Corfu beaches reviews

Today early in the morning we went to see the beaches of Corfu.
Let's go with a rental car in Corfu
Let's go from where we live now - Villa Artemis and drive around Corfu counterclockwise.
That is, we are going north along the eastern (north-eastern) coast of Corfu.
I was lazy - having passed from Nissaki before Paleokastritsy turned back home.

The sun shines directly into the camera lens and if I wanted to photograph something, I would get an overexposed image.
Therefore, I do not stop: it will not work to capture the bays of the northeast that come across on the way, and there is nowhere to stop - the roads to Corfu are narrow.

Only once we drive off the road to the beach, my wife read that the beach is famous - Agni(Agni).
I don’t know what it is famous for in tourist guides, but the place is worse than ours Kaminaki and did not even uncover the camera - just a bay with boats and yachts.
The parking lot is far from the beach.
I didn't want to swim here.

The second beach on our way to the north coast of Corfu is the beach Cogevin(Kogevina)
This beach is better than Agni.
But it is also inferior to ours.
But there is parking, the entrance, like ours, is pebbles.
The water is clear, but there is no zest.

If you drive a little further along the road, behind the cape in a quiet bay there is a shrimp farm.
At first I assumed that oysters are grown here, but then I looked at the shape of the cages in the water - for oysters they are square in shape, like in the photo

Beaches in the north of Corfu

We quietly move to the northern coast of Corfu.
The difference is felt: the beaches here are like the shores of some kind of estuary or swamp.
The coast is dirty in color and resembles a mixture of clay and earthen sand.

Ankle-deep for ten meters.
Sand sticks to the feet and is difficult to wash off.
Tactile impressions of contact are unpleasant.

I cross out the beaches in the north of Corfu from the places on the island that please the eyes.
I don't like the clusters of hotels package tourists, souvenir shops.
These are the beaches: Kalamaki(Kalamaki) and Seki(seki)

Beaches Sidari(Sidari) - muddy water, dirty sand, stinks of rot, many sunbeds and hotels.
The depth of the sea can be seen in the photo.
Right Channel of Love(Canal d'Amur).

Something like sucked from a finger: a shallow ravine punched from the thickness of petrified clay.
They say that if you swim through this channel, all the women will be yours.

It's true - I would really like it, but there was absolutely no desire to swim in this puddle.
This attraction can be crossed out from plans for visiting places in Corfu.

Cape Drastis

The next stop is the cape. Drastis is the northern point of the island of Corfu.
Do not park your car where everyone does it - drive further along the country road, why stomp in the heat on foot?
We didn’t go to the cape itself - I launched it there: I made a photo video without an entrance ticket of 10 euros.
The place is beautiful - I recommend it.

Further down the road we went to the beach. loggas(loggas)
This is not a swimming beach, although you can go down.
You better go to a bar Panorama and take a selfie on the glass canopy over the abyss.
To your right will be a steep bank of petrified clay.
You can see it and take a picture - see the map above.

Beaches in the west of Corfu

We are already driving along the western coast of Corfu and after Arila beach we drive south to the beach Agio Georgios Pagon.
Here we finally bathed.
The water is clear but ice cold. This is a feature of Corfu - on the west coast the water is much colder than on the east - cold currents.
On the shore of the beach there is coarse yellow sand, the entrance to the sea is deep, small pebbles at the bottom.

3 beaches were promised in secluded bays.
In fact, there are probably beaches there, but you need to leave the car somewhere in the village on the mountain and stomp on foot to these beaches for about 20 minutes.

Around the inscription on the asphalt No parking, no public parking was found.
In addition, stomping on foot under the scorching sun is not our method.
The drone also did not send it there. No photo.
Let's go further south to Paleokastritsa

The beaches of Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is very beautiful place- in this place, the coast is gnawed by numerous coves, some have been privatized by hotels or bars.
There are several public beaches in Paleokastritsa - the port can serve as a guide.
There is a large public parking lot. But a lot of people. After our cozy and small beach in the northeast, it’s uncomfortable here.

Organized tourists are brought to one of the public beaches of Paleokastritsa by bus - such as an excursion. It is possible that someone will understand my horror from this. Nevertheless, people enjoy the sea: they swim, take selfies and photo shoots with mermaids

It is too early to draw conclusions about the best place to stay in Corfu - we have one more day here before the trip to Albania, but I correctly guessed the current place, which I advise you.
Northeast of Corfu from the beach Barbati south to Kalami north of the Corfu Riviera.

Video from our beach

West coast beaches south of Paleokastritsa

It was time to see several beaches south of Paleokastritsa:
Ermones beach share two taverns and a hotel.
The beach is small and quite cozy.

There are small pebbles on the shore, the entrance to the water is good, comfortable.
The water is clear, there are no waves. It is best to swim here in the evening when the water is warm. The bottom is hard sand.

If you move to the right side of the beach, then further along the coast there is a narrow path and you can park your car and stomp to the bay with a secret beach.
There are nudists.

