What places can you visit in Batumi? What to see in Batumi

A significant number of the attractions listed below do not require money, which is doubly pleasant for budget tourists.

Today we will talk about the most unusual places in the city of Batumi, where they are located, what is special about them and, most importantly, whether they are worth the allotted time.

Batumi: attractions

We are forced to divide the attractions of the resort into groups to make it more convenient to describe each of them. Our list does not include all the key places in the city, but only the most visited and subjectively important.

In front of the sea terminal building there is a Park of Wonders, and a little to the side of it there is a pier for yachts and boats.

The sea terminal of the famous resort can rightfully boast of its unusualness and originality, along with other buildings located nearby. The quaint building is crowned with a sharp spire stretching to the heavenly expanses, and very close by is a pretty park with ornate plants.

If you are interested in information about the possibility of getting to Batumi by sea (by ferry or ship), flight schedule and other useful materials about the sea terminal, we recommend opening our separate article: What is the port of Batumi like?

Batumi cable car

The decoration of the city of Batumi and its main pride is. It connects the resort's embankment with Mount Feria, which is by and large an interesting and exciting entertainment. The new and modern design consists of 9 cabins that continuously transport those wishing to the top.

Mount Feria offers magnificent views of Batumi and the surrounding area. Nearby on the site there are cafes, souvenir shops and a small church (unfortunately not working).

To “fly” over a city, you must first find a landing station. It is located on Gogebashvili Street, in an area known to everyone. The cost of skating for an adult is 15 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
15 lari = 4.97 euros;
15 lari = 5.7 dollars;
15 lari = 378.3 rubles;
15 lari = 159.6 hryvnia;
15 lari = 12.75 Belarusian rubles.
in two directions.

Attractions in the vicinity of Batumi

In addition to the fact that Batumi has many amazing things and attractions that you need to see first, there are no less magnificent surroundings around it that also wouldn’t hurt to see. Our small top 7 main wonders include:, and, the amazing Machakhela Gorge, and, the ancient monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta, as well as the Mtirala National Park. More details about each of them, except the last one, you can read in separate articles by clicking on the active link (highlighted in blue).

Traveling through mountainous Adjara Tourists will remember it for its rich program: unusual waterfalls (in the area and), ancient waterfalls, and several other striking attractions. The most convenient and recommended ways are either in a comfortable car with an interesting guide (we personally drove this way). An 8-hour voyage will cost 139 euros for two. If there are more people, the additional payment is 15 euros for each additional person. Another option to see the sights of mountainous Adjara is to go on a group excursion for 29 euros per person. The program is slightly different from an individual trip, but no less memorable.

Tour of Machakhela gorge will not only take you to quiet, secluded places, but will also reveal the unreal beauty of Adjara, hidden from prying eyes. Tourists can expect the capture of an ancient fortress, a walk along an “extreme” suspension bridge, raging waterfalls and the main highlight of the program - a feast with typical foods from the region (some of them can only be tried on this trip). Excursion to Machakhela - the best, which can be visited from the outskirts of Batumi. The cost of an individual trip is 159 euros for two. We recently found a good group excursion with a similar program, the price is 46 euros per person.

Okatse Canyon We recommend it primarily to those who are not afraid of heights. The views from it are simply stunning, but you will have to admire them from a narrow bridge suspended over a deep gorge. The highlight of the canyon is the platform from which you can see the waterfall. You won't be able to get close to Okatsa; the road near the gorge is badly broken. The simplest option is to get to the place where the ticket office is located and, after purchasing tickets, hire any car you like (there are cars of various “killed” cars driving around the place). The price of the trip will depend on the choice of vehicle. Approximately one way car will cost from 30 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
30 lari = 9.93 euros;
30 lari = 11.4 dollars;
30 lari = 756.6 rubles;
30 lari = 319.2 hryvnia;
30 lari = 25.5 Belarusian rubles.
Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate., at two - 50 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
50 lari = 16.55 euros;
50 lari = 19 dollars;
50 lari = 1261 rubles;
50 lari = 532 hryvnia;
50 lari = 42.5 Belarusian rubles.
Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate.. We visited the canyon during an individual excursion, together with the Martvili canyons. But there is also a group option, the price includes lunch.

Monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta, located nearby, it is best to combine them into one excursion. The temples are quite ancient and interesting. The Motsameta Monastery, surrounded by a gorge, resembles a small piece of paradise, where it is very beautiful and quiet. On the territory of the Gelati Monastery are the remains of the great King David, revered by Georgians. It is not uncommon to see excavations here. You can get to the monasteries. We went on an individual excursion, also taking in the Prometheus Cave. You can use the Gotrip.ge service. When planning a tour, fill in the appropriate lines (directions).

Mtirala National Park—recommended for visiting, a relatively new attraction in the vicinity of Batumi. The park acquired the status of a nature reserve in 2007. Mtirala is considered one of the wettest places in Europe and this alone can be considered a worthy reason to visit it. The park is rich in flora and fauna. You can get there by taking a tour or ordering a car with a driver.

The idea of garden planning was borrowed from the legendary baby shower. Its tiers descend very beautifully and picturesquely from the mountain peaks to the sea coast.

At the very top you can see representatives of the Himalayan flora, and at the foot - plants of the Mediterranean zone. Between them are tiers dedicated to New Zealand, Australia, North America, Japan, Mexico and Transcaucasia.

It’s nice that it’s not you who is looking for and recruiting a company for an excursion, but the service georgia4travel.ru. More information can be found on their website.

Small conclusion

When you come to Georgia not for the first time, having already explored it with the help of guides, or have a very limited budget, travel with the help of car drivers. It’s not only interesting (you can get the locals talking to get a feel for the flavor of the country), but it’s also cheaper.

Where is it profitable to travel on your own from Batumi?

Warning: Many minibuses in Batumi have stickers with the words Botanical Garden. This is an advertisement and in fact the minibus does not go there. Be sure to check the route with the driver or passengers.

Church of the Holy Trinity on Mount Sameba

3 A good option would be to go see the Church of the Holy Trinity on Mount Sameba. The church was built in the 19th century and is located on a hill (250 meters above sea level), which offers stunning views not only of the surrounding mountains, but also of the city itself:

You can get there by yellow Bogdanchiki, which run every hour and a half from the stop next to the Batumi Plaza shopping center. It's across the street from the start. Worth the trip approx. 2 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:

2 lari = 0.76 dollars;

.

The Batumi guide shows the bus schedule: 8:00, 10:00, 13:00, 16:00, but we did not check it. Travel time is about half an hour. There are several other minibuses going in that direction, but they don’t take you to the church itself - you’ll have to walk for about 15-20 minutes.

If the minibus does not suit you, order a car with a driver. Price starts from 19 GEL GEORGIAN GEL RATE:

Machakhela National Park - the most interesting part of Adjara

4 If you want to see truly unique and not visited by tourists places in the mountainous part of Adjara, go to the Machakhela region. You won’t be able to travel to all the key points (and there are really quite a few of them) by public transport, so you can choose group or individual options.

The highlight of the excursion (we went on a private one) is a Georgian feast with local dishes, many of which are difficult to find even in expensive Batumi restaurants. And then you can arrange an exciting photo shoot in local outfits against the backdrop of the lush greenery of the surrounding nature.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls we saw in Georgia is Mirveti Waterfall. The power of water is so powerful that even after standing for several minutes at the distance from which the photo was taken, the camera becomes covered with droplets of water.

Cost of visiting Marvili Canyons: 15 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
15 lari = 4.97 euros;
15 lari = 5.7 dollars;

Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate. boat ride on the top. Small children less than a meter tall will not be allowed to ride the boat. Martvili is closed on Mondays.

Prometheus Cave, Sataplia and Kutaisi Nature Reserve

8 If you don’t plan to live in Kutaisi, you can go there on a one-day excursion. This pleasure will cost 175 euros. Full day excursion, eventful and interesting. For this money they will show you (while passing) the monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta. For 160 euros, the excursion will take you through the Martvili Canyon, Prometheus Cave and sulfur springs. We visited both, the impressions were very good.

Just don’t go on Monday - the cave will be closed, and street “guides” and taxi drivers often “forget” about it.

If you are planning to rent a car or take a car with a driver, add also to the list. It is less extensive than Promethea, but has undeniable advantages: frozen dinosaur tracks on the territory; a beautiful pristine forest, where it is easy to breathe and pleasant to walk along the paths; as well as a magnificent glass platform over the abyss (tickle your nerves). Sataplia is closed on Tuesdays. Based on this, in order to get to both caves, you should choose any days except Monday and Tuesday for travel.

