Tours Valaam Kizhi Solovki Karelia without prepayment. !!!tour the main shrines of the north Kizhi-Valaam-Solovki

Welcome to the capital of Karelia – the city of Petrozavodsk. A port of five seas, located on the shores of the second largest fresh water body in Europe - Lake Onega. A real European city, with a national Karelian-Finnish flavor, the same age as St. Petersburg, cozy, beautiful, with its own unique history. Founded in 1703 by Peter I, the city was founded by Catherine II in 1777.

Cannons for the Russian army were cast here, cast iron decorations for St. Petersburg were made here, and the famous Onezhets tractors were built here. It is not for nothing that the name of the city contains the word factory. But the capital of Karelia is also a place of beauty and unbridled nature - sometimes harsh northern, sometimes calm, balanced in a Scandinavian way.

You can choose trains to arrive in Petrozavodsk from 7:00 to 9:30. We will meet you at the railway station starting at 8:30 with a large red sign “Golden Ring of Karelia”. You can give your suitcases to our manager, leaving with you only the essentials for the first day of the excursion - the manager will take your things to the hotel and they will be waiting for you in the storage room until check-in.

Our group's breakfast will last from 9:15 to 9:45.

At 9:45 we set off on a fascinating walking tour of Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia. We will visit Round Square (Architectural Ensemble and Governor's Park), walk around the city center, explore Cathedral Square, visit the main attraction - Onega Embankment and at the end point of our excursion - at the monument to Peter the Great, we will go to visit the pearl of Karelia - Kizhi Island.

At the river station of Petrozavodsk, our guide will put you on a comet - a high-speed ship that will escort us to a beautiful island in Lake Onega, where masterpieces of northern wooden architecture are collected. Kizhi is a unique open-air museum, a UNESCO monument and a very pleasant place, first and foremost, for the soul.

The journey to Kizhi Island takes 1.5 hours. Upon arrival on Kizhi Island, you will be met by a guide-employee of the Kizhi Museum. A sightseeing tour of the island takes 1.5-2 hours. During it you will see masterpieces of the Russian North: the Transfiguration Church, the Intercession Church, a tent-type bell tower. At the same time, dear guests have time to walk around the island on their own and buy souvenirs.

After walking around the island, we invite you to land at the comet to return to Petrozavodsk. An hour and a half on the road and we arrive in Petrozavodsk. For dear guests: free time. You can stroll along the embankment to the hotel, or continue your walk around the city, visiting a couple of excellent restaurants. Have a nice evening!

DAY 2 / MARBLE CANYON RUSKEALA

Good morning! In the next 2 days, the Northern Ladoga region awaits us - another amazing natural treasure trove of Karelia. And if Zaonezhye is located on the shore of the second largest lake in Europe, then Ladoga region is decorated with the first largest lake in Europe - Ladoga. Locals say Father Onego and Mother Ladoga.

Our path passes through the Valley of Heroes, the locals call it the Valley of Death. It's not called that for nothing. Here, during the Winter War of 1939-1940 between the USSR and Finland, from 130 to 150 thousand Soviet soldiers died or went missing. The war lasted a little over three months - and such losses. It must be admitted that the Finns, led by Manerheim, gave a serious rebuff to the Red Army. By the way, the Finns then killed more than 22 thousand people.

240 kilometers and we are already there. But let's not start with Ladoga. And from the waterfalls. We will see Tokhminsky or Ruskeala waterfalls. The famous Soviet film “The Dawns Here Are Quiet...” was filmed here. A must-have photo as a souvenir - the place is very picturesque. For those interested, there is a recently opened ecological trail with bridges suspended directly above the waterfalls.

Today we will eat in the Lutheran Church. The Karelians and Finns living on this land will hospitably welcome and feed us, after which we will move on.

By the way, another point on our route is connected with the Finns - the Ruskeala marble canyon. A unique quarry, which, according to one version, was flooded by the Finns with water from nearby rivers. After all, it was the Finns who rented this quarry for many years and mined marble here. Who would have thought that years later thousands of tourists would flock here. There really is something to see here.

