River cruise with a child reviews. On a river cruise with children

Personally, I was worried that river cruise with a micro baby can be quite taxing for both parents and baby.
However, there is no need to worry.
Now I’ll tell you how vacationers live there.

1. My wife is an extreme sports enthusiast and is not afraid of anything.
-Let’s take Mike, let him travel with us!
Of course we'll take it, she's never even seen a boat so close.

2. Our motor ship - "Dmitry Furmanov" - is a comfortable four-deck motor ship of Project 302, built in Germany.
Named after the Soviet prose writer who wrote "Chapayev".
And the route is very short - two days - Moscow-Myshkin-Moscow.

3. We lived on the middle deck.
Between them you move along ladders. The word “stairs” must be forgotten here!
I advise you not to allow very young children alone on the ramps.

4. More about children.
The entire tour took place under the banner of a pirate party and there were actually 20 percent of the vacationers here, really.
We were greeted cheerfully. Any help and advice - at the reception.
Christina, thank you! You are gold!

5. Well, actually, let's go to the rooms.
The doors to the cabins are not thick, there is some audibility.
Especially hot couples - keep this in mind.

6. Welcome!
I immediately remember the country that created the ship - the GDR.
Nothing superfluous or pretentious. But everything is thorough.
There is also a full-length window.

7. The shelves are still pristinely empty and the aunt is on TV, realizing what this girl in red is about to do here...

8. Yes, about the views from the window.
In principle, you don’t even have to leave the cabin - you can see everything!
True, there is a possibility that you too will be like on TV. Therefore, close the curtains. Especially passionate couples.

9. So, what else is there.
Wardrobe, refrigerator (no minibar). Powerful climate control. Really powerful - heats up the room in a minute.
The most important element is the radio.
From there you hear information about the daily routine and announcements and talk about the places that float by outside the window.
Everything sounds very clear, intelligent and unhurried - ah, USSR...

10. Water closet. Or a latrine.
Combined. A shower head is also a faucet.
You can wash right there - there is a drain in the floor.
I won’t say it’s luxury, but it’s ok for undemanding travelers. Moreover, hot water is available without problems and is cleaned daily.

11. We go out to get some air.
I return to the fact that it is better not to let small children on the ramps alone.
And be careful yourself, especially if it’s humid outside.

12. Well, the decks are safe. Not slippery and the sides are high - everything is ok.

13. The bell rings, and we set sail!

14. It was raining outside, so there were few people on deck.

15. The rain, however, doesn’t bother me at all.

16. A mandatory element is water rescue instruction.
On airplanes they don’t let you try on a vest, but here they require you to.
Mike fell in love with the whistle and flashlight on the vest. And in general, all the children liked this carnival.

17. At this time, the adults began to warm up.
In general, drinking and food at the start are in the blood of Russians - be it chicken in a reserved seat or 2 x 100 whiskeys in a drink before departure...

18. The main thing is not to overdo it at the very beginning.
Joke. This is already halfway through the afternoon rest.

19. The ship has its own small library and desk books.
While the girls were memorizing Tsvetaeva, I was hanging out at the bar.

20. No. Just for some coffee.
Inexpensive, pleasant.
There is alcohol too, but somehow I’m not particularly fond of it..

21. About another fun thing.
An entire cabin is dedicated for children - a playroom. The animators are good. I would freeze myself, but I take up a lot of space...

22. Meanwhile - dinner!
Everything is also arranged with positivity and competitions.
In this matter, the main thing is not to overdo it so that tourists don’t feel disgusted - so here everything is as it should be.
It feels like experience.

23. The food here is delicious.
During the entire trip, the dishes were not repeated.
Well, champagne - for everyone. Those who especially want something stronger.
The staff is always welcoming and provides good service.
Like in a restaurant!

24. I didn’t have time to shoot anything - because I ate it right away, sorry...
And I don’t really want to injure you.
For example, dinner.

25. Dishes can be ordered for tomorrow all day.
A similar system is familiar to me from sanatoriums.
Wishes are written in these little books.

26. Children have chairs, but we like them on our knees.
And serious breakfasts))
Am I refueling well in the morning at a party? But I eat almost nothing at home...
This is greed at the buffet table.

27. By the way, you can also order breakfast in your cabin - at the right time and your wishes for the dishes.

28. It is recommended to burn extra calories on exercise machines, because wandering here for 2-3 kilometers is a bit difficult...

