An interesting and educational tour of Vienna for connoisseurs. During this short trip you will see all the main attractions of the Austrian capital.

On the Ringstrasse boulevard ring, all possible architectural styles will parade in front of you: the imperial residence of the Hofburg and the palaces of the “new aristocrats” of the 19th century, the “twin museums” - the history of art and natural history, the Parliament and the City Hall, the State Opera in Vienna, the Imperial Burgtheater, as well as the Baroque Karlskirche and the Viennese Secession - witnesses to the history and glory of the Danube Monarchy.

Next, the tour follows the embankment of the Danube Canal in Vienna, where one of the most original residential buildings in Europe is hidden - the so-called Hundertwasserhaus, created by the Austrian artist and architectural dissident Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Away from historical center The Prater Park, beloved by everyone who lives in Vienna, stretches out, over the crowns of which for more than a hundred years the red carriages of the Riesenrad Ferris wheel have been floating, swaying and creaking with old wood. The excursion will continue on the northern bank of the Danube - albeit beautiful, but, alas, not at all blue. UNO-City lives its own dynamic life - with the UN headquarters and skyscrapers reflecting the Danube waves.

The last point on the excursion route will be the former summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty - the Schönbrunn palace complex with its beautiful park, where you will have the opportunity to stay and independently explore the palace from the inside, visit the zoo and other attractions of Schönbrunn.

  • Museums on Maria Theresa Square;
  • Vienna Opera;
  • Imperial residence Hofburg;
  • University of Vienna;
  • City Hall;
  • Austrian Parliament building;
  • Historical monuments and churches on Schwedenplatz.

Ticket prices start from €35. Using the route map, you can determine the most attractive places for yourself. The main attractions of the Austrian capital are concentrated in the central part of the city. Buses run every 15 minutes.

I’m telling you how we traveled for 4 days in Vienna along all the routes of a double-decker sightseeing bus, and also arranged river walk along the Danube. We saw all of Vienna, a little bit of the Vienna Woods. I’m sharing a way to stretch a 3-day ticket into 4 days!

Yellow Vienna Sightseeing sightseeing bus. We started the trip from stop 8 Augarden of the red line, we. We didn't have tickets in hand. We waited for the bus. We bought 2 tickets for 72 hours from the conductor, which included unlimited travel on all routes, a walking tour in English and 1 boat trip. We paid €43 for this pleasure. Without the boat, tickets would cost €29 for 48 hours.

How did we stretch the tickets over 4 days?

As you can see, tickets are not cheap at all. While still at home, I was racking my brains about what to buy: , or just tickets for a double-decker bus. I chose the latter + boat trip.

We extended the 72-hour ticket over 4 days. The first trip was at 18:00, which means the last one should be no later than 18:00 on the fourth day!

1 day – red route Red Line

This is the main route that connects all the others. As usual, we completed the first lap.

We climbed to the 2nd floor. In the evening it was already empty. Let's go with the breeze to the center of Vienna. These days we did not use ordinary city transport at all.

Headphones are provided upon entry. You connect them to the back of the front seat, select the desired language using the numbers, and that’s it – you just enjoy your trip around Vienna from the second floor.

These buses are called "Hop on Hop Off" - this means that you can get on and off at any stop. We saw something interesting, walked around, then caught the next bus. Central routes They go very often, about once every 15 minutes.

And this is a famous one, where they hold classical concerts with dinner.

Standard for Vienna, but unusual for us - girls in dresses on bicycles (and sometimes even in heels!). Cyclists are the main road users in the city. They make disdainful noises or ringing noises when pedestrians walk along their paths.

We pass a stall with popular Viennese fast food - sausages, mustard and buns. When you have no money and want to eat, this is just the thing!

The Vienna State Opera is the keeper of the traditions of classical art, the symbol of musical Vienna, the largest opera house in Austria. The stop here is a little longer than usual. From here it is easy to walk to or to.

OU! Take it easy! We were overtaken by another symbol of Vienna - the famous old red tram.

Stands on Maria Theresa Square. Together with another building identical to it - I confuse them all the time.