Okatse Canyon - a narrow bridge over the abyss

9 50 kilometers from Kutaisi (and 170 from Batumi) you can visit and see the Kinchkha waterfall. It is best to combine a trip with Martvili. Such a trip in a car with a driver will turn out to be about 207 GEL GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
207 lari = 68.52 euros;
207 lari = 78.66 dollars;
207 lari = 5220.54 rubles;
207 lari = 2202.48 hryvnia;
207 lari = 175.95 Belarusian rubles.
Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate. for the car. A group excursion to similar places will cost 55 euros per person, an individual excursion will cost 180 euros for up to 3 people.

There you will have the opportunity to walk more than a kilometer along a narrow bridge over the abyss. The impressions are unforgettable.

Such trips are ideal for tourists who want to see a lot, but do not have money for guides. Drivers will try to tell you everything they know about the place they are taking you to, but you will receive a minimum of information.

note

You need to look for good guides in Georgia and book their excursions in advance. You can also hire the first taxi driver you come across, but it will cost much more. It is unlikely that you will be able to learn anything about the attraction you are visiting from him.

We have a section on our website where we share contacts of those with whom we traveled. But since we don’t have many acquaintances in Georgia, we recommend taking a closer look at or on the website Georgia4travel.ru. They are a little more expensive, but the quality is very decent.

Independent travel in a rented car: can you save money?

And traveling on your own is usually cheaper (per 2 travelers) than hiring local guides and much cheaper than organized excursions.

There is a second plus - you will have complete freedom and the opportunity to plan a complex route for several days, stay in a city you like, or, on the contrary, quickly leave a place that seems uninteresting.

Well, an important point for lovers: the opportunity to be together somewhere high in the mountains gives indescribable sensations and rewards you with excellent memories.

Traveling around Georgia by minibus: is it worth it?

Purely theoretically, you can travel around Georgia by minibuses. Many people do this. But at the same time, each route must be calculated. After all, there is always a risk of being late for a minibus, the schedule of which is very inconvenient.

The situation is similar with almost all long-distance excursion trips. It is often not possible to travel there and back in one day due to the inconvenient bus schedule, and the price of the trip will not be much lower than hiring a car with a driver.

Public transport is very convenient travel short distances. For example, from Batumi you can visit the Temple of the Holy Trinity on Mount Sameba, go swimming at or Ureki. Such trips will cost much less than you would pay for a taxi.

The second option for using public transport is a trip for several days. For example, from Batumi we advise you to go to, settle there and see. It will be cheaper and more convenient than traveling from Batumi - you will save on housing, transport, and food.

Why can't you save money when traveling by minibus?

A full-day round-trip minibus trip will cost 30 percent less than ordering a car with a driver. But there is another problem - minibuses rarely come (if at all), and situations when there should have been a minibus, but did not come, happen almost every day.

As a result, sooner or later you will find yourself in a situation where there is no minibus and you have to pay very dearly for a taxi or stay in a local hotel. All savings over several trips are spent on this one force majeure and it becomes a shame for missed attractions, because with local guides you would have seen many times more.

The second reason is time. Pri (which travels much faster than a minibus) we always returned home closer to 12 at night. If you take minibuses, you have minimal time for sightseeing, and you won’t be able to see many interesting places at all.

In spring it seems like an impenetrable wall, in summer it looks like a cascade of splashes that play merrily in the sun's rays. The Makhuntseti arched bridge, built in the 12th century during the reign of Queen Tamara, is also visible.

Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The cathedral was originally built as a church; looking at it you can see the classical features of the Gothic style. The building was built with donations from believers, a large contribution of which came from the funds of the wealthy oil industrialist Stefan Zubalashvili.

The cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The central entrance is guarded by two statues - Simon the Canaanite and St. Andrew the First-Called. Huge windows decorated with stained glass are the best examples of the French traditions of Gothic architecture.

The Armenian Apostolic Church is modest in size and not distinguished by elaborate decor. The main feature of the temple is the stained glass windows, on which you can see eight-pointed stars, which is not characteristic of the Christian faith. Stars are a symbol of the ancient symbolism of Armenian Christians.

In the courtyard of the church there is a tree that was planted by Ivan Aivazovsky, who was not only a famous artist, but also a collector and philanthropist.

The temple was used as a warehouse during Soviet times, however, in 2000, after reconstruction, it was returned to believers.

