The situation in Alanya for tourists. Alanya - a resort in Turkey

We have collected interesting materials for tourists who are planning to vacation in Alanya this summer. Read on to plan the perfect trip.

On the map of Turkey

Alanya is a popular Turkish resort in the Antalya province. 300 thousand people live here. Tourists are impressed by the gentle sea, exemplary beaches and affordable prices.

Misanthropes will love places where they can enjoy the silence of the beach without leaving the hotel premises. Boys and girls will enjoy parties in “nightlights” at the piers, and for lovers of spiritual food there will be plenty of historical attractions.

This is where Alanya is located if you look at the map of the country.

Weather: air and water temperature

Here, climate stability is observed all year round with a positive temperature background.

Attractions

The visiting card of the city is the Red Tower, 33 meters high and 29 meters in diameter, built in the 13th century and immortalized on the flag of Alanya. At one time, it even appeared on the 250,000 lire banknote. It looks like an octagonal brick structure. The color of the brick later served as the motive for its name.

The tower protected the port from enemies. It reaches a height of 33 meters. Its five floors could accommodate up to 2 thousand soldiers.

No less significant is the citadel of the times of Byzantine rule, Ich-Kale, on a hillock that rises above the surrounding area. The fortress wall stretches for 6.5 kilometers; This building is especially impressive at night, when it is beautifully illuminated. Hidden inside this architectural ensemble are the ruins of a medieval castle and several surviving buildings from the ancient era. In addition, inside Ich-Kale there are also villas built in the century before last.

Tour guides note the mosque of Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I, many years later restored after destruction by Suleiman the Lawgiver. The mausoleum of Aksebe Turbesi, as well as the ship dock, which was used for its intended purpose during the Seljuk invasion, are noteworthy.

Among the museums, the most notable are the ethnographic and archaeological museums, which are rich in exhibits. The latter has a unique floor mosaic from the 2nd century.

Finally, there is an interesting exhibition of the Turkish reformer and outstanding national politician Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. It includes the leader’s personal belongings, his photographs, documents, as well as messages addressed to the residents of the glorious city of Alanya.

A cave that is definitely worth a visit is called Damlatas. Translated, the word means “stone in drops.” The miracle of nature was discovered in 1948. It is located in the extreme west of the cape, where part of Alanya is located. The cave was accidentally discovered by builders during the construction of a new port. Inside you can see bizarre icicles of stalagmites and stalactites of different colors about 15 thousand years old.

After visiting the underground shelter, it becomes clear why this area was chosen by pirates in ancient times: unexplored holes in the rocks served the corsairs as a reliable refuge and temporary shelter.

During the Roman Empire, there was a pirate base in the city.

Curious Russian guests will love Phosphorus Cave. It is named so because of a rare natural physico-chemical phenomenon. Due to the high concentration of phosphorus on its internal surfaces, the walls of the dungeon glow in the dark. The entrance to the Pirates' Cave from the land side is inaccessible, since it can only be entered by skiff. This only adds excitement to visitors, inciting them. The most romantic place is the Cave of Lovers.

An inquisitive tourist will find the Sharavsinsky caravanserai 15 kilometers from Alanya. It was created during the Great Silk Road in the first half of the 13th century. Gostiny Dvor is a spacious rectangular building (850 sq. m).

Vacation with children

Everywhere you can find small chairs, beds, a dietary kitchen, games rooms and tireless animators. The Sialanya Dolphinarium, which is located 20 kilometers from Alanya near the village of Turkler, is available to small spectators. After the show, wearing a life jacket, you can swim a little with the tailed actors. A respectable marine park, replete with attractions, stretches around. The most interesting in terms of entertainment is the diving session to the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. The kids love to admire the pool with exotic inhabitants of the deep sea - stingrays and sharks.

The city dolphinarium was opened in 2008. It is still considered the largest in the country.

Three dozen kilometers from the city (the village of Okurcalar) one of the largest Turkish water parks is lost. Its technical base belongs to a hotel that is part of a common entertainment holding. There is a swimming pool with spectacular water slides especially for teenagers. Seniors can be content with two dozen rides, including super extreme ones. Those who like to relax and have fun will prefer a jacuzzi, artificial waves and sprinklers.

Shopping

The main commercial artery of the resort is Ataturk Boulevard. The Oriental Bazaar matches it, stocked to the brim with clothes, shoes, toys and small souvenir and gift items. When communicating with a private seller, be sure to bargain, boldly reducing the price significantly, despite the fact that the clothes here are already cheaper than in Russia. It’s not for nothing that Türkiye is traditionally known as the world’s clothing Klondike!

