaper and you don’t need to go to get your fingerprints.

With a multiple-entry Bulgarian visa, you can also visit neighboring countries, for example, Turkey, Romania, Macedonia.

2. If you choose as your location Golden sand and then be prepared for a noisy endless party. In Golden Sands, somehow there is a significant difference in the sea throughout the entire 10 km of the village. The most beautiful sea, a stunning turquoise hue at the very beginning of Golden Sands. The color of the sea there is incredibly similar to the Caribbean Sea.

3. If you want to not just lie on the beach, but see the country, then the first place you should go is the city Veliko Tarnovo. You can get there by buses with transfers from any region of Bulgaria, but it will take a lot of time. The most convenient way is by car. There are also excursions there. Veliko Tarnovo is a wonderful ancient city located in a very hilly and mountainous area. From the cafes and observation decks there is a wonderful view of the city, which was once the capital of Bulgaria. The first mention of Tarnovo in historical monuments dates back to the 9th century; in 1186-1393 here was the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, the place of coronation of the Bulgarian kings and the residence of the archbishop, from 1235 - the Bulgarian patriarchs. 6.5 km north of Tarnovo is the Transfiguration Monastery. The active monastery is located under steep cliffs.

4. In Veliko Tarnovo, you must visit the ancient Tsarevets fortress. Entrance to the fortress is paid. It is located on the hill of the same name, right in the city center. This hill is not easy. Archaeological excavations have discovered the remains of ancient people who lived here in the second millennium BC.

The fortress itself was built in the 12th century, and served as the main fortification for the royal power and patriarchy from 1185 to 1393.

The fortress wall has been preserved very well. The Patriarch's Palace is perhaps the most luxurious building of the entire fortress. It can be seen from anywhere in the city; it forms the silhouette of the fortress.

5. The next interesting place in Bulgaria is the Castle in the village of Ravadinovo "In Love with the Wind". The castle, although a new building, is very impressive. You can spend a pleasant afternoon there. The main advice here is not to make a mistake with the time of your visit. The ideal time is early morning (there are almost no tourists yet) and sunset (this is especially for photographers). There is an entrance fee to the castle.

6. Another pleasant day in Bulgaria can be spent in one of the oldest Bulgarian villages - Arbanasi. Not far from the city of Veliko Tarnovo. A small Bulgarian village with a rich history and many churches, monasteries and attractions. One of the monasteries in the village of Arbanasi is the monastery of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which belongs to the Veliko Tarnovo Metropolis of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

7. The next must-see place is Cape Kaliakra. Cape Kaliakra is located 12 km from Kavarna. It protrudes into the sea for 2 km.

At the entrance to the cape you can see an obelisk in honor of 40 Bulgarian girls who, according to legend, tied their braids and threw themselves from the cape into the sea, just so as not to be captured by the Ottomans. On the territory of the cape we see the ruins of an ancient fortress, the remains of Roman baths, etc. To this day, household items from the times of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome are found here. In one of the caves there is a small museum where you can see these artifacts with your own eyes.

On the way to the cape you can enjoy endless fields of bright yellow sunflowers. The most beautiful photos from Bulgaria can be taken here.

8. Another wonderful Bulgarian town - Varna- the sea capital of Bulgaria. Varna is a famous Black Sea resort in north-eastern Bulgaria, the recognized tourist capital of the country. This is a historically developed resort area with rich natural resources, one of the most important and largest on the Black Sea and in Eastern Europe. In addition, Varna is a city with a very rich cultural life, claiming the title of European Capital of Culture 2019. Prices in Varna are much cheaper than in other parts of the country.

Lots of greenery.

9. Sozopol. The charm of this city cannot be expressed in words. This is one of the oldest cities in Europe. I really wanted to feel surrounded by ancient architecture. Sozopol is located 35 km south of Burgas on a small picturesque peninsula. The ancient part of the city is an architectural reserve. It is often called "Harmanit" because of the many mills - "harmans" - that were located here in ancient times. You can go in any direction - the city is beautiful everywhere. Sozopol seems to be created for romantics and connoisseurs of antiquity. It is impossible to get lost in this city, it is tiny - there are only 4 thousand inhabitants and almost everyone speaks Russian. Young people easily switch to German and English. The city is built up with buildings no higher than three or four floors. Sozopol is divided into two parts: the Old and New Town, with a park and a beach between them. Family hotels and hotels are concentrated in the New Town. You can also live in the Old Town. But very noisy in the evening. It's good to walk and relax there. I advise you to see the Old Town not in the evening, when there are a lot of cafes and shops open there and tourists roam in crowds, but early in the morning. You will see a completely different Sozopol, a real quiet, ancient city. Sozopol is an excellent option for accommodation if you are going on vacation with children.