Marble Canyon Ruskeala is a Karelian brand of new times. Ten years ago, desolation reigned here. Now an amazing natural object opens before our eyes. There is everything for a tourist here! Gorgeous views, trails, caves. In summer, for an additional fee, you can go boating, climb over the canyon on a rope bridge, and also go diving.

We will have a walking tour of the marble canyon (1.5 hours). The 1.5-kilometer-long eco-trail around Ruskeala has many panoramic platforms that offer views of this unique place. In addition, you can move a little away from the main path and go into the depths of the through cave (adit). Here you will discover the real secrets of the canyon, its heart. You can also look at deposits of Italian marble.

The Ruskeala Canyon is beautiful at any time of the year. So whatever the weather, you will not remain indifferent. Full of impressions, we go to the Pitkyaranta region to check into a hotel. Upon arrival, dinner will be organized for everyone - you need to refresh your strength. Did you know that Karelia is home to the largest waterfalls? We have a surprise for you! We will go with you on a walk to the Nizhny Koirinoya waterfall or “Strawberry Falls”. It is called so for the large number of berries growing in the surrounding area. It is located near the confluence of the Koirinoya River into Lake Ladoga - a short walk from our hotel. The Koirinoya waterfall is not high - only four meters. However, it has several features that distinguish the waterfall from other falls.

The banks of the Koirinoya River in the area of the lower waterfall are made of pink granites, divided into small blocks. In bright sunlight and in the rays of sunset, an unusually beautiful picture appears. The combination of pinkish tones of the shore, greenery of the forest, snow-white foam and blue sky creates a picturesque and very lyrical landscape. You can admire it for a very long time.

Another feature of the waterfall is that it is classified as a waterfall. Directly above it, the river enters a narrow trench of hard rock, ending in a four-meter cliff. Here it accumulates its power and in the end “shoots” water like from a fire hose. This feature of the waterfall is very popular with kayakers who, during high water periods, come to Koirinoya to jump in a boat from a cliff.

At the foot of the Koirinoya waterfall and a little to the side you can see the remains of piles and mounds left from the flushing mechanisms that belonged to the Mitrofanovsky plant. Built 170 years ago, it was supposed to “process ores,” including tin, which Russia so needed. But for various reasons it did not work at full capacity, and then burned down and was not restored.

Despite the fact that the waterfalls of the Koirinoya River are not as popular as the famous Kivach, they are worth a look. After all, it is here, in the quiet Karelian outback, that real nature hides, communication with which is so lacking for everyone who lives in big cities.

We check into a hotel and gain strength. Have a nice holiday!

DAY 3 / HOLY ISLAND VALAAM

Well, are you ready for a new adventure? Good morning! We have breakfast and go to Sortavala - local residents do not decline the name of this city and are very offended when someone does this. This is the national color! This is one of two Russian cities with Swedish roots (the other is Vyborg). The architecture here is an incredible mixture of cultures - Swedish, Finnish, Soviet, Russian.

But that's not where we're going now. In the city of Sortavala, fast-moving comets await us, which will rush us to the second holy island of our adventure - the island of Valaam.

And again - deja vu. Only this time it’s not the Onega skerries, but the Ladoga skerries with their bays, straits, rocks, islands and coastal forest, which is sometimes centuries old. No wonder they have been planning to create the Ladoga Skerries Nature Reserve here for many years. There are no other places like this in Russia.

And again a comet, and again water. This time the holy island is not so far away - only 22 kilometers. By the way, did you know that in Ladoga, the only freshwater body of water in Russia, there are seals - small black seals? No wonder they say that Ladoga is almost a sea.

And here it is - the holy island of Valaam. It’s as if nature specially created it away from the shore. This Kizhi is closely connected with the shores and nearby villages. Balaam is different. It was created for privacy, to be away from civilization.

We arrive at Monastyrskaya Bay. Here we will have a walking tour of the central estate of the monastery. We will visit the Transfiguration Cathedral, where the relics of Saints Sergius and Herman, the founders of the monastery, are located. And what is a holy island without a concert of a creative team! This time the singers of the male ensemble “Valaam” will sing for us.

