Another significant historical site in Cyprus, located in Larnaca, is Kition - archaeological excavations of cities of ancient times. Also, while in this city, you can visit its many museums. Children will have fun at the local amusement park.

Full of fun Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is one of the most popular and visited resorts in Cyprus. Mirror-clear sea water, excellent sandy beaches, a large number of entertainment places and cultural institutions - this is what awaits tourists who choose among other resorts beach holiday in Cyprus in Ayia Napa. Previously, it was the most ordinary fishing village. Today it is a fashionable resort, an ideal place for young people and lovers of vibrant nightlife, discos, numerous festivals and celebrations.

Picturesque Paphos

Paphos is probably the most picturesque resort in Cyprus. A town with a rich history and interesting culture, various attractions. The beaches here are clean, sandy, the weather is clear, the sea is warm. This is a great place to relax for both adults and children. Interesting places in the eyes of tourists will be: Nea Paphos - an ancient city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Tomb of the Kings, the port fortress of Pafos Medieval Fort, as well as many museums.

Cyprus attracts travelers with its mild climate, warm and clean sea, long tourist season, pleasant service and delicious food. Russians also like it because they can apply for a pro-visa to the southern part of the country for free right from home, and to visit Turkish Northern Cyprus a visa is not needed at all.

The relatively small island accommodates not only two warring states, but also two dissimilar mountain ranges, Kyrenia and Troodos, the capital Nicosia, also divided between the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus, and a large number of ancient monuments lying at the intersection of European and Eastern cultures .

Many city names still have three variants - Greek, Turkish and colonial. For example, Nicosia can be Lefkosia and Lefkosa depending on who is talking about it.

When to go

The tourist season in Cyprus is very long. You can swim from May to October, and sunbathe even longer. Best time to travel: late spring and early autumn, when the air is not too hot and the sea has already warmed up. At the height of summer, the air temperature can rise to +40 ° C, the water is so warm that it is not even refreshing.

Travelers who go to Cyprus in the spring can enjoy the greenery and flowering trees, but by autumn all the vegetation burns out in the sun, the island looks dry and deserted.

Beach holiday

Most travelers come to Cyprus to sunbathe and swim. The beaches on the island are covered with yellow or white sand, sometimes interspersed with small pebbles, many of them are awarded the Blue Flag. The entrance to the water is flat almost everywhere, and the sea is clean and pleasant.

In the Republic of Cyprus, all beaches are municipal, entry is free, you only have to pay for sunbeds with umbrellas, but you can sunbathe on a towel. Northern Cyprus has both free and private stretches of coastline.

Excursion holidays

Almost all the interesting places in Cyprus are located along the coast, so you can combine a beach holiday with sightseeing. It’s amazing how so many ancient ruins, museums, monasteries, religious sites and uniquely beautiful corners of nature fit into such a small area.

By the way, on “Subtleties” experienced guides offer a lot of exciting excursions around Cyprus.

The sights of Nicosia deserve special attention - the magnificent Old Town, divided between two states and surrounded by an almost perfectly round fortress wall, the Archaeological Museum, which is worth a few hours to explore, and the modern, but well-stylized Archbishop's Palace.

Many travelers study with interest the ghost town of Varosha, which does not belong to any of the countries that divided the island in 1974. Local residents left the city, and gradually, over the past almost 50 years, it fell into disrepair. It is impossible to get into Varosha; it is examined through a telescope from an observation deck near the village of Derynia, located 10 km from Ayia Napa.

Active recreation and entertainment

In addition to visiting the sights and spending lazy time on the seashore, tourists can relax actively, for example, go hiking along the Camel Trail in the Troodos Mountains or take a boat trip from Larnaca or Paphos to Lara Bay with an incubation station, where they help the loggerhead turtles survive, are in danger of extinction. On the island you can practice almost all kinds of sports - from windsurfing to cycling, from diving to golf (the only thing you shouldn’t forget is diving or yachting, for example).

Those interested in wines go on trips to the wine regions of Cyprus - to the Krosochoria region in the southwestern part of Troodos.

Particularly lucky are those whose trip coincides with local holidays - the Apokreo carnival, which takes place in Limassol and lasts two weeks until Lent, the May flower festival "Antestiria", music festivals in Bellapais Abbey and Larnaca.

Who will like it in Cyprus

Holidays in Cyprus are suitable for everyone, because it amazes with the variety of opportunities, activities and entertainment. The main thing is to choose the right resort.

Many beaches are designed for families with children - fine soft sand, a gentle entrance to the water and the absence of waves, and in the cities all kinds of entertainment await children - from water parks to playgrounds. Young and active travelers can go hiking, diving, golf, hang gliding, windsurfing, tennis and even skiing in the Olympus area. Those who love sightseeing will also not be bored - there are ancient ruins, ancient cities, modern museums and aquariums in almost every resort. Elderly tourists will appreciate the hospitality of local residents, quiet evenings in restaurants by the sea, amazingly beautiful nature and a pleasant climate.