In the vicinity of Avsallar, Mahmutlar you can make the most profitable purchases, because... the cost of manufactured goods there is even lower.

Large quantities of refrigerator magnets, T-shirts with various symbols, colorful scarves, and hookahs are taken from here. The local factories are famous for their samples of coffee drinks, tea, seasonings and confectionery. Experienced travelers advise going to the periphery, where you can easily find rare and cheap handmade items (dishes, boxes, fans, figurines, towels) that are highly reliable.

Excursions from Alanya to Turkey for 2018-2019: description and prices

Alanya is a wonderful place, but besides it, Turkey is full of interesting locations that you should definitely visit! Excursions from Alanya to Turkey will help you with this, which are ideal for those who do not want to limit themselves to Alanya alone when exploring the natural beauties of Turkey. The most popular destinations here are Pamukkale, Cappadocia and Istanbul. We will describe them below in more detail! Well, you can find all offers from Alanya at.

Excursion to Cappadocia from Alanya

We have been to many places in Turkey, but no place makes such an indelible impression as the incredible Cappadocia. Its completely extraterrestrial landscapes are beautiful both from the ground and from the basket of a hot air balloon, with which the horizon will be dazzling almost every morning of your stay in this place. The only negative is that Cappadocia is 8-10 hours away from Alanya, so only excursions of 2 days or more are relevant here.

This is an amazing adventure to places that are stunning with their views of the volcanic landscape, where nature has made bizarre shapes of “caps”, “mushrooms”, “pillars” from the mountains. This place is protected by UNESCO, which already speaks of its importance. The program includes a visit to the numerous valleys of Cappadocia with their houses carved into bizarre rocks, the underground city of Saratli, as well as the Uchisar castle. This trip is worth two days 58 euros per person, and its price includes accommodation in a 4* hotel, including breakfast and dinner, as well as the accompaniment of a Russian-speaking guide.

Please note that a hot air balloon flight is not included by default in the price of an excursion to Cappadocia from Alanya. Read more about how to book such a flight inexpensively in our special article.

Excursion from Alanya to Istanbul

Another popular destination available for holidaymakers in Alanya is visiting Istanbul, the most interesting city in Turkey. It’s somehow even stupid to write about Istanbul; this is really the case when it’s better to see it once, rather than read another bunch of hackneyed enthusiastic epithets. Just check out one of the available programs below, buy tickets and go ahead and get to know the beautiful city of Constantinople!

A great opportunity to get to know the main attractions of the city located in the Sultanahmet area. This includes Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Egyptian Bazaar and much more! The journey will begin in the middle of the night and by 9:00 you will find yourself in the famous Constantinople. A day ahead will be full of impressions and wonderful discoveries. Also, as part of this excursion, you will take a boat trip along the Bosphorus and enjoy views of the city from a completely different perspective. The cost of an excursion from Alanya to Istanbul is 190 euros per person. This price includes the services of a Russian-speaking guide, round-trip flights and transfers.

Pamukkale is another visiting card of Turkey. Probably every one of our compatriots knows about the existence of this place and what it roughly looks like, even those who have never been to Turkey. Yes, this is exactly how the image of the travertine terraces of Pamukkale shimmering in shades of turquoise has been replicated in the mass media! Let's see what excursions are available to this amazing place.

A day tour to Pamukkale from Alanya is one of the most popular tours from Alanya, during which you will visit both the famous “cotton castle” of Pamukkale with its many thermal springs, and the ancient city of Hierapolis, located next door. You will also see and swim, if you wish, in the famous Cleopatra Pool and the Karhait Thermal Pool. In a word, the trip will be extremely eventful! The cost of travel from Alanya to Pamukkale is 45 euros per person and it already includes entrance fees, as well as lunch and dinner.

Do you think that the previous program was not rich enough for you? 🙂 Well, then here’s an extended tour, during which, in addition to Pamukkale and Hierapolis itself, you will also find yourself in the mountains, near the wild Lake Salda. This place is usually called catchy in tourist brochures, but there is still a reason for it - the Turkish Maldives. Yes, yes, it is with this luxurious resort that the Turkish lake is compared because of the similarity in color of the water. It is interesting that as part of this program, you do not have to visit various tourist boutiques with junk; the tour is maximally concentrated on visiting interesting places. This trip costs more than a standard tour, but it’s worth it - 58 euros per person.