Tourists' impressions of the sun city

Despite all the concerns, holidays for Russians in Georgia, especially in Batumi, are quite calm. Local residents treat tourists kindly, and the cuisine simply cannot be praised. National food in Batumi is a gourmet's paradise;

The infrastructure is a little underdeveloped, so it’s a bit difficult with small children. There are practically no signs in Russian, but this completes the list of shortcomings. Otherwise, Batumi is admirable; it is the city where you want to return again and again. Friendly, cheerful, friendly and welcoming people, excellent wines and food - everything you need for a real holiday is here;

I continue to tell you about the glorious city of Batumi.

This is a stunning city with a rich history and beautiful architecture. That is why tourists from all over the world flock here to walk along the original streets and see with your own eyes city attractions , and at the same time swim in the sea , breathe in the fresh sea breeze and taste the best dishes of Georgian cuisine .

Having read rave reviews and seen enough photographs of Batumi, of course, we included a visit to Batumi in our trip plan for Georgia. To see with your own eyes what success this Georgian resort has achieved in recent years.

In the previous article, I already told you how best to get to Batumi and where you can stay: . This article will help you plan your trip to this resort. Today my task is to tell you about the most interesting tourist places in Batumi, and help you create an approximate route for your acquaintance with this amazing city.

What you can see in Batumi on your own

Batumi impressed us from the very first minutes of arrival. Entering it from the Trans-Ajar highway (), we looked with interest at the bizarrely shaped skyscrapers. And we firmly decided the next day, right in the morning, to go for a walk around this colorful city.

But the next morning a surprise awaited us in the form of an incessant downpour. And this was after ten whole days of hellish heat, during which we wandered the streets of Tbilisi (), tasted wine in the Alazani Valley (), examined the temples of Mtskheta and the Uplistsikhe caves (), and drank mineral water in Borjomi (). And we did all this under the golden rays of the warm September sun.

And then, when we finally got to the SEA and prayed we could afford to just lie on the beach for a couple of days, the RAIN started pouring down! Yes, such that the outlines of the surrounding mountains were not even visible. And we spent almost the entire day looking at Batumi only through the window of our room. This had its own plus: we were so tired from driving along the Trans-Ajar highway that we didn’t mind getting a good night’s sleep. Although we would be just as happy to do it on the beach under an umbrella. But alas...

The rain subsided only towards evening. It was time to get out and take a little walk around Batumi. Moreover, the probability of continued rain was very high - even in the photo you can see low thunderclouds over the city...

Batumi embankment

I am sure that you should start getting acquainted with any seaside city from the embankment. If you do this in Batumi, you definitely won’t go wrong. She is the one who will show how this beautiful city lives and breathes.

We went to the embankment in the area Hilton Hotel And Batumi University :

This place was the beginning of our walk around Batumi. There is no secret meaning here - it’s just here, in the hotel parking lot, that we managed to park our car perfectly (and the car remains under supervision, and it’s just a stone’s throw from the center).

While we are walking towards the sea, we manage to see that in both directions the embankment and the promenade along it stretch very far - there is no end in sight!

For the first time in my life, I thought that the hoverboards and unicycles that everyone uses in Polyana are not such a useless invention.

After the rain there were few people on the promenade and embankment. And by the way, you can’t see the dirt and puddles either, did you notice? So I liked Batumi from the first minutes of my walk.

The embankment itself now, at the end of the season, looked a little deserted, but also quite well maintained. If you live nearby, you can go for a morning jog, an afternoon bike ride or an evening exercise here. In summer, the embankment is always crowded: tourists are walking, lovers are walking, large groups, families, or alone are walking.

Tourists usually take photos with the following art objects:

A beautiful green park adjacent to the embankment will save you from sunstroke on a hot summer day.

And we had a rainy autumn day. A brisk breeze was blowing from the sea, and we didn’t notice how we walked with a brisk step to that part of the embankment where modern high-rise buildings and other unusual buildings rose.

Alphabet Tower

We saw this building from afar. The “good goal” voiced during the construction of this structure - to perpetuate the Georgian alphabet - is questioned by many locals. They are more inclined to the version of money laundering (construction cost more than 30 million dollars). You can go upstairs by elevator (this is a paid pleasure, although inexpensive) and eat in a restaurant under the dome (and this is both a paid and expensive pleasure!)