12

Nothing will escape your gaze.

10. Ovech Fortress is located in Bulgaria east of Provadiya, 53 kilometers west of Varna and 410 kilometers east of Sofia. The Ovech fortress is located in Bulgaria east of Provadiya, 53 kilometers west of Varna and 410 kilometers east of Sofia. Historical sources present this place under various names. The oldest name is the Byzantine Provat, the Bulgarian name is Ovech, and the Turkish name is Tash-Hisar, which means “stone fortress”.

Archaeological studies have shown that this fortification was successively used by the Byzantines, Thracians, Bulgarians, Romans and Turks in the third - early 7th centuries, and later in the period from the 10th - 11th to the end of the 17th century. Events related to the reign of Tsar Ivaylo in 1277-1280, the campaign of Count Amadeus VI of Savoy in 1366, as well as the campaign of the Polish-Hungarian king Vladislav III Jagiellon (Varnenchik) in 1444 took place here. Try to arrive at the fortress late in the evening. From the fortress you can enjoy the stunning Bulgarian sunset. Entrance to the fortress is paid. But we arrived in the evening and there was no security anymore, so we got in for free.

24

The fortress is open all year round.

11. Stone forest(broken stones) is a unique natural phenomenon, which has no analogue in the world. Located 20 km from Varna towards Sofia. The tourist center is the central group, 800 m long. Other groups are scattered over an area of 50 square meters. km. Geologists from all over the world visited the stone forest and tried to unravel its mystery. Officially, there are 15 hypotheses. The most popular version is that there was a sea in these parts 50 million years ago. Geologists called it the Lute Sea. Over time, three layers formed at the bottom of the sea. The lowest layer consisted of a gray-yellow marl base, on which a thick layer of quartz sand formed, the uppermost layer consisted of limestone. Over time, the water left these places. Under the influence of atmospheric conditions, the upper layer began to collapse. The lime-rich rainwater from the upper layer began to penetrate into the lower layers of quartz sand. Thus, the layers began to be firmly welded together and form large stone pillars from top to bottom, similar to the growths of stalactites that are found in caves.

An interesting fact is that many columns are hollow - that is, empty from the inside. So, according to another version, plants similar to tropical mango trees grew here. Stone pillars formed around the plants, and the plants rotted and over time, wastelands formed in the pillars. Entrance to the reserve is paid.

12. Nessebar- the pearl of Bulgaria: a masterpiece of architecture that has survived to this day. The city is located on a rocky peninsula 850 m long and 300 wide, 37 km north of Burgas.

Nessebar is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It has been proven that its history dates back at least three millennia: every year archaeologists discover new traces of ancient cultures and civilizations that lived on the peninsula. Nessebar is included in the list of world cultural heritage: in 1956 it was declared a museum city, and since 1983 Nessebar has been under the auspices of UNESCO.

Old Nessebar is an example of a miracle. Several centuries ago it went under water, and only a piece of land 850 by 300 meters remained in place, where all 40 city churches were collected. “Underwater Nessebar” is clearly visible from a boat in good weather.

Good Dan or Hello!

This is how Bulgarians greet. “Eh,” I thought sadly, looking at the rain outside the window (Again! What kind of summer?!) - and in Burgas it’s now 35°C, sunny, smells of the sea and flowers... They greet you so warmly there...

Well, let's put all this sentimentality aside and begin our story...

We vacationed in Bulgaria this summer.

sunny Beach- part of the city of Nessebar, Burgas region.

The journey was spontaneous. It seemed like we weren’t going to, but a week before the start of the vacation we suddenly decided: shouldn’t we warm up somewhere? This summer, even I, who hates the heat so much, prayed for the hot sun (usually we always took trips exclusively during the velvet season).

We decided not to make a splash and chose a modest holiday option.

Pros of holidays in Bulgaria:

  • Budget-friendly enough
  • Not as hot as many southern countries
  • Quite cheap food and fruit (many Russian grandmothers prefer to vacation with their grandchildren in this country for this reason)
  • No temporary adaptation for residents of the middle zone. Time is like in Moscow.
  • And, of course, healthy sea air
  • Friendly Bulgarians

TRAVEL

Ticket price for two (7 days/8 nights, meals breakfast/dinner, hotel "Slavyansky" 3*):

45,800 rubles

This includes: hotel reservation, round-trip flight, medical insurance and visa. The visa is simple and can be issued within a few days. You only need a foreign passport and one photo 3.5x4.5 cm. The only inconvenience is that all these documents can only be obtained at the airport before the flight.