Well, if you doubt whether it’s worth it, then you can find a great review of Pamukkale from the site’s editors.

Water and sea excursions in Alanya by ship

Well, what vacation at sea can be complete without sailing on yachts, diving, snorkeling and other water activities? Naturally, in Alanya there are no problems with these entertainments, because this is the Mecca of package tourism and there are no problems with entertainment for every taste and color. An excursion on a yacht will be interesting for both adults and children, since for the latter there is a very decent animation on board, which is praised by many tourists who visited this particular excursion. The cost of such a boat trip for almost the whole day is 16 euros per adult and half the price for children under 12 years old.

This excursion will take you all day and begins with detailed instructions on board the ship. Well, then one dive after another awaits you! There are spots near Alanya where you can dive to depths from 3 to 40 m. This will allow both beginners and experienced diving gurus to enjoy the process. In any case, both will be delighted with the opportunity to see octopuses, moray eels, urchins and other marine life. Well, professionals will be able to go in search of a real sunken ship or explore underwater caves. And all this underwater splendor will be yours in just 55 euros per person.

Excursions to the picturesque natural places of Alanya

In addition to the large number of well-known natural attractions, which we have already written about above, there are also some near Alanya that only experienced tourists have heard of. Yes, none of them gained fame from Pamukkale, but maybe it’s even better? Huge crowds of tourists are not brought here on giant buses; here you can enjoy the silence and unity with nature, the murmuring of streams in the shadow of gorges and simply enjoy the genuine beauty of the surrounding nature. “What kind of places are these?” - you ask. And now we will answer you! 🙂

Alanya sightseeing tour with private guide

All excursions presented above are regular, group excursions. But the Tripster portal mainly specializes not in them, but in original author’s programs from private guides from among local residents, which they come up with on their own. Why are we doing this? 🙂 Just to say that if you want to quickly and efficiently see the main attractions of Alanya, then it is best for you to book a walk with a private guide, and not a tour from a tour operator to the shops with trinkets and tourist belongings that guides in hotels actively sell. Here is one of the really high-quality programs.

This is an original sightseeing tour of the city, which will last a full 5 hours. A Russian-speaking guide will meet you at the historical symbol of the city - the Red Tower and take you through the most interesting historical places: an open-air museum, a citadel, and along the streets of the old city. You will enjoy beautiful views of Alanya from a bird's eye view on the observation deck, see a beautiful mosque, take great pictures and end your journey at Cleopatra Beach, famous for its purity and transparency of the sea. All this will cost you 65 euros for a company of up to 6 people regardless of the number of participants.

Gastronomic excursions in Alanya

Continuing the topic of interesting individual offers, we want to tell you about tasting excursions, which are also conducted by private guides in Alanya. After all, what could be better than a walk through proven Turkish eateries in the company of a person who understands all the nuances of local cuisine? Here are a couple of interesting food tours.

Closer to dessert, the most delicious excursion. 🙂 A most interesting walk with a tasting of oriental sweets awaits you. You will not only try the delicacies that all tourists are delighted with, but also admire the view of the city from the observation deck, from where you can see the beautiful Alanya port, and also hear a whole series of entertaining stories, legends and traditions about the Turks, their sweets, way of life, customs and everyday life. Total 40 euros for a group of up to 4 people, and the impressions are just to lick your fingers!

And last but not least, the excursion for today is a tasting tour with an enticing name! This is a fascinating and tasty adventure with a Russian-speaking guide who will tell you about the main traditions and customs of the cuisine of different regions of Turkey. You will not only hear many fascinating stories, but also try real culinary masterpieces of Turkish cuisine. In 4 hours you will visit 6 cafes and restaurants at once, where you can enjoy the tastes and smells of unique culinary masterpieces. During the summer, Russian tourists still prefer to choose the famous resorts of the Turkish Riviera, known for their excellent recreational conditions. Among them Alanya– the city, famous for its sandy beaches, plays an important role. After all, here on a tiny coastal area tourists find everything they need to remember the days of their luxurious vacation for a long time. And local beaches are often compared to the famous French Riviera. The main beach here, named by residents in honor of the famous queen of Egypt, surprises vacationers with the unusual properties of the local sand. It is believed that it was brought here for Cleopatra - the name of this place is associated with her name.

To the amazement of travelers, the sand on this beach never becomes so hot that tourists, as usual, are simply unable to take their favorite sunbathing. The secret is explained by the special composition of the sand, which contains virtually no dust. The sea waters in these places are transparent and clean. Similar sandy beaches are found only on the North African coast. But the uniqueness of this place does not at all lead to an unpleasant increase in the cost of accommodation in hotels. On the contrary, the prices here are quite acceptable and reasonable.

