Three days on Borus: how can an ordinary Krasnoyarsk resident conquer a mountain range? Borus. Climb

This is the first entry about a trip to Borus to the waterfalls.

Borus is a multi-headed ridge of the Western Sayan, located near the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station. The ridge has clear outlines and several peaks: Maly and Bolshoy Borus, peaks Koshurnikov and Durakov. The highest point, the summit of Big Borus, is 2318 meters above sea level. The name of the ridge is made up of the initial letters of the surnames of the first sports conquerors of the mountain - Borisov and Rusanov; Geographically, the peak is called “Mount Poilov”.

It seemed too easy for us to go out in the morning in sunny weather, so we left the house around 4 pm, hoping that the rain that had been falling all day would stop by the time we arrived. But upon approaching the visitor center, that is, the beginning of the hiking trip, the rain did not stop, but on the contrary, it began to fall even more heavily. Naturally, all the paths were wet, streams flowed along the road

You can leave your car in the guarded parking lot at the visitor center; this pleasure costs 100 rubles per day. Each tourist also needs to register in a special journal, indicate how far you are going to go and your route; a symbolic 5 rubles are charged per person.

This is my first overnight trip to the mountains, I was very worried that I wouldn’t be able to make it, but the trail turned out to be very comfortable, along the way there are a lot of gazebos with benches, which I will show in the following posts. We didn’t go high, but only up to the waterfalls. I was surprised by the large flow of tourists; a lot of them were coming towards us, that is, going down, of course, because we started climbing at 6 pm. By the way, all tourists greet each other, it doesn’t matter where you go, where or whether you know these people, absolutely everyone greets each other.

Throughout the climb, the rain either became weaker or began to pour with renewed force, and fog periodically descended. We were very afraid of not having time to get up before sunset, but we got to the place exactly on time. The ascent, with all the halts and stops, took a little less than two hours.

Having risen, we set up camp, went to get water from a stream flowing from the mountains, which, due to a mudflow a couple of years ago, now flows under the stones. We made a fire, warmed up the tea and had dinner in the dark. Due to the dampness and cold, we sat by the fire for a short time and took a couple of photos of the night sky. By the way, I didn’t think that anything would come of it, but it turned out very well.

Result of the evening: the road did not seem difficult to me, despite the rain and mud, it was probably more difficult for me to climb Kunya than Borus. In general, the fears were not justified, not even a single bush was covered with a mat, which is not like me at all. It was quite cool at night, and it was my first time sleeping on a rug in a sleeping bag, so I didn’t get as much sleep as I would have liked. But the nature and views were worth it.

A long-standing desire to go to Borus (this is part of a mountain range in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the Western Sayan system) came true during the May holidays of 2017.

1. You can get to Borus by train, bus or private car. A budget and fast option is a car. You need to get to the village of Cheryomushki, and after the village turn left onto the bridge over the Yenisei. The road across the bridge will lead you to the visitor center of the Shushensky Bor National Park. A couple of kilometers from the visitor center there is a tent camp. I went as part of a large group of 13 people and a dog. Our company chose the option of staying in small houses and rented the largest one for 17 people.

2. This is what the Talovsky Log tent camp looks like. There are double and four-bed houses with a stove. There is a bathhouse (I didn’t have a chance to visit it), a parking lot, toilets, a lot of firewood and clearings for tents.

3. There is also 1 gazebo with a roof - an alternative to the common summer kitchen of small houses. There are also 2 places with a fire pit and benches.

4. Price list with prices for the services provided by the Federal State Budgetary Institution National Park "Shushensky Bor". Valid as of January 14, 2017. All prices for services for renting houses, renting equipment, etc. can be considered. More relevant for vacationers on the territory of the tent camp "Talovsky Log".

5. We chose one of the ways to visit Borus - accommodation in a house, followed by getting up at 5 am, breakfast and going towards the mountain.

6. We took everything we needed for the climb: a flashlight, matches, a snack, raincoats, trekking poles and gaiters, if available and desired. It is mandatory for all participants in the hike to treat their clothing with tick repellent. In the evening, several people walked through the grass and immediately removed a couple of these harmful insects.

7. We walked a couple of kilometers from the houses and got to the beginning of the EcoBorus ecological trail.

8. Many people travel these kilometers by car. Here the road turns left to an observation tower, which can also be reached by car, but not by car.

9. At each stop it is useful to study the map of hiking trails, although all the boards do not have the “you are here” mark.

10. Such information boards with trail maps are located throughout the entire ecological trail.

11. The shield informs and warns.

12. One of the stops at the fork. The path to the right leads to the waterfalls. We need to go straight up.

13. Blooming rosemary in the Shushensky Bor national park.

14. Magical forest paths with fairy tale roots.

15. There are streams along the way. It is better to replenish your drinking water supplies.

16. Having passed wet and winding paths with roots, we come out to the kurumnik.

17. Cloudy weather accompanies us throughout the climb.

18. Having got out to the kurumnik, you can see the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, the slope of the Gladenkaya ski complex without snow, a quarry and the Sayanogorsk aluminum plant.