Flight from Moscow takes 3.5 hours

The bus will take you to the hotel in 40-50 minutes. During the trip, as usual, the guide will tell you about the features of the Bulgarian language and how to behave in this country.

Here are a few examples (I’ll put it in a quote for those who are interested):

  • Do not take your passports anywhere and keep them in your room. Just “strictly”.
  • About “nice” grandmothers and children who will try to treat you to fruit and then demand money for it (I don’t know, we haven’t come across any of them).
  • About the language: Bulgarians, when answering “no,” nod their heads back and forth, and when answering “yes,” they shake their heads left and right. There is also a legend that this was invented in order to confuse the Turkish invaders, who threatened with death if you did not renounce your faith. But I think that this is still a legend and nothing more. It’s just the way Bulgarians respond. Why not?
  • Forward direction denoted by the word " right". A right in a word it's clear.
  • And the guide also told us that the word “shirt” among the Bulgarians means mother and a funny story about how one Russian boy complained to a passing person, pointing to the top floor of the hotel that his shirt had fallen. Then they looked for his “shirt” and “provided assistance” by the rescue service, the police with an ambulance and all sympathetic people.

MONEY

It was news to me that Bulgaria is a member of the European Union. But despite this, all monetary exchanges are made in Bulgarian levs.

It is better to change rubles into euros before flying to the country, and then change them into levs there.

1 euro = 1.9 lev

I divided all prices in Bulgaria in half and received approximately in euros. If you forgot something or didn’t take it, you can safely buy it at a local store. It will even be cheaper. At the very least, for the same price as ours.

SEA

The average temperature in Sunny Beach in June-July is 27 - 35°C.

Water temperature 24-26°C

The sea did not surprise us with its color, transparency, or living creatures. Everyone writes in unison about the cleanliness of the sea... It is quite muddy. I like the bottom to be visible, fish, pebbles (although what kind of pebbles are there - the bottom is sandy).

The shallow depth extends quite far, which is important for parents with small children.

Yes, the shore is also sandy. The beaches are very clean.

Every evening they clean up the place: they remove garbage and level the sand with tractors.

And here you won’t be able to admire the sea sunset - the sun goes behind the mountains on the opposite side.

*********************************************************************************************************************

ENTERTAINMENT AND SHOPPING

After dinner, around seven or eight in the evening, people pour out onto the main tourist street, the Promenade. It is located right behind the hotels in front of the beach and stretches along the entire coast of the peninsula.

Along this road there are shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, attractions, casinos and even McDonald's and Subway.

Restaurant workers come out onto the street and invite you to come in.

Live music and singing can be heard everywhere. Entertainment shows for every taste and fiery dances (including erotic ones in some places).

By the way, I can’t help but admire the dignity of the Bulgarians. Yes, they invite you to their establishments, but at the same time it all happens so politely and unobtrusively. And it doesn't bother me at all. We really liked it.

You can ride a train (adult ticket - 3 leva). You can ride on a horse-drawn cart. Or rent a tricycle and ride it among the crowd (the price depends on the time of use: for example, 30 minutes - 20 leva).

Desperate madmen can “ride” on a “ball” (it’s even scary to watch).

You can’t list everything...

When it gets dark, the fun begins. Sunny Beach is simply seething with all this “action”. And a little later they set off fireworks!

And so every evening

But our hotel had good insulation and the windows were not on this street. Therefore, when we wanted, we had fun, but we also slept comfortably.

That's why, If you want to have a good rest at night, choose a room with a balcony overlooking the mountains, not the sea.

********************************************************************************************************************

WHAT YOU CAN SEE BEYOND SUNNY BEACH

Of course, the tour representative will offer you a lot of excursions. But this time we were attracted by only two excursions: to Istanbul and Romania. But I was scared that each excursion lasts two days. We found it too tedious. And they are very expensive.

And there is one more nuance. If you are going to Bulgaria, ask your tour operator to arrange a multiple visa for you. Otherwise, you will not be allowed on these two excursions.

Since the rest of the events seemed uninteresting to us, we decided to organize our own cultural and educational recreation.