After enjoying the beauty of church hymns, we will move on the Meteor to Nikon Bay. Here we were already waiting for a Lenten lunch in the refectory, prepared within the walls of the monastery.

And again on the road. The New Jerusalem tour will reveal unknown fragments of the island's history. We will visit the Resurrection Monastery. Further along the forest road we will walk to the man-made Garden of Gethsemane, where the cozy Gethsemane monastery with the wooden Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located. The excursion ends at the Mount of Olives, where one of the most poetic views of Ladoga opens.

Agree, Valaam heals both the body and the head. It's calm and peaceful here. And you can take a break from the bustle of the world. It’s no wonder that both President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill often like to come here. Still, there are few places in Russia where you can heal your soul.

Now it's time for us to head back. From Nikon Bay “Meteor” takes us back to the glorious city of Sortavala.

Gain strength, because you have not yet seen the unique and one-of-a-kind house-museum of Kronid Gogolev. It is located in an old Finnish building built in 1899. But the building is not as interesting as the works of Kronid Gogolev. Before us is an exhibition of paintings made in a unique style of wood carving. Did you think that after Valaam nothing would surprise you? Well, be surprised! These are probably the very first paintings in 3D format. The theme of the Russian North, expressive nature, ordinary people, their way of life and holidays - all this is in the works of Kronid Gogolev.

We spend the evening of the third day on the bus. We are going to Petrozavodsk, where a cozy hotel awaits us.

DAY 4 / GOLDEN RING OF KARELIA

Good morning, dear travelers. What did you dream about? We hope all the beauty seen over the previous 3 days. And today we are waiting for the excursion “Golden Ring of Karelia”.

We will visit the five largest attractions near Petrozavodsk: the picturesque Mount Sampo; the first Russian resort “Martial Waters”, founded by Peter I; ancient volcano Girvas; and the famous Kivach waterfall.

Sampo, according to Karelian-Finnish mythology, is an object that gives happiness. The world-famous “Kalevala” tells us about an object that has magical powers and is considered a source of abundance, happiness and prosperity. There is also Mount Sampo in the Karelian region, named after the miracle mill. Mount Sampo is a rocky hill about 40 meters high. On its slopes there are hiking trails with signs and stairs with railings. Thus, the climb to the top is quite comfortable. There is an observation deck at the top, from which magnificent views open up. Below, the ancient forest rustles and the beautiful Konchezero stretches out.

The first Russian resort, called Marcial Waters, awaits us ahead. The place received its unusual name from the light hand of Peter I’s assistant. He examined the composition of local mineral waters, discovered a high iron content in them, and gave the name in honor of the god of war, Mars. The resort is famous not only for its waters, but also for its special microclimate. It is better to drink medicinal water from the springs right away, because local mineral water is not stored for long. After a fairly short time, sediment appears in it, and it loses its medicinal properties. We will definitely combine the tasting of marcial water with a tour of local attractions - we will see with you the Caretaker’s House, the Church of the Apostle Peter and the pavilions above the ore mining site and the former source of medicinal water. The temple is the only building that has survived from Peter's times. Moreover, it was built according to the design and handwritten drawings of Tsar Peter.

Our path lies to the remains of an ancient volcano, or rather to the town of Girvas. This is a dry waterfall. This is how it became after the waters of the Suna were diverted for the needs of the Palyeozersk hydroelectric station. The places around Girvas are very picturesque: reddish granite rocks framed by quiet pools, small waterfalls, abandoned timber rafting trays.

Karelia, the land of thousands of lakes and rivers, is famous for its waterfalls. There are many of them here, but perhaps the most famous is Kivach. It is considered the decoration and pride of the region, because this waterfall is the second largest on the plains of Europe. Kivach lost primacy only to the Rhine Falls in Germany.