Mirtiotissa beach

It is a very beautiful beach with very difficult parking.
If you're lucky, you'll find a place to park your car downstairs.
Otherwise, you will have to smoke with rubber on a steep slope and park at the tavern or on the side of the road, and then stomp up and down on foot.

The beach is small and consists of several islands of yellow sand.
There are no waves. Entering the water is very comfortable.
The water is clear as a tear. The place was chosen by nudists, but they cluster around the edges and do not interfere with life.

Glyfada beach
I don't like it in the picture, so I took a picture of it from above.
Nothing special and lots of people.

Pelekas beach
This is horror.
Look at the photo:

That's all. All beaches are marked on the map - you can use for navigation.

Today I will talk about the features of a holiday on my favorite Greek island - Corfu. I have been to several islands of this wonderful country, but the island of Corfu has firmly taken the first place in my heart.

From skepticism to love

We rested on the island of Corfu in early September. I was driving with a skeptical attitude - this place was painfully praised, even suspicions creep in, but Corfu is a truly magical place, this is an island unlike any other in Greece. It has a strong Italian influence, especially in the cuisine and architecture. And this is the only Greek island where you can see the Adriatic Sea. The second sea in Corfu is the Ionian. In principle, the features of the island are such that in the morning you can swim in the Ionian Sea, and in the afternoon - in the Adriatic.

Vegetation and weather.

Corfu is very green. Compared to the islands of the Aegean region, it is just a jungle. But this lush vegetation has one caveat - it often rains and thunderstorms occur in Corfu. They are not protracted, but nevertheless the temperature of air and water can be lowered. It is better to go here in July, August and the very beginning of September. Later there is a risk of getting into frequent rains. Yes, there are a lot of mosquitoes on the island in the evening, be sure to stock up on funds from them.

The beaches of Corfu

The beaches in Corfu are the most diverse - sandy, pebbly, mixed. Everyone will find something to their taste. There are long and long, there are small coves. I will talk about the main beaches below in the review.

North coast of Corfu

In the north of Corfu - the Ionian Sea and sandy beaches. Still here beautiful sunsets. The longest sandy beach in the north of Corfu - Acharavi beach. We just stopped there. The sea in this place is warm. The beach is comfortable, although sometimes it fills with a wave of pebbles and it will be inconvenient for small children to go into the sea (such a dip near the coast is formed, and then again a flat sandy bottom). Adults - no problem.

Along the entire beach there are many hotels, both large and small. It's a matter of taste - what to choose. A feature of hotels in Corfu is that here even three rubles are very often on the first line. This is due to the peculiarities of the structure of the island - it is elongated and there is a mountainous area in the middle, so the hotels are pressed to the shore. Not all, of course, but most.

Another sandy beach in the north of the island - Agios Spyridonus. Saint Spyridon is the patron saint of Corfu. On this beach there is a chapel dedicated to him. The beach itself is in a bay, very picturesque and comfortable.

Also in the north of Corfu is the famous channel of love. This place Sidari. The place is generally quite calm, the beaches are sandy, but very compact. There are a lot of people on the beaches (since there are few beaches themselves). Hotels have both small apartments and large ones, but large ones are located away from the coast. For example, there is Cyprotel Panorama VIllage, which I considered as an option for myself, but abandoned this idea because of a child who would find it difficult to go to the beach.

In general, the coast in the area Sidari very picturesque because of the folded rocks. It seems to me that living here on the coast in apartments would be a good option.

West coast of Corfu

The west of Corfu is the Adriatic Sea. It is colder than the Ionian and there are mostly pebble beaches. The water near the clearest, and when viewed from above - inky blue. Here is lush and picturesque vegetation. In the west of Corfu is the famous Paleokastritsa.

Not far from Paleokastritsa there is a castle Angelokastro. A stone staircase leads to it, and magnificent views of Paleokastritsa and the Adriatic open from above.

Down the west coast there are two wonderful beaches - Glyfada beach and the beach Agios Georgios (Agios Georgios). Both are wonderful. Sand, wide coastline. On the beach of Agios Georgios at the very end there are picturesque cliffs.

This is Glyfada beach:

This is the beach of Agios Georgios:

East coast of Corfu

On the eastern side of the island of Corfu is the capital - the city of Kerkyra. Be sure to visit the old town and the sea fortress, they are very atmospheric. Old city reminiscent of old Italian films. Narrow streets, shutters, clothesline, cages with canaries...

In Corfu there is a Rue Liston, built on the model of the Parisian Rue Rivoli.

The temple of St. Spyridon is popular with tourists. The relics of the patron saint of the island of Corfu are kept there. If you travel by car, then along the harbor there is a large free parking. There are many cars on it, but if you wish, you can find a place.

The sea on the eastern side of Corfu is Ionian, very warm. This is the strait between mainland Greece and the island. There are hotels for every taste, I will write below about those hotels that I considered and in which our friends were.