Lighthouse in Batumi

A lighthouse is visible nearby. It was erected back in 1863, during the period of Ottoman rule. Then the lighthouse tower was wooden. The reconstruction was carried out in 1882 by craftsmen from Paris.

During the day, the lighthouse is unremarkable. However, with the arrival of darkness, the Batumi lighthouse begins to illuminate the sea with a mysterious ruby light. Somewhere here, not far from the lighthouse, we came across this couple:

A Ferris wheel was built right there: for 3 GEL (the price for a ride on a Ferris wheel) you will rise to a height of 55 meters above the city. And behind it begins the port of Batumi.

But on the way to the port we notice another attraction of Batumi...

Chacha Tower

Chacha Tower or Chacha Fountain is so named because a couple of times a week, for exactly 15 minutes, a fountain is turned on in the tower, in which not just water circulates, but real vodka.

They say that this event causes a special stir in the city - not only among tourists, as planned, but among the local population. Of course, tourists mainly hunt for Georgian wine!

Port of Batumi

The port of Batumi, of course, is really different from the seaport in Sochi. In Sochi, the port serves mainly passenger traffic, and its construction was associated with the development of Sochi as a resort. And the main factor in the development of the Batumi port from the very beginning was the delivery of goods.

The port was built and developed to transport oil from Baku. For this purpose, the Baku-Tbilisi railway line was built.

And in 1900, the construction of the Baku-Batumi oil pipeline was completed. And then, thanks to the Batumi port, Russia in the shortest possible time first caught up and then overtook the United States of America in oil production and export. By the beginning of the 20th century. The port of Batumi has become one of the leading ports of the Black Sea. And now the port of Batumi is the heart of the city.

We approach the building of the Batumi Sea Terminal:

Well, doesn’t it remind you of anything? In my opinion, this is a smaller and very simplified copy of the building Sea terminal in Sochi. By the way, next to the pier there was another greeting from Sochi - the same “Comet” that runs between Sochi and Batumi.

The port area is as busy as always. Fishermen are fishing, tourists are strolling, taxi drivers are waiting for clients. Across the road from the port begins the same Batumi, which is called Old Batumi.

Here, next to the port, is the lower cable car station. Yes, Batumi also has its own cable car, as does Tbilisi () and Borjomi ().

In general, in the cities of Georgia, as I noticed, the funicular is such a popular attraction for tourists) Like singing fountains in Russian cities;-)

Fare: 15 GEL round trip, for children - 5 GEL, open seven days a week from 09:00 to 21:00. During the trip (about 10 minutes), you can take a closer look at different quarters of Batumi, which are usually out of sight of tourists.

At the top point there is an observation deck, from which you can see the port, the areas of new and old Batumi, the mountains of Adjara...

Although I love cable car rides, this time we had to give it up - the cable car cabins were leaving in the exact direction where another thunderstorm front was coming from the mountain like a wall. And we decided to limit ourselves to a walk around Old Batumi.

Batumi center: attractions

In general, we first Googled where and what is located in Batumi. But already during the walk they didn’t check the map - they walked at random. Because all the roads in Batumi will still lead you to its central part. And here you will not pass by the most interesting places.

So, having crossed to the other side of the road from the port, we intuitively turned onto one of the busiest streets of old Batumi:

Here, on every meter of the square, there was active trade, and it would be difficult to get through by car. But walking in this part of Batumi is a pleasure - you never know what you will see around the corner:

It’s even difficult to say what styles are mixed in this part of Batumi: neoclassical buildings calmly coexist with pre-war slums and bright graffiti...

You can’t call these neighborhoods popular, varnished ones—the atmosphere of the city is felt here. But everywhere is very clean, everything is tailored to tourist needs. Probably, such streets are needed in every city. So that tourists have somewhere to go for a walk.

We reached the Church of St. Nicholas:

The church building is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The initiator of its construction was the Greek population of Batumi, led by Jordan Metaxa. The foundation of the church was laid in 1865. Since Batumi at that time was under the protectorate of Turkey, the Greeks turned to the Turkish Sultan with a request for permission to build a Christian church. The Sultan gave his consent with one condition: there would be no bells in the church - the main attribute of an Orthodox cathedral. It was installed only in 1878 and to this day occupies its place under the dome of the cathedral.