Today Kivach is part of the reserve of the same name, which was created in 1931. At first it was assumed that the protected area was created to preserve the most beautiful waterfall in Karelia. Later it turned out that the local nature is very diverse and interesting, so the territory of the reserve expanded to 10 thousand hectares. Kivach is a must-see place for all tourists coming to Karelia. We will visit the waterfall itself, walk along hiking trails with shady gazebos, for everyone - cafes and souvenir shops, as well as an arboretum with a Karelian birch grove and a Nature Museum. Kivach Waterfall is the visiting card of Karelia. Coming to the region of lakes and waterfalls and not seeing this padun, as the locals call it, is an unforgivable mistake. Kivach is an amazingly beautiful place. The snow-white waterfall, like an expensive canvas, is framed in the greenery of centuries-old forests. There is a belief that it takes away anxiety and bad thoughts. You just need to concentrate on the foamy streams and let the water take away everything bad, wash your mind and soul with cool moisture. Stand near the waterfall. Kivach generously shares his irrepressible energy and vitality with people. Everyone who has experienced this at least once returns to it again and again.

During the excursion we will stop at a cafe where you can eat and gain strength. And then - return to Petrozavodsk.

We hope your acquaintance with Karelia was successful! We are sure you will want to return! I will dream about Karelia for a long time!

Tours “Kizhi-Valaam-Solovki”: all the best impressions of Karelia in one trip

The land of lakes and forests is so filled with sights and interesting places that it is difficult to decide where to go if travel time is limited. Spending a short summer vacation and seeing all the best is the dream of anyone who goes here.

And, of course, three places are considered the most important pearls of Karelia: Kizhi-Valaam-Solovki - they are all located not far from each other, on the main lakes of the Republic. And, most importantly, having examined them, you will immerse yourself in the history of these places, and enjoy the beauty of northern nature, and you will be able to experience an unforgettable feeling of unity with beauty.

We have created several Kizhi-Valaam-Solovki tours that allow you to explore all these places and get unique experiences that are only possible here in Karelia.

“Karelian Silence”: two programs in Kizhi, Valaam and Solovki that will not leave you indifferent

So, right now a journey into the future awaits you, during your summer holidays as part of the “Karelian Silence No. 1” tour.

Are you ready to travel to the most amazing places straight from Petrozavodsk? Meeting is right next to the train, at 8.55 am - what could be more convenient? Then we will have breakfast and go on a tour of the capital of the Republic: you will see all the most interesting and beautiful things, and then, along Lake Onega on the Meteor ship, go to Kizhi Island. Here you will visit the famous wooden buildings and the Church of the Intercession.

In the evening we will return to the city and check into the hotel “Piter Inn Petrozavodsk” - one of the best hotels in Karelia.

Day two will begin with a trip to the city of Sortavala, after sightseeing where you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the island of Valaam. The fast Meteor will take you there in 45 minutes across Ladoga.

A visit to the island includes: a visit to the Transfiguration Cathedral, the Assumption Church, and also a tour of the entire territory of the monastery, immersion in the life of the monks. You will have lunch in a real refectory, and then go to Nikon Bay and visit the monasteries of Valaam.

Traditionally, we combine a tour to the island with a trip to the Ruskeala complex - unique marble mountains formed as a result of the flooding of an old quarry with groundwater and rainwater. All this makes the Valaam-Kizhi-Solovki tour especially rich and interesting, and provides an opportunity to get acquainted with natural monuments.

On the third day you will go to Belomorsk, leaving the capital. Karelia will open up for you from a new side: surprisingly, Peter the Great discovered mineral water springs here, where representatives of the nobility gathered for several centuries. The Marcipal Waters resort is still in operation, and you can taste the healing water from the source.

From here we will go to waterfalls, in particular, the famous Kivach, and also admire the Karelian birches in the arboretum.

If you want to see much more, we have prepared an extended version of the Kizhi-Valaam-Solovki tour especially for you. The program of this trip is very similar to the first, with the only difference that you will spend 3 whole days on the Solovetsky Islands. During this time we will explore everything, visit the most hidden and little-known corners, and immerse ourselves in the secluded and harsh atmosphere of these places.

Experience an unforgettable experience this summer!