Not far from Kerkyra is an architectural monument - Achillion palace. Empress Sisi lived there. The palace is small but pretty, and around it is a well-groomed garden. Most of all I remember the patio with Greek statues and giant statue Achilles.

Northeast coast of Corfu

The northeast of Corfu is a mountainous area, since it is here that Mount Pantakrator is located. It has a small monastery. Climbing a mountain by car is absolutely realistic, the main thing is that there is no fog, it interferes with a comfortable ride along serpentines. The mountains are very beautiful, quiet and easy to breathe.

And along the northeast coast of Corfu, there are hotels and villas of celebrities. This is the most respectable area of the island. Somewhere here, Brad Pitt's villa is also lost.

One of the coves in the northeast:

In the same part of the island is the former capital of the island - the fishing town of Kassiopi. It has the freshest and most delicious fish.

On the south We didn’t get to the islands, but according to local stories, there are wide sandy beaches and strong waves. Surfers go there.

Roads and car rental

You can rent a car in Corfu. It is better to do this not in a hotel (prices will be inflated), but in rental offices. Keep in mind that problems with punctured wheels and broken windows are not included in any insurance. On the primer, insurance also does not work. The roads in Corfu are difficult, in some places there are quite steep serpentines (not for beginners driving), and in some villages the streets are so narrow that two cars simply cannot pass.

Kitchen in Corfu, Greek, but with a strong Italian influence. Delicious pizzas are cooked in wood-fired ovens. The signature drink in Corfu is kumquat liqueur. It's so orange and like cough syrup.

Acharavi Beach HOTEL. We stopped here. 3-star hotel, located on the 1st line from the beach, there are both standard and studio rooms (with a kitchen). The food is very decent, although not a very large selection. For dinner, 2-3 hot dishes, appetizers, salads, desserts. Everything is delicious. There is a beach bar with panoramic windows and a good selection of cocktails. 2 swimming pools - adult and children. The rooms are small but quite comfortable. The only thing did not like- lazy maids (poorly cleaned) and a cot (not a bed) for a child for extra. place.

HOTEL Cyprotel Panorama VIllage(3 stars) in Sidari. A good option if you are ready to walk to the beach for 10-15 minutes (downhill there, uphill back). The beach is sandy, good for children - long shallow. In general, I liked Sidari, it is quite calm and picturesque here.

HOTEL Corfu Maris in the town of Benitses. Pay attention to this option. This is a small hotel, it has practically no territory. But it stands right by the sea, it has its own beach, all rooms with sea views and the hostess is Russian (married to a Greek). Places are sold out instantly. The hotel is quite budget friendly. The chefs are very praised and, which is rare for Greece, there is porridge for breakfast (you feel a Russian hostess). Of the minuses - on the one hand the hotel is the sea, and on the other - the road and quite busy. But if you do not fight the noise of cars, you can safely go here. Another plus of this place is that it is near the airport, it is quick and convenient to get there. I wanted to get here, but I didn’t have time - all the rooms were sold out.

HOTEL Messonghi Beach Resort (3 stars). This is where our friends stayed. This a good place for holidays with children. Small beach, warm sea, children's mini-club, slides, swimming pool, animation.
With numbers - as lucky. There are new ones, and there are old ones. They are very scolded and you can go to swear at the beginning of your vacation about resettlement to normal conditions. The rest of the hotel is good. There are always a lot of people in it, but if this does not scare you, then choose it.

HOTELS Louis

And one good piece of advice to you. Beware of hotels in the Luis system, for some reason they do not like Russians. I lived at the Louis Hotel on the island of Zakynthos and it was not the best experience. The problem is that for some reason Russians are en masse settled in the worst rooms. In Corfu, my friends got into history. There are two or even three Louis hotels in Corfu. One of them is located on the chic Glyfada beach, the other is next to Kerkyra. Our friends who bought rooms in Louis, which is on the beach, were sent to the one in the city, citing the lack of free rooms. And this is when booking through a tour operator and much in advance. As a result, instead of the sea there was a pool, as well as scandals and a ruined vacation.

What else is good about the island of Corfu - from here they are taken to the mainland to the eighth wonder of the world - Meteora. The tour takes a whole day, but the spectacle is worth it.

If there are questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Happy travels and holidays!

Probably, in every city, and even more so if we are talking about a resort, there are their own "signature" places. It is by these sights that you can guess the place and make your impression of it. There are several such places on Corfu (or the island of Kerkyra, as the Greeks themselves call it). But the main calling card of this place is gorgeous beaches. In this article, you will discover best beaches Corfu.

Pebble beaches

For your convenience, we have divided the main beaches of Corfu into two categories: pebble and sand. Some beaches are pebbly and sandy, this will be discussed separately in the description.

Magnificent Paleokastritsa

If you decide to search the Internet for photos of the beaches of Corfu, the first place will probably be pictures of Cape Paleokastritsa. Many consider this cape the most colorful attraction of the island and strive to go there.