29. You can also sit in a bar - watch a movie, sing songs, drink wine.

30. It’s warm and dry there, not like on deck.

31. Although “outside” is also good - the views are constantly changing.
Fresh air, nature, quiet splashing of waves...

32. Well, I was pleased to get acquainted with the canals and sluicing.

33. While men talk about mechanisms and the work of prisoners on the canals, women are busy with their work.
Someone even for the first time..

34. Oh, what an angel you turned out to be!

35. Well, after work, a hearty meal and, you can relax mentally.
Concerts, discos, all sorts of shows, movies again...

36. Couples, couples, naturally!
The program is rich and at the same time everything is unobtrusive. I repeat, this is very conducive.

37. Let me generalize.
You can and should go on a river cruise with children. With breastfeeding babies, of course, it’s debatable.
But whoever is older will be in business. Like adults, he will be well fed and will admire enough of the beauty of our nature and the comfort of small towns.
And one more thing - this holiday is family and calm. And this is oh so lacking in our frantic life.
And these two full days next to each other were wonderful, despite the bad weather.
I hope my girls liked it)

We'll definitely go again.
And now with my little son!

Accommodation with a small child on a ship.

Typically, standard cabins on ships are similar to a compartment - a window, two beds along the walls and a table between them. Most major cruise lines offer free travel for children under 5 years of age without a seat in the same cabin as an adult. River cruises are not cheap and this is a good opportunity to save money and go sailing with the whole family.
How to sleep on a ship with a child? If you have a baby, then squeezing a stroller into the aisle between the beds is probably possible. A separate cradle, for sure. But you can sleep with a larger child in the same bed, but it’s not comfortable. The solution for comfort is to take a cabin of an improved category, so that instead of one single bed there is a folding sofa or the ability to put a folding bed. This time we sailed on it, it is considered a luxury ship, and all cabins have a double bed in it - it is very convenient to sleep with a baby.
On ships, a stroller can normally be placed in the cabin only when folded - there is very little space. But you can easily leave it in the common areas - no one will touch it.
It’s not very convenient to walk around the ship and the open decks with a stroller, but you want and, of course, need to - you can’t sit in the cabin the entire voyage :). But keep in mind the very steep staircase transitions from deck to deck. Although the ship's staff is always ready to help you - lift/carry you. The motor ship "Princess Victoria" is so far the only motor ship in Russia with an elevator!
Don't forget to take mosquito repellent and warm clothes for the evening. Even if the forecast predicts heat, it will be windy and cold on the deck in the evening. On many ships, those who wish to do so are given blankets to sit on the decks, but this is not a mandatory option.
And some who have not sailed have a stereotype that such cruises can cause motion sickness. So, I’ll say, it doesn’t shake at all. Although when purchasing a tour, managers advise taking a cabin on a higher deck, supposedly there may be vibration from the engine compartment below.

Meals for a child on the ship.

Usually, free accommodation for children without a seat does not include meals. This is perhaps the moment that worried me the most. How and what to feed?
The first option is that on any ship you can buy additional food for the child separately (it’s better to check the cost when purchasing a tour, each ship has its own cost).
The second and economical option is to eat at a common table. Today, on river cruises, most often you will be offered a buffet for breakfast, with cereals, omelettes, pancakes, etc. That is, with a buffet, the child will definitely not go hungry. Well, lunch and dinner - most often from the menu - will be shared “like brothers.” Vacationers choose dishes from the menu themselves, usually from several first and second courses, appetizers and desserts.
There are high chairs for children in restaurants, I hope there is enough for everyone.
I recommend taking only drinks from yours (except tea) and don’t forget something for snacks (fruits, cookies...). Regarding dairy products, when purchasing a ticket, check to see if there is a refrigerator in the cabin (we had one).
On any ship for common use Free hot water for tea and other things is available all the time. I know that there is a microwave somewhere (you need to check when purchasing a tour). But in any case, in a restaurant (only during its opening hours), if you need it, you can always ask to warm up your own for your child.

Entertainment for children on the boat.

There are no problems with this at all. In addition to caring parents, who, of course, will take their favorite and always new (for distraction) toys, books, pencils, almost all ships have children's rooms and often with an animator. The schedule of all master classes, group games, competitions, discos are announced in advance - don’t miss it. And walking along the deck, looking at the shores and water - this is a self-evident entertainment :). I recommend not forgetting your binoculars at home. By the way, I know that there are ships from which you can even fish.

Ask if there is something that worries you, I didn’t tell you. HAPPY SAILING!