19. Having overcome the ascent along the kurum, we get to another place for people to stay - the valley of the Venice stream.

20. The second option for visiting Borus is to drop into the valley with backpacks. Accommodation in tents, cooking on gas, and significantly less time for climbing to the tops of Small and Large Borus. The parking option here seems to me to be the most correct from the point of view of a successful climb to the top, as you can monitor the weather.

21. All the tops and peaks of the ridge are in the clouds.

22. An avalanche came down from here while we were there.

23. A stream flowing from Lake Venice.

24. After having a snack, our group crosses the stream and rushes to the top.

25. In some places the snow falls through and the participants go knee-deep.

26. Kurumnik. In inclement weather, moving over such stones is very dangerous and requires maximum concentration from each participant in the hike to avoid injury.

27. Cheerful participants on the route.

28. Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant (SAZ).

29. On this day, the weather did not allow us to reach the top, which was caught by clouds. At the finish line, the wind intensified, it began to rain and hail, and then it was decided to go down to the camp. Some tour groups went up in such weather and disappeared into the clouds. In the photo on the left is a large one, on the right is a small Borus.

30. The next day we took a short walk to the Observation Deck.

31. From the observation deck you can see the Peak of Fools, Big Borus and Small Borus. If you are going to Borus, you need to remember that the weather here is changeable; the scorching sun can be replaced by pouring rain. Therefore, you must always be in full combat readiness to face bad weather and equipped with everything necessary for survival.

32. View of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station.

The first time I didn’t conquer the summit. There is an incentive to go again to look at a different Borus. You choose the options for visiting yourself: in the comfort of a house or in the comfort of a tent, everything depends on your preferences. You can reach the top from any point, only the travel time will differ. Thank you for your attention!

p.s.: how much does it cost to go to Borus from Krasnoyarsk? - you can answer this question yourself. Plus the price of transfer (train, bus or car round trip), method of accommodation (house or tent (almost free)), food (price category of products, layout, number of days and your taste preferences - this adds up to the amount for food ). The most economical option for traveling to Borus: by car for 4 people with accommodation in a tent.

Borus is a multi-headed ridge of the Western Sayan, located near the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, in the vicinity of Sayanogorsk.

The mountain is part of the national park.

The ridge has clear outlines and several peaks: Maly and Bolshoy Borus, peaks Koshurnikov and Durakov. The highest point, the summit of Big Borus, is 2318 meters above sea level. The name of the ridge is made up of the initial letters of the surnames of the first sports conquerors of the mountain - Borisov and Rusanov; geographically the peak is called "Mount Poilov".

Taiga forests lie at the foot of the mountains, the peaks, consisting of stone (golyak), are dominated by cedar woodlands. In winter, snow covers the peaks and, depending on weather conditions, disappears until August, sometimes remaining throughout the summer.

Outdoor enthusiasts prefer Borus because of the mountain waterfalls, lakes with glacial water, breathtaking panoramas and the absence of insects.

From the top you can see all the nearby surroundings: the ski resort - Gladenkaya Mountain (in the west), the steppe expanses (in the north), the infinity of the Sayan Mountains (in the south). In clear weather, Ergaki (in the west) will be visible; the distance from Borus to them is 130 km (as the crow flies). The cities of Sayanogorsk and Maina are visible; and, of course, the famous neighbor of Borus - as well as the reservoir.

The ridge is interesting for its complex alpine vegetation, represented by all the characteristic Siberian “alpine” species: alpine primroses and violets, golden and Daurian rhododendrons, anemones and saxifrages.

Climb to the top mountains are easy- this is a path along the taiga trail, on which you will find well-equipped rest stops. According to the degree of habitability, the following stand out among them: Vodopady, Pelekhovo and Banzai. From the bank of the Yenisei to the first of the listed sites is about 9 kilometers, to the second - 15, and Banzai is 17 kilometers away from the Yenisei. The path from the above-mentioned river to the cordon (about 3-4 kilometers) can be covered by vehicle. The road to the Waterfalls, located at an altitude of about 1200 meters, will take only one day of leisurely walking. The height of the Pelekhovo and Banzai sites is about 1600 meters above sea level. The first one, as a rule, is spent overnight; in just 8 hours from it you can reach the top of Big Borus and even return back.

For the comfort of tourists, a comfortable building was built at the foot of the mountain. hotel .

How to get there: Fly or come to Krasnoyarsk (by plane, train, car), regular buses run from the bus station to the Shushensky district. You can prefer a train going to Abakan, you need to get off at the station of the same name, and get to Mount Borus by bus. The most comfortable option would be a transfer provided by a travel agency: meeting at the point of arrival in Krasnoyarsk and delivery all the way to Mount Borus.