From the capital of the island of Kerkyra to Paleokastritsa you can get on the Green Bus (this is the name of the bus), a ticket costs a few euros. The journey will take about thirty minutes. Another way to admire the cape is to book a tour of Corfu, not a single tourist group passes by. However, in this case, it is unlikely that you will be able to plunge into the warm sea.

If you already go to the beach, then by all means take a mask and fins with you, because the water is the cleanest, and the underwater world is rich. Everything around is fragrant with the aromas of the Mediterranean.

Buses come straight to the central beach, there is also a pier. On it, locals offer a ride on a yacht or boat through the grottoes and caves. It seems that there are too many foreign tourists, but most do not make noise and observe the harmony of this place. Here you will find incredibly picturesque bays. In Paleokastritsa - the best beaches of Corfu, on the map you can find a city in the western part of the island.

Here the sand is mixed with pebbles. The entrance to the water is purely sandy, so special shoes are not needed. Be prepared that the June water will be cold, it is better to swim later. But at any time of the year, the turquoise transparent sea will not leave you indifferent!

Barbati - trendy beach

Barbati is a very clean pebble beach with clear water. From the shore you can see Albania, and if you sail away, a magnificent view of Mount Pantokrator will open. Everyone can rent sun loungers and umbrellas (there are always enough of them, the trestle beds are placed in several rows). There are places to eat on Barbati. You will find here both a shower and a restroom. Despite all the amenities, the place is not crowded. The only exceptions are weekends, when the Greeks also want to relax. If you get tired of the heat, you can walk along the olive grove that separates the coastline from residential complexes.

In general, Barbati is a “glamorous village”, the best place for parties where the cream of Greek society comes to throw off the burden of fatigue. And if you are looking for beaches on the island of Corfu where you can also hang out, then you are here! Clubs are within walking distance, where you can get a beautiful tan and cool off with a delicious cocktail. If you love music, fun, and the smell of coffee in the air, then you're in the right place.

Modern Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is comfortably located in the most beautiful bay of Corfu, which you can immediately recognize from the photo. Typical features of the beach are the characteristic rocky terrain and small rock, which seems to be looking out of the sea. This is the western coast of the island, and is traditionally considered European. There are very few Slavs in the village and by the sea.

Agios Gordios is civilized, there are many places to eat. There are taverns with delicious national cuisine. Moreover, in many coastal restaurants and bars, customers are offered free sunbeds. Even if you don't buy anything, the sunbeds are inexpensive. Two sun loungers with an umbrella cost from 5 euros per day.

If you are interested in where the sandy beaches are on Corfu, you will find a partial answer here. Agios Gordios is rather big, three kilometers long. There is sand on the shore, but the entrance to the sea is strewn with small pebbles. There are no sharp drops, the entry is smooth, and deep places start about 15 meters from the shore. If you search, you can stumble upon a wild beach with amazing fine sand not only on the coast, but also in the sea. In general, the place is ideal for relaxing, especially with small children.

Porto Timoni - when the mountains embrace the sea

Porto Timoni is a truly virgin place with lush vegetation and clear sea. In terms of beauty, this is the best beach in Corfu. public transport you won’t be able to get there: only by a rented car, by taxi or on your own two feet. Even if you go by car, on the way to the beach you still have to overcome the descent from the mountain (about a quarter of an hour), and, accordingly, you will have to climb back. We recommend bringing a change with you. But the views of Porto Timoni are worth all the effort. Therefore, when asked about the most beautiful beaches of Corfu, you will surely talk about Porto Timoni.

Before the descent, you can refresh yourself in a cafe, and forward to the gorgeous pebble coast. In order not to get lost, look at the signs and look for the inscription "Double beach" (double beach). In general, the title is not entirely true. In fact, there are three beaches, it’s just that it’s even more difficult to get to the third one than to the first two, so there are usually no people there.

Going to any of them, it is advisable to take a sun umbrella with you, because you will not find shade. The northern beach is windy, the water seems colder. But in the southern Porto Timoni there is no wind at all, so there are a lot of wasps. For those who do not want to climb mountains, there is an option to get to the beach by catamaran or boat.

Bataria - a beach with white stones

Bataria is cozy and clean, but the pebbles on it are large. Trestle beds and umbrellas are paid, almost all are laid out on stones. When entering the water, pebbles can cause trouble: pebbles can injure the legs, especially for babies. It is better to immediately purchase rubber shoes for swimming.

But the views are simply fantastic: azure water contrasts with white stones. Great views of nature! The photos come out great. However, there are also disadvantages.

The beach is small, there are a lot of people during the day. The sun loungers are uncomfortable, the umbrellas are old and sometimes broken. There is no restroom or shower. There is only a cafe where you can visit the toilet. But there are changing cabins on Bataria. But in terms transport accessibility no questions, there is parking above the beach.