Resort towns in the Alanya region

Alanya – Mahmutlar Village

Vacationers who are looking for a vacation opportunity closer to the central part go to an inexpensive and small resort village, which is located only 12 km south of the Alanya, But Mahmutlar the most distant from Antalya airport (almost 140 km). It is known for its fairly reasonable hotel prices even during the season, because most of the hotels in Mahmutlar are located 100-300 m from the beaches.

Alanya – Okurcalar Village

Starting from the northern part of the Alanya region (the part that is closer to Antalya), the first resort on the seashore is called. Located nearby Okurcalare– a sand and pebble beach, famous for its unusually warm sea, the most suitable conditions for recreation for adult tourists and their children. Throughout the entire Turkey There is no place where the water temperature would be higher than here. In this area there are mainly 4 and 5 star hotels hotels located right on the seashore among beautiful sand and pebble beaches.

Alanya – Incekum Village

Immediately behind Okurcalar, the resort village begins, the name of which, translated from Turkish, means “fine sand”. On Incekume– an eight-kilometer sandy beach located in the resort town of the same name, first of all, young travelers who love these places for their amazing sunsets, silence and wonderful air breathed in by picturesque pine forests will find ideal conditions. The hotels here welcome guests even in winter.

Alanya – Avsallar Village

, this is a resort town located 20 km from. The resort is famous for one of the most beautiful beaches and a rich selection of entertainment: restaurants, bars, cafes, discos, shops, souvenir shops and all kinds of retail outlets.

Alanya – Konakli Village

Just like Mahmutlar, it is located close to the central part Alanya. The resort is located just 12 km west of Alanya itself. The hotel base is conducive to an inexpensive holiday, because there are mainly inexpensive hotels here, and in terms of Konakli beach it is slightly inferior to Avsallar, since here the sand is mixed with pebbles. Travelers will not have to spend long choosing a beach in a wonderful Alanya and its surroundings. Here, anywhere on the coast, regardless of whether it is sandy or pebbly, favorable conditions for an eventful and rewarding holiday are always preserved.

Being a person who is in love with the Mediterranean Sea with all my heart, I gladly accepted the offer to go on holiday to Alanya with my whole family in May. Holiday prices there are much cheaper than in most Eurozone countries. From friends we heard many interesting stories about the city and its attractions. Looking ahead a little, I will say that the impressions left from the trip cannot be compared with other people’s stories; they turned out to be much brighter and more interesting.

Short video about Alanya

How to get there

We took the simplest route, which most Russians follow, by booking a trip through a travel agency (by the way, you can look at them). But there are many other ways to get to Alanya. For them, sea and land types of transport are used. This is very easy to do, because Alanya is the largest resort city on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey. This website has a special one where you can see current flight prices.

By plane

Light modes of transport are also popular - ATVs and motorcycles. But they are only suitable for couples traveling without children. Rental cost is 30-40 USD. You can rent a bicycle. For this purpose, Call a bike rental points have been set up in Alanya. Payment and unlocking of the bicycle is carried out through a special machine where a credit card is inserted. The cost of daily rental is 10 TRY, but 150 TRY is blocked on the card. This is to prevent bike theft.

Be sure to rent a car in Alanya to visit the surrounding villages and attractions. You don’t have to travel far to do this – they are all located within 45-50 km from the city. True, you need to allocate at least 3-4 days for travel; you won’t be able to see everything in one day.

Traffic on the streets of Alanya is heavy, but all drivers drive carefully, unlike Kemer, where we almost had an accident. Roads are in good condition, even in mountainous areas. During all our trips we saw traffic police with radar only once - at the entrance to Alanya. But we were driving at the allowed speed, so they didn’t stop us.

Alanya - holidays with children

Children are treated very cordially here - in hotels, hotel employees try in every possible way to help both with getting settled in the room and during breakfast and lunch in the dining room. Hotels with 4-5 stars always have animators for children and even special children's rooms where, for a fee, parents can leave them when they go on a mountain excursion. If you choose private apartments, you can independently arrange for the children to spend time during their holiday in Alanya.

Trips to water parks will delight little travelers. In addition, there are many free children's playgrounds and mini exercise equipment on the embankment. At the entrance to the city on the road from Antalya, there is a popular amusement park. A ticket for 5 different carousels costs 40 TRY or 10 EUR.