We are crossing the Danube Canal for the second time, which means that the circle is coming to an end. Enough for today. We met with Vienna.

Day 2 – boat trip

Our ticket included only 1 trip on the boat, and there were several routes. We decided to ride to the maximum – on route A+B. I don’t quite understand whether it’s possible to get off and then get on the next flight.

First flight at 10:30. We decided to take a walk. The journey from the pier took about 30 minutes. The first step is to exchange the receipt for a full ticket at the ticket office on the 2nd floor, otherwise you will not be allowed on the flight.

There were quite a lot of people. We took a seat on deck 2 on a bench in the shade.

Our cheerful boat cuts through the waves of the Danube Canal.

Soon we will have to cross the floodgates. I remembered my childhood trips with my grandfather along the Kama and Volga. We have many gateways.

On the shore I saw a fast black boat. If you like extreme sports, then ride it along the Danube.

Meanwhile, we are passing the Danube City. The weather is great today!

The Viennese call it the Jubilee Church or - it was founded in the year of the 50th anniversary of the ascension of Franz Joseph to the throne, the temple is located on Mexikoplatz Square. My favorite church in Vienna.

Nice panorama of the Danube city. Visible on the left. We'll go there a little later.

The building with golden spherical domes, a tall chimney tower and colorful walls houses. As you can see, the style of the architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser can be seen here. He did not immediately agree to work on this project. As an avid advocate of the environment, Hundertwasser believed that garbage should not be burned, but rather recycled as much as possible and benefited from it. Vienna mayor Helmut Zilck had to assure that the heat from burning garbage would be used to heat enterprises and housing. The architect was also promised the strictest compliance with environmental safety measures at the new enterprise.

A very strange European habit is not to swim in rivers. The Viennese bring barges, fill them with chlorinated water and swim. But the green water in the Danube will be more pleasant and definitely less harmful. I don't understand them.

After a 4-hour cruise we headed to the center on a red line bus.

We walked around Schönbrunn Park for so long that we completely forgot about the bus schedule. The last bus leaves at 18:55.

Remember I told you how it’s possible? I ordered a taxi through the Uber app. I had it there free trip for €10 promo code q46rh81kue.

Mercedes Vita minibus arrived :-)

Day 3. Mount Kahlenberg and Klosterneuburg Monastery

Today we ride on the Green Line. Pay attention to the schedule. Buses run once an hour. And between the 1st and 2nd flight there is a 2 hour break. 10 minutes to stop. This is enough to run and take a photo. We decided to take a walk and got stuck for 2 hours. This time is too much! There's not much to do here.

On the outskirts of the Vienna district of Döbling there are two mountains - two neighboring peaks of almost the same height: Leopoldsberg and Kahlenberg. We're on the second one now.

The Josefskirche Church in the memory of the Viennese is associated with the significant event of 1683. The Polish governor Jan Sobieski liberated Vienna, which was languishing under the siege of a 200,000-strong Turkish army. Sobieski launched his attack from Mount Kahlenberg, having previously celebrated mass in the mountain temple. At the entrance portal of the church there is a board confirming historical fact. We met many Poles in the church.

484 meters – height of Kahlenberg; The TV tower rises 165 m above the mountain.

The place is touristic, so the number of people here is appropriate.

Wait another hour and a half for the next bus. We had a romantic snack in a cafe with a gorgeous view of Vienna.

Having nothing else to do, we went to the very top of Mount Kahlenberg - there is a TV tower and the Stefaniewarte tower. From this place nothing can be seen, no panorama. Let's move on...

Klosterneuburg is a suburb of Vienna, located at the very Vienna Woods and at the foot of the Leopoldsberg mountain. We only had an hour to explore the monastery. The place is very beautiful and well maintained. And what peace and tranquility there is here. A tour of the monastery is paid, but you can walk around and through some buildings for free. 1 hour is very little!

Satisfied that we somehow managed to catch the bus, we headed to the center of Vienna. On the way, you can stop by the heuriger in Grinzing and drink some wine.