Rovinia - beauty wildlife

Rovinia beach is a small pebbly and rocky beach. Buses do not go here, but you can easily get there by car, boat (sea taxi) or on foot. Parking is available nearby. White pebbles, blue sea, enticing grottoes. The water is crystal clear, there is no algae, it's a sin not to snorkel and try to catch the fish with your hands! The sea is deep.

A secluded place, but still it will not work to call it paradise. There is dirt and in terms of improvement there is something to complain about. There are no sun loungers and umbrellas. In addition, due to the fact that the beach is wild, there are no buoys and restrictions for boats. Everyone on a motor boat scurries along the coast. Sometimes this creates a danger: people are in the water, and a boat is sailing nearby. You never know how it might end.

Without instructions from the locals, Rovinia beach is difficult to find, because there are no signs. The road to the beach is picturesque in itself, running through olive groves. You can buy food on a small boat that brings snacks and drinks. They sell decent sandwiches, inexpensive beer and cold coffee.

This is interesting: What sights to see in Corfu in the first place.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

Those who do not like pebbles, but have chosen Corfu for their vacation, will find good sandy beaches on the island: noisy and secluded, popular and not crowded.

Agios Georgios - a secluded place to relax

This sandy beach is clean and large. There are inclusions of pebbles at the entrance to the water. There are usually few people here.

Employees of hotels, shops and tourist shops do not know Russian words at all. Our compatriots usually rest on east coast, and we offer tours there.

You can get to Agios Georgios at any time of the day or night by taxi, in about twenty minutes. Corfu is full of serpentines and rocks, so if you have a phobia of heights, you may feel uncomfortable.

The entry into the sea is beautiful, but there can be waves in this part of the island. Although for many this is a plus. Of course, you can’t go surfing, but you can ride the waves with small children. Dolphins swim by. For vacationers, they sometimes arrange their amazing performance.

The sea is shallow for the next ten meters, then the depth begins. In the line of sight you can always find a shower with fresh water to rinse off.

Uncrowded Gardenos

This beach is ideal for a break from the noise of popular places on the coast of Corfu. Locals and tourists who live nearby rest here. It is not one of those beaches that people go to from the other end of Corfu. Gardenas is huge, completely sandy - sand both on the shore and in the sea. The water is warmer than in Paleokastritsa.

If you go there by car, it is better to take umbrellas and blankets for lying with you. Umbrellas are conveniently stuck in the sand, it will be possible to save on rent. Open space, the wind walks almost always.

There are shops and restaurants in front of the entrance to the beach. There is a shower and changing room. You can see fish and other marine life in the water.

On the beach there is a small and simple restaurant with very affordable prices. You can order takeaway food and enjoy your food while looking at the sea from your lounger.

Mirtiotissa - don't be shy

A stunning beach, one of the best and most picturesque in all of Greece. The main part of Mirtiotissa is given to nudists. Get ready for it. The beach is modest, cozy, with a sandy gentle approach to the sea.

A feature of the beach was its secluded location: you can get here only by a rented car or moped. By the way, in order to go down to the sea, you will have to overcome a sharp descent, and a scooter with a weak motor may then not go upstairs. Umbrellas here are surprisingly free, they are handed out to everyone at the entrance, but you have to pay for the opportunity to lie on a sun lounger.

This is one of the prettiest resorts in Corfu with sandy beaches. There is a bar with drinks and snacks, and a restaurant along the way. Due to its specificity, tourists from Western Europe and representatives of sexual minorities. However, there are many families with children.

Another wonderful beach is Paradise. In translation - " paradise beach". Tourists love it for its soft sand, convenient access to the sea and clear water. In addition, the beach is very exotic and secluded.

It is important that you cannot go there by land, you will have to get there only by sea.

If you are sailing on a boat, remember that it is forbidden to land on the shore. However, if there are no people on Paradise, an exception can be made.

According to the rules, you need to anchor at a distance of fifty meters and swim like Robinson Crusoe. This means that you won't be able to take anything with you. Most best time for mooring - early morning. A taxi boat will cost fifteen euros for each passenger, and renting the entire boat for the day will cost about 80 euros. Mooring is convenient, time can be planned as you like.

The left side of Paradise beach is more “civilized” and gentle: there are sun loungers and umbrellas. The right half is deserted, there are large stones in the sea. In general, the beach is long and generally pleasing to the eye, but if you want to explore the coast better, bring shoes for walking on the rocks. Sheer white cliffs, dense greenery, a long narrow strip of coastline - your heart will forever remain here!

Marathias (Marathias)

Wide clean sandy beach with a pleasant entry into the sea. It is easily accessible by car or scooter. There are few tourists here, quiet and comfortable. From visitors most of Greeks, and almost no Slavs. Clear water with occasional small waves and wind. The depth near the coast is shallow, so Marathias is suitable for both small children and the elderly.

