What time does 1 bus start running. How public transport will work during the New Year holidays

Among the most popular places to celebrate the New Year are the streets of Moscow. And then, in New Year holidays few people stay at home. Muscovites go for a walk at the Journey to Christmas festival, ice skating on giant skating rinks and tubing hills, skiing and sledding... Helps them move around the city public transport, which operates these days on a special holiday schedule. RG found out what it is and where you can’t go by car.

Along Tverskaya only on foot

“Journey to Christmas” brings together thousands of people in the capital who are not afraid of either frost or slush. A dense crowd of people walks along the sidewalks of Tverskaya, moving from site to site, looking at the light installations that decorate Moscow. Tverskaya - from Triumfalnaya Square to the Kremlin - is given over to pedestrians for five whole days. Local one-lane closures will begin tomorrow, December 29. And then the main street of the city, as well as Mokhovaya, Okhotny Ryad and almost all adjacent lanes will be completely blocked - this will happen on the night of Saturday, December thirtieth, and will only be opened on January 3rd. On the last day of the old year, all approaches to Red Square, including Varvarka, Ilyinka, and the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, will be closed. Cars will also be allowed there again only on the third.

Metro all night

Get to the center in New Year and on days of closures, of course, the easiest way is to take the metro. For the second time on December 31, the subway will operate all night, without interruption. As the head of the Moscow Metro, Viktor Kozlovsky, said, trains will run on the night of January 1 at intervals of 3.5 to 10 minutes. The Moscow Central Circle will operate according to the same schedule. That is, after celebrating the New Year and listening to the chimes in the center of the capital, you can easily return home.

By the way, Muscovites began receiving gifts from the metro a week before the New Year. On Circle line launched two themed trains.

Ground transport will also operate on New Year's Day - a total of 168 routes will operate until the morning.

But on Christmas, January 7, metro trains will extend their working hours until two in the morning, and 174 routes will operate ground transport.

Out of town for whom?

Electric trains are also being adjusted for the New Year. Their schedule changes for all holidays, starting as early as December 29. According to the press service of the Central Suburban passenger company, due to the fact that there are fewer passengers, some trains are canceled during the holidays. From December 30 to January 7 they will run according to the Saturday schedule, on January 8 - according to the Sunday schedule, on the ninth everything will return to normal.

Besides, in New Year's Eve on some routes the last night trains will depart from stations an hour later.

On the Leningrad direction, which is served by another carrier company - the Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Line - from January 1 to 8, all electric trains, both "Swallows" and regular ones, will run on a weekend schedule. All changes have already been loaded into the schedule applications - "Electrics" and "Yandex.Electrics", and can also be viewed on the Russian Railways website.

The fare will rise in price, but not by much

When going on a trip, do not forget that from January 2, travel prices in Moscow are changing - a trip on the Troika will rise in price by one ruble, instead of 35 rubles you will have to pay 36. Prices for season tickets will rise by several tens of rubles. But not significantly - the maximum increase in price is 3.8 percent.

But electric trains, as Maxim Dyakonov, executive director of the Center for Transport and Communications, promised, will most likely not rise in price next year. But in the first half of the year, the company is finally going to release an application through which it will be possible to buy one-time tickets for trips, which will save passengers from having to run to the ticket office every time - today 70 percent of tickets sold at ticket offices and machines are one-time tickets.

By the way

Also, on January 1st, the turnstiles will be removed from large buses with accordions. In return, a validator will appear at each door. The city is also promising to tighten controls. In total, according to Mosgortrans estimates, 60 buses and 15 tram routes. Removing the turnstiles will speed up the journey for each passenger by an average of 5 minutes.