Directly diagonally from the church there is another bell tower - this is a modern one:

Wow, this is a copy of the Bell Tower of San Marco in Venice! And here is the Piazza - a small beautiful square, also a smaller version of the Venetian one:

Its construction was completed in 2010. But over the years it has already become the hallmark of Batumi. Although it resembles a corner of Italian Venice, it fits perfectly into the quarters of the main Georgian resort. The piazza is an ideal platform for lovers of photo shoots, artists, and photographers. This place is especially popular among newlyweds - excellent wedding photos on the square are guaranteed:

There is also a small concert stage built on the square, where romantic live music plays in the evenings, creating the ideal setting for a pleasant evening. Other attractions include a musical clock, where music plays every three hours and funny figures move around.

Hotel Piazza Boutique Hotel is located right in this very bell tower. And here, at its reception, you can get a city map - absolutely free.

We also succumbed to the charm of the square and decided to sit down and have lunch here:

A good lunch gave us strength, and we slowly move further along the streets of old Batumi. We move again intuitively, looking at the amazing architecture of Batumi.

Quite by chance we saw the circus building:

The circus in Batumi opened in 1903. Currently, the circus does not have its own troupe (like the Sochi circus, I thought). Touring circus and acrobatic troupes from different countries hold their show programs and performances in its arena.

In just five minutes we are already approaching Europe Square . You are also unlikely to be able to pass by this square in Batumi: the bizarre architecture of the buildings surrounding the square will invariably attract your attention:

In the center of the square is a statue of Medea, which is considered to be a symbol of the well-being and prosperity of Georgia - this is hinted at by the golden fleece in her hand:

But the square is most interesting not for the statue, but for the buildings that surround it. Here, depending on the observation angle, you can inventively “deceive” your location. If you look to the left, there is the building of the astronomical clock in Prague (by the way, there is a clock on the façade, have you noticed?)

Look straight ahead and you will see the Roosevelt Hotel building from Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles ():

And if you look at the right corner of the square, there you have the Vienna City Hall:

We hang out on this square for a long time... I don’t remember exactly in which direction we walked later, but after about another 20 minutes we come to this colonnade:

And this is nothing more than the entrance to Park 6 May . If you look at the photo carefully, you will notice that the entrance to the park is decorated with a monument to the outstanding pilot Fadiko Gogitidze, who died in World War II.

The park itself occupies an area of 157.6 thousand square meters. m. in the very center of the city. It was founded as a garden in 1881 by German and French gardeners. Thanks to the large number of trees, bushes and flowers, it was already a favorite place for walks in those years.

Now the park is still beautiful. But it could not avoid the fate of all city parks: children's entertainment - such as a zoo, a dolphinarium and attractions - became an integral part of it.

But now, in the evening (or just after the rain), the rides were not working and the children were not visible either. And therefore there was perfect silence in the park, which made it possible to enjoy the beauty of Lake Nurigel:

And for those who want a more active holiday, you can rent a boat or catamaran and enjoy a boat trip on the lake.

Along the lake in a circle there is an embankment with benches for relaxation. This is an ideal place where you can escape from the hustle and bustle: meditate or read your favorite book. By the way, in the park there is a house with books: here you can choose any book for the evening or leave your own in it.

We also meditated a little: we sat on a bench, admiring the beauty of the park and lake, until dusk.

This was the end of our walk. We walked from the park to the car parked at the Hilton in 5 minutes. And while we were driving to the hotel, we exchanged impressions of the city.

In fact, during this day we managed to see the main interesting places of old Batumi. And it felt like we had been to different cities! Well, isn’t this Georgian Batumi a miracle? How can you not fall in love with this city?

Excursions to the attractions closest to Batumi

But in its surroundings so many more interesting places! But getting to them on your own will not be so easy if you are not by car. And not all tourists are impressed by public transport.

Rent a car - a good solution for those who like independent forays. On the site Myrentacar It’s convenient to choose and book a suitable car, because... You can calculate the cost of renting it in advance and clarify all other points.

Not sure you want to drive on unfamiliar roads? In this case I recommend go for a day around Batumi with an excursion :

  • Botanical garden, Byzantine fortress and tea plantations
  • The beauty of mountainous Adjara: the oldest fortress in Georgia, a magnificent waterfall and an ancient arched bridge
  • Machakhela Gorge on the border with Turkey

In general, I will not be lying if I say that the city of Batumi has won a piece of my soul from Sochi. And I know for sure that in a couple of years it will be even cooler here! So, seize the moment, friends, go to Batumi, while it’s not so expensive to vacation there...

See you on the blog!