Huge space where you can play beach games or just sunbathe. Almost everyone praises the stunning "golden" sand on Marathias. There are plenty of bars and restaurants here. Relaxing music is often heard. All in all, a fantastic beach for all ages, safe for kids. A sunbed with an umbrella can be rented here for 3.

photos and reviews of the best sandy beaches

Corfu Island (Kerkyra) - in the Ionian Sea, it ranks second in size. Despite the large number of interesting sights, the island has another feature that attracts tourists from all over the world - a large number of beautiful beaches.

Greek beaches, including the beaches of Corfu, are the best in all of Europe. Along the island there are a lot of beaches with a clean coast and water.

In every town of Corfu you can find an exotic bay, and the most modern hotels are located on the coast. The infrastructure of the island is very well developed, so the entertainment is varied, as well as water sports.

In the east of Corfu, a tourist can find many coves that are isolated.

And the trees approach the beach itself. This area is considered the busiest, it is here that the elite residential area Kommeno and the largest village of Dassia are located. It is noteworthy that the infrastructure here is the most developed.

Dassia This is the place where you can find both sandy and pebble beach. They are well-groomed, well-equipped and comfortable. The beaches of Dassia are an ideal comfortable holiday for the whole family. Despite the fact that the prices are high, there is plenty of entertainment for all tastes. Restaurants, taverns, concerts, exciting water sports and other equally interesting entertainment includes the village. It is also a great place for walkers. Dassia is located 11 km from the city of Corfu. And it is possible to get from the city on blue buses that run every 30 minutes. But, as a Corfu resident said: "It's cheaper and easier to get to your desired vacation spot by car or taxi around the island."

Ipsos Pebble beach, which is quite long. It is unlikely that you will be able to relax here with your family, as this is one of the most crowded resorts on the island. Lovers of bars, nightlife here is the place, they will not be bored. Ipsos is located 14 km from Corfu, near Dassia and Barbati.

Nissaki Beaches with small pebbles, located at a distance of 22 km from Corfu on the northeast coast at the foot of Mount Pantokratoras (Pantokrator). This " small island» located on the road that leads to Kassiopi. For a quiet family holiday, this is the perfect place.

Gouvia Most inexpensive resort for active young people. In the past, there was a small fishing village here. Now here picturesque beaches from pebbles, a small bay, trees that are very close to the water. There are also other campsites, restaurants and small hotels. The beach of Gouvia is located 8 km from the city of Corfu. You can get to it both by bus and by car.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

In addition to pebble beaches, there are a lot of sandy beaches in Corfu. In addition to pure white sand, the beaches are famous for their picturesque places and the cleanest sea. The terrain on the north coast of Corfu is flat, so the mountains are quite far away.

    • Paleokastritsa is a resort that includes 6 beaches: Agia Triada, Ampelaki, Agios Petros, Agios Spyridon, Alipa, Lagrotta and Platakia. This resort is an ideal place for families with children and for diving.

The former choose the beaches of Paleokastritsa because there is good sand and a gentle entrance to the sea. The latter prefer to rest in this resort because of the heavily indented edges of the coast, the many bays hidden from the waves and the colorful underwater world. Agios Spyridon can be called the only completely sandy beach on Paleokastritsa. The rest of the beaches are pebble or sand and pebble. Each Greek island is good in its own way and has its own unique features and zest. Corfu, the main island of the Ionian Islands, has its own unique face. What attracts and amazes Corfu tourists? Let's analyze the 5 main features of a holiday on this island.

1. Features of nature and resort villages

Of all the Ionian Islands, Corfu is the northernmost. Its length is 64 km, width - 32 km. The length of the coastline is almost 218 kilometers. In the north, the island is very mountainous, while the southern part is located in a lowland. Thus, the north of the island can be considered more picturesque. The whole island is surrounded by olive and citrus groves. There are also enough coniferous trees in Corfu, but, frankly, there are not so many of them as, for example, in Thassos.

For those who want to feel the flavor of this island without leaving home, we recommend reading Gerald Durrell's excellent book "My Family and Other Animals", dedicated to the life of the writer and his family in Corfu. Well, for those who decide to personally see the beauty and originality of Corfu nature, we remind you that this year the charter from Minsk flies throughout the season, from June 4 to September 27, the duration of the rest is 10, 11 days, tour operators are consolidating the programs " Aerotravel and Kanulas Travel.

Attention! One of the main features of Corfu is that due to the cold currents on the west coast, the water is slightly colder than on the east. This does not mean that you or your children will feel uncomfortable swimming in Paleokastritsa, but the magnificent color of the local water, so to speak, will invigorate. You need to be ready for this. However, you also need to prepare for warm, almost "steam" water on the east coast of the island.

Resorts in Corfu are scattered along the coast. The villages of the eastern part of the island have a developed infrastructure and rich nightlife(for example, Gouvia). Here are the most prestigious resorts islands, among which we will single out, perhaps, Kommeno.

The northeast and south are suitable for family holidays surrounded by nature. Benitses and Kanoni are famous for their shallow waters and calm seas, while Kavos is famous for its long beach.

Pearl west coast– Paleokastritsa – suitable for lovers active rest. By all accounts, this resort has one of the best beaches in Corfu.