The nature of the resorts in these countries is almost entirely determined by their geographical features. Their neighbors, Greece and Cyprus, have a lot in common - one sea, one latitude, one national composition - the Greeks! However, there is something that makes them very different from each other.Read our article and choose a resort according to your preferences!

On the territory of Greece and Cyprus there is only 20% of the entire cultural heritage of antiquity (the remaining 80% is in Turkey ). In fact, there are many attractions here, but visiting the favorite places of Zeus, Athena, Artemis and other representatives of mythology can quickly get boring. Therefore, the best vacation is 2-3 short excursions during your vacation, independent travel to unique beaches and walks around the city where you are staying (by the way, walks are a free activity).

Cyprus is washed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, but Greece is washed by 8 seas at once. The warmest of them is Libyan, the cleanest is Ionian, and the coldest and windiest is Aegean (ideal for kiters and windsurfers). Accordingly, there are many beaches - mostly sand, but there are also pebbles. The climate is subtropical. In July-August, the air temperature warms up to 35 degrees Celsius, the water temperature to 28.

All-inclusive systems in hotels are rare. By purchasing a trip with breakfast or half board, you provide yourself with a unique opportunity to experience the culture and get to know the local people better. Both Greeks and Cypriots are distinguished by incredible cordiality and hospitality, which is especially noticeable among the latter - the territory is small.

Legally, Cyprus is a separate independent republic. However, the southern part of the island is inhabited by Greeks, and the northern part by Turks. Moreover, the Turks (or Greeks) do not recognize the not completely successful annexation of Cyprus by the Greeks (or Turks) and are very sensitive to this topic. Who is right and who is wrong is unknown to this day. But still, under no circumstances take the I Love Turkey T-shirt with you to Cyprus. Well, you know, you never know...

The most popular resort in Cyprus -Ayia Napa . In the summer months, the city turns into one big youth party, which can be heard not only in the center, but sometimes also on the coast. Since the beaches here are the best on the island, it is better to enjoy the beauty of Ayia Napa in proud and tranquil solitude in October-November or April. The most popular beach is Nissi Beach with azure water and white sand. Other resorts have gray sand and pebbles.

Nissi beach in the video starts at 1:16 minutes:

In a large and dynamic port cityLimassolthere are a lot of Russians thanks to the good infrastructure and entertainment for children: there is a water park, amusement park and a zoo. However, the journey from the airport will take about an hour.Larnaca Also suitable for children thanks to sandy beaches with small pebbles and convenient access to the sea, besides, holidays here are the most economical. But especially anxious tourists may not like the planes that take off over the beach every half hour during the summer season.

In a fashionable Paphos There are not many Russian tourists in the area, and the city itself is quiet. But there are many attractions. The beaches are rocky, with difficult entry into the sea, but very picturesque.

There are quite a lot of excursions in Cyprus. The most popular and rich, as we mentioned in the last newsletter, is for donkeys. But still, unlike Greece, bus service on the island is rather scarce. It is best to rent a car and explore the island on your own (the length is only 100 km from south to north). The island inherited left-hand traffic from the British occupiers.

You will not need All Inclusive in Cyprus. A delicious meze in a local tavern - an assortment of many dishes, designed for one person (in fact, enough for two well-fed eaters) costs no more than 20 €.

The ideal holiday in Cyprus is to splash around in the sea during the day, and after a siesta go to the city, taste the divine local Commandaria wine, snack on small wrinkled olives, which taste much more refined than large Greek ones, stroll through the city market and make friends with the locals. In any city you can also find a disco with dancing until the morning.

Greece

Greece, Mykonos island

Greece, compared to Cyprus, is simply a huge country. The number of bays, coves, beaches and beaches, islands of different sizes simply cannot be counted. And each resort is special. To choose a suitable climate, imagine a map: it will be cooler on the peninsula, hotter in Rhodes and Crete. The further south the island is, the more sparse its nature is.

The beaches in Greece are municipal, which means you have to fork out for a sunbed and an umbrella. But almost all of them are sandy; on some islands, for example, Santorini or Kos, there is healing, mineralized sand - pink, gold, white and black.

Crete – a large island with developed infrastructure, the climate is very similar to Cyprus. The island is the most popular because it offers very wide opportunities for recreation - from economical to luxurious. Lots of attractions and vibrant nightlife. Nearby is the uninhabited island of Elafonisi - with pink sand, lots of shells and dense tropical forest. Moreover, you can wade to it from the southwestern part of Crete along a warm lagoon.

Santorini - a charming hilly island of volcanic origin, all strewn with white and blue houses. Here, a European-style holiday is romantic; many beautiful yachts moor on the shore. On the islandCorfu rich nature and unique landscapes, thickets of citrus and olive trees. The resort itself is considered elite. IslandRhodes suitable for young people - there are many bars and wonderful beaches (especially in the southeast of the island). 30 km from the capital of the island there is a cozy national park with lakes and waterfalls, where thousands of butterflies flock from May to September for the mating season.