NESSEBAR or NESSEBAR (The city-museum is under the protection of UNESCO)

The closest object of great interest was the old town of Nessebar.

You can get to it by bus No. 1, 5 and 8.

Ticket price 1.3 leva.

Travel time is no more than half an hour. True, buses in Sunny Beach are not equipped with air conditioning, unfortunately.

One of the most ancient cities in Europe.

It is interesting both for its ancient buildings, temples and churches, and for ordinary residential buildings.

The city itself is connected to the rest of the peninsula by a bridge. As soon as you cross the bridge, the first thing that attracts your attention is the old mill and the monument to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of fishermen.

The first time we visited Nessebar during the day and walked inside the streets of the city. By the way, there were two cormorants sitting on the monument to St. Nicholas, which can only be seen on it and nowhere else in the city. They sat motionless, which at first we considered them to be a continuation of the composition. But the photo didn't work out.

Some temples and other ancient buildings were destroyed in places by an earthquake that once occurred, and part of the city, with most of the temples, was completely under water because of it. They say that in good weather you can even see them at the bottom of the sea.

For the second time we decided to visit this wonderful city in the evening. But our trip almost failed due to bad weather. It got colder and rained heavily. But as soon as it ended, we ran to the bus stop.

This time we walked around the city and along the embankment. And this walk turned out to be even more interesting. As soon as you get off the bus, take a right from the fortress wall. The photos turned out gloomy because we were walking in a powerful storm and it got dark earlier than expected.

At the fortress wall, a man traditionally played the guide (the sound is similar to bagpipes). We walked past the maritime terminal, “visited” the amphitheater (in good weather there are concerts here in the evenings), saw unusual restaurants and a beautiful embankment.

****************************************************************************************************************

BURGAS

Travel time 50 minutes

Our next trip was to Burgas.

There are two ways to get there (not counting organized excursions).

The first thing is by public transport: 1 or 5 to the bus station (5 minutes drive). And from there it’s already a regular bus.

But while we were waiting at the stop, a large bus pulled up and a man looked out and shouted that they were going to PlazaMall, shopping center in Burgas. We quickly jumped into it and drove off. The trip was free, air conditioned and very comfortable. We also came back on it.

So, a very convenient way to get to the city is like this shopping tour. You just need to know the schedule.

From the shopping center you need to cross a large intersection and a little ahead and to the left there will be a public transport terminal. It’s difficult to get lost here: at the stops there are detailed route maps and illuminated boards with the exact arrival of a particular bus. And in each salon there are boards and each stop is shown.

We took route number to the bus station. We were passing by seaside park. The beautiful landscape design really catches your eye right away. But we didn’t have time to visit it. Maybe next time.

And we were in a hurry to walk around the local Arbat, Aleksandrovsk street. On the way we came across museums and an opera house (I actually thought at first that this was a building like our pioneer houses). When we asked a Bulgarian we met how to get to the Church of Cyril and Methodius, he spoke to us in Bulgarian and the last words were: straight and to the right. This is where we got worried because we forgot how to translate it correctly. They didn’t know whether to follow his gestures or words. But when we got there, we realized that the Bulgarian had given us directions in Russian. While walking along the street, we stood at the “navel” of the city (zero kilometer, relative to which all the buildings were made). We went into the Cyril and Methodius Church, lit candles and admired the interior decoration and paintings. We really liked it inside.

Then we returned and walked to the monument to the Soviet soldier. Yes, there is “Alyosha” in Burgas too.

We were very pleased with the trip.

Next time, if we are going to Bulgaria again, we will definitely rent a car and visit Sofia and Varna. This time we decided to just look around the area for now. We found out that the cheapest rental is 22 euros per day (without gasoline), with a deposit of another 20 euros, which are refundable.

WHAT TO BRING FROM BULGARIA

Ceramics, products with embroidery (I would have bought some kind of national “embroidered shirt”, but I didn’t come across anything like that), handmade lace products, Rakia (national strong drink), rose oil (the real thing must be in a vial with wax branded seal), cosmetics with rose oil and, of course, rose petal jam.

By the way, I advise you to buy jam in local stores. For example, we bought 430 grams for 4 leva, while in duty-free 250 grams cost 4 euros.

So, we were very pleased with the trip. We were lucky with the hotel. We basked in the sun, breathed the sea air, swam, recharged ourselves with positive emotions and enjoyed visiting historical places.

HAVE A GREAT VACATION TO EVERYONE!