By wealth historical heritage Corfu can be compared with the island of Crete, which is also offered for flights from Minsk.

This is largely due to the fact that the picturesque and rich island at different times was influenced by different cultures and, as a result, absorbed all the best civilizational achievements of mankind.

Just a little bit of history.

In 395, the island joined the Roman Empire, and then it belonged to the Byzantines. In the 13th century, the Venetians came to power. They ruled the island until the 18th century, so the influence of the Venetians on music, language and cuisine is noticeable in Corfu to this day. The long-ruling Venetians were replaced by the French, who, however, were forced out by the Russian fleet under the command of Ushakov after a short time. And also not for long. In 1807, as a result of the war between Russia and Turkey, the Ionian Islands are given to France, but after the fall of Napoleon, the archipelago goes under the protectorate of England. Only by 1864 does it become possible to reunite Corfu with Greece.

It is well known that on small islands, the best way to get acquainted with nature and sights is to travel around everything on your own in a rented car with a good map and quality guidebooks in your hands. But if you have to choose between prefabs excursion tours, then we recommend that you opt for the following options:

After that, travelers go to Paleokastritsa, famous for its magnificent landscapes and the extraordinary beauty of the water in the bay. You can go for a walk in the grottoes or just enjoy lunch in a Greek tavern with magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes.

Agios Gordis. The village has a wonderful three-kilometer beach and beautiful views.

Sidari. It is located 35 km from Kerkyra. One of the most beautiful places in the region is the sandy channel through the sea, which is called Canal d Amour (channels of love). 4. Corfu style and cuisine

Do not look for a very violent party in Corfu! The island is for lovers of exquisite, high-quality, rich in impressions rest. The ideal way to spend time in Corfu is to rent a car and explore the picturesque beaches and picturesque villages on the island on your own. Renting a car in Corfu will cost about 60 euros per day. The roads on the island are good, the traffic here is very slow, the average speed is 40-50 kilometers per hour.

There are two classic cuisines in Corfu: Italian and Greek. Seafood dishes are also excellent here.

5. Iconic hotels

With hotels on the island, everything is more than safe. There are apartments, mid-range hotels, and, of course, excellent five-star hotels.

Of the most popular "five" should, perhaps, be noted Grecotel Corfu Imperial 5 *. The hotel is located on a small peninsula - thanks to this convenient location, almost all rooms and bungalows of the hotel have sea views. He is immersed in greenery.

In this, Grecotel Eva Palace 5 * is in no way inferior to him. This hotel positions itself as a place for a romantic getaway: families with small children are accepted here only in the high season, all other months only couples rest here.

From the category of slightly more democratic "five" we recommend paying attention to Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa and Grand Mediterraneo

Among four-star hotels, Aquis chain hotels enjoy an excellent reputation. The Aquis Sandy Beach Resort 4 * hotel is located in a magnificent place - Agios Georgis. Outwardly, it is absolutely simple, but located on one of the most beautiful beaches mediterranean sea. Here is a completely unusual white water, as at the bottom lies a white slab with waves of washed sand. The entrance to the sea is gentle, and it is quite shallow here, so the water warms up amazingly. For holidays with children, this is a very suitable place, as the hotel has a mini club; in addition, it offers all food systems - from breakfast to all inclusive.

One of the most popular three-star hotels on the island - Messonghi Beach 3 * - the largest in Corfu. This hotel is good for families with children, it occupies a vast area, which runs a nice train. There is a beautiful sandy beach and good rooms. The hotel will not leave anyone indifferent, everyone will like it, besides, it is also inexpensive here. Practices the system "all inclusive".

Expert opinion

Dmitry Platkov, head of the VLP company:

“The north of Corfu is the Adriatic Sea, and since I am not indifferent to the Adriatic in principle, I will probably rank this part as the most beautiful. This is really an amazing place in terms of landscapes, relief - it's so beautiful that it takes your breath away. There is a lot of greenery here, there are grottoes, small islands off the coast - all this looks very impressive. There is also Sidari, famous for its landscapes, a place of unique beauty, with picturesque Canals of Love. The Adriatic is home to most of the wide sandy beaches, although they can be found all over the island. But it is the north of Corfu that is famous for its sandy beaches, which in the northwest begin to alternate with powerful rocky outcrops into the sea. The most beautiful place in this part of the island is Paleokastritsa.

The rest of the island, its western and eastern coasts, is the Ionian Sea. It is warmer than the Adriatic, this is a generally recognized fact. On the east coast, north of Corfu town, there are many beaches on the rocks, and between them there are numerous coves where you can safely enter the sea from the shore. And on the west coast, in the area of Glyfada and Agios Georgis, there are wide luxurious sandy beaches and dunes. The picturesque lake Korission is also located here. As in the northwest, in the southeast of the island, the beaches can alternate: in one bay - sand, in the next - pebbles or a rocky outcrop with beach platforms.