The video shows a stunning bird's-eye view of the island in the bright colors of the sunset.

When traveling with children, it is better to prefer the mainland of Greece, where the infrastructure is well developed and there is animation on large beaches (not often found in hotels).

Peninsula Halkidiki has the shape of a trident. It is very green, planted with dense pine forests with healing air, but the sea here is cool. But there are up to 50 fabulously beautiful bays!Athens - a modern city with an incredibly high concentration of antiquities per square meter. Some metro stations (convenient and understandable) are monuments in themselves. The best beach is Lagonissi, located half an hour from Athens. Visiting the capital of Greece is a must do! Get acquainted with the cultural heritage, and after sunset, sip wine under the golden light of the evening Parthenon.

In Greece, it is important to choose the right hotel in a wide variety - there are quiet hotels for Europeans, spa and boutique hotels, options for family holidays, equipped with a water park and a children's room. There are both cheap and elite ones. In addition, in October the water is still at 20-22, so you can relax cheaper and not in such drying heat as in summer.

If you want to save money on your vacation, carefully study the geography of the beaches of Greece, choose the optimal location of the hotel nearby so that you can get to all places by bus or ferry.

Both on the mainland and on the islands you will be offered many excursions to historical monuments or walks on the water. It would be a good idea to brush up on the Myths of Ancient Greece to make listening to the guide even more interesting.

What is a must-do in Greece?

Try a real Greek salad with homemade feta, wash down freshly caught red mullet with Ouzo aniseed vodka (but only in a local tavern, not in a tourist restaurant) and dance sirtaki to your heart's content.

The time has come for a question as important as it is sensitive. If we take completely approximate figures, then Cyprus will be more expensive than the popular Crete. And the service is better for the same price. But still, there are too many parameters in each individual hotel by which you need to evaluate the quality of services and their cost.

With the start of the holiday season, many Russians begin to think about vacation, and a lot of questions arise about which country to choose - Cyprus, Greece or Turkey. Traveling abroad is now very easy. It must be said right away that many consider Turkey not a very good choice for a holiday, but this is not the case and now we will try to figure out what the advantages and disadvantages of the above countries are.

How long does it take to fly from Moscow?

There are regular and charter flights to all three countries. You can fly to Turkey in 2.5–4 hours, depending on the resort destination. For example, in the summer during the high season, daily charter flights fly from Moscow to Antalya and Istanbul, and to Dalaman - 3 times a week.

What climate prevails?

In Cyprus The climate is moderate and beach holidays here last from mid-May to the end of October. Winter on the island is short and on average the air temperature does not drop below +17°C ... +19°C. But winter is only suitable for excursion holidays.

And here in Turkey You can have a great rest both in summer and winter, as there are several wonderful ski resorts here, such as Kartalkaya, Palandoken, Uludag and Sarykamysh. You can also enjoy excellent health benefits here, as there are many thermal hot springs and mineral waters. These are resorts such as: Kangal, Pamukkale and Yalova.

In Greece The climate is Mediterranean and here, just like in Cyprus, you can relax almost all year round. But the best time to come here for a beach holiday is from May to October. At the beginning of spring and at the end of autumn, the heat will not tire you and the weather will be excellent. For a holiday with children in Greece, it is best to choose the island of Crete or Rhodes, which are located in the south of the country and washed by the Mediterranean Sea, where the water is much warmer than in the Aegean and the beaches are cleaner and more comfortable.

Types of beaches and hotel service

If you love white and sandy beaches, then you should choose Cyprus or Greece as your holiday destination. The best beaches in Cyprus are located in Ayia Napa and Protaras, and one of the most picturesque beaches is Nissi Beach. Holidays with children on such beaches will be very comfortable. All conditions have been created for a child here. Young people prefer to relax, sunbathe, swim and play a variety of sports on Makronissos beach.

In Greece, too, the beaches are mostly sandy, but they are all municipal and therefore you need to be prepared for the fact that you will have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas every day. You should also take into account that on the mainland resorts of Greece the beaches are noisier and more crowded than on the islands.

Hotels in Cyprus are of all categories - from inexpensive budget to fashionable five-star ones, and the level of service is much higher than in the same hotels in Greece. Moreover, even two-star hotels in Cyprus have air conditioning in their rooms and have recently increasingly offered an all-inclusive system. It should also be noted that, unlike Turkey, hotels in Cyprus or Greece do not have animation everywhere. Children will have to be entertained on their own.

But Turkey can offer you much more - comfortable rooms, an all-inclusive system, 24-hour animation, babysitting services, a children's menu, as well as many other entertainments for children and adults. And all this is on the territory of the hotel.

Cyprus, Greece or Türkiye, which is better?

Summarizing all of the above we can say with confidence that in all three directions the holiday will be unforgettable. But for those who love a good beach holiday and a lot of entertainment, it’s better to stop your choice in Turkey and buy an inexpensive tour or voucher. Cyprus still presupposes a more calm and measured type of relaxation, and Greece is a beach holiday combined with numerous excursions.