Of the large settlements, one can single out Acharavi in the north, the Paleokastritsa region in the west and, perhaps, Kavos in the south. Everything else is very small, but extremely pretty and cozy villages scattered along the coast, there are a lot of them on the island. It is possible that in some village there will be a club that gathers tourists and residents of the surrounding villages, or a tavern with live music. But in general, in terms of atmosphere, a holiday in Corfu will be calm, although the hotels here are large and try to offer guests maximum services and good service.

If a client wants entertainment and parties, he needs to settle near Kerkyra Town in order to be able to go to Liston, the main street of the city, at any time, and merge into the nightlife there. This is the main Entertainment Center islands, the resorts are much calmer. The exceptions are Sidari and Kavos, two small villages that are very popular among English youth.

Hotels on Kofu are characteristic, each has its own special atmosphere - this is not Spain, where hotels can provide good service and food, but at the same time not have their own identity. In Corfu you will not find faceless hotels, and in this regard I really like them: they cannot be confused with each other. Different food systems are common in hotels - breakfast, half board, all inclusive. The latter system is most common in three-star and four-star family-type hotels. Hotels that are not suitable for families with children offer breakfast and half board.

If a person plans to travel to the northwest coast without children, I would recommend taking breakfast only in hotels. There are many taverns where you can have a great and also inexpensive lunch and dinner. You should not "lock" yourself within four walls, since many taverns are located in picturesque places, hang over the sea or have a view of the monastery.

What is also very cool in Corfu is that it is much easier to get to the “floating” monasteries in Meteora from the island than from Chalkidiki. If you have never been there, I recommend it. On the mainland, the road takes a very long time, there are many serpentine sections, and from Corfu you first sail on the ferry, and then only 2 hours remain on the new road.

There is also a very interesting excursion program to the Italian Bari, also with a transfer by ferry. Excursion from Corfu includes a tour of Bari and the fabulous Apulian town of Alberobello. It is not cheap - it costs about 300 euros. But the impressions will remain truly unforgettable.

Corfu is famous for its interesting architectural monuments, picturesque landscapes, excellent climate and ideal beaches.

The beaches on the island are truly magnificent - soft golden sand replaces small pebbles, and the clear sea and a well-developed entertainment sector complement fabulous holiday people of all ages. On the beaches of Corfu you can spend time in complete comfort and safety. It is allowed and even recommended to relax with children of any age.

You can see Corfu, photos of beaches and the cleanest sea in this material. Below we will talk about the most popular and best beaches on the island.

Nissaki

This beach lies in a cozy bay, protected from winds and strong waves. It is located in the northeastern part of the island. Nissaki Beach is great for a relaxing, measured rest, here you can easily find a secluded place. Romantics are very fond of Nissaki precisely because of the small bays in which you can hide from prying eyes and admire the amazing sea views.

Nissaki is also popular among diving enthusiasts - crystal clear water makes it possible to see marine life and the delights of underwater landscapes, as well as explore caves in the rocks. This beach is also suitable for families with children.

Not far from Nissaki there are several restaurants where freshly caught fish, sea delicacies and amazing Greek dishes. A little further is the fishing port, where you can rent a boat to go fishing or take a short trip along the coast.

Sidari Beach is located in the area of the village of the same name. It is considered a resort for the youth here is quite fun and crowded.

Sidari includes a long coastline, as well as several small bays separated from each other by sandy capes. One of these capes forms the Canal of Lovers - a picturesque and romantic place where couples love to meet sunrises and sunsets. There is a legend that a couple who swim through the canal holding hands will never part.

The infrastructure of Sidari Beach is well developed - it offers paragliding, yachting, quad biking, diving and surfing schools. Nearby there is a large number of cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs. There is a water park in Sidari. And in the port there are small ships on which you can go on excursions to the Diapontia Islands.

Peroulades

Many tourists come to Peroulades Beach to enjoy the magnificent sunsets. The beach itself is a narrow strip of sand, above which tower high sheer cliffs. The strip is so narrow that only one sun lounger can fit in the coastal zone. They go down to the beach along rather steep wooden stairs, arranged right in the rocks. During high tides or a small storm, the coastal strip is completely covered with water.

At the top, on the cliffs hanging over the beach, there are several parking areas, as well as a restaurant with a panoramic terrace offering amazing sea views. Here you can also spend the night. Peroulades Beach is quite popular, so you need to book tables in the restaurant and apartments in advance.

Agios Gordios

This delightful sandy beach is located in a beautiful bay surrounded by eccentric cliffs overgrown with olive trees and vineyards. The sand on the coastal strip is fine and soft, and the descent into the water is long and gentle. The sea is calm here, thanks to which local beach popular with travelers with small children.

Along the coast stretched a number of houses for tourists. Each house has its own access to the sea. In the nearby area and its surroundings there are many bars, cafes where you can have a good meal or enjoy soft drinks. As on other beaches on the island, here you can rent umbrellas, sunbeds, air mattresses,

Paleokastritsa
