Wild date mint. Founder of "Wild Mint" - about how to make a festival

June 9–11 at Tula region will host "Wild Mint" - the largest independent music festival in Russia. The headliner was Zemfira, who will break her two-year silence with this performance. In addition to her, there will be Mujuice, Oligarkh and 25/17, as well as Bricks, Animal Jazz and Mgzavrebi, which are familiar to the format.

"Wild Mint" has existed for 11 years and during this time has grown from a small-town analogue of "Invasion" into a large-scale project with perhaps the best festival infrastructure in the country: hot water, electricity, excellent access roads and a children's entertainment area, and a nursery. The Village spoke with Andrey Klyukin, founder and general producer of Wild Mint, about independence and compromises with the authorities.

About independence

- You always emphasize that Wild Mint is an independent festival. What does this even mean?

What does it mean? It all started with the fact that there were three people who decided to make their own festival. We had one table, one computer, three chairs. We held the first "Wild Mint" in the format in which we could - for four hours in Troparevsky Park. Every year, earning some money, we invested it in the organization and set new goals. For example, that Nino Katamadze will perform next year. Here, she performed, and now let's make a few scenes, and in another year we will start working with foreign artists. Every year we set ourselves plans and implemented them. But at the same time, we never depended on anyone. There was no radio station or TV channel behind us, whose owners could tell us what kind of music we should sound and what not. There were no investors behind us who could dictate to us the financial scheme for the development of the festival. None of the partners can impose their musical tastes on us. Therefore, we are independent - there is only us and the audience, we decide what the next festival will be like, and the audience decides whether to go to it or not.

- The main idea was to work with independent teams?

Yes, that's what we've always been called - "wild music festival". The idea was to work with musicians who, just like us, no one is behind, we are not interested in working with teams created in the depths of production centers to monetize music. Of course, this is pure taste, but how else? How to invite musicians whose music you don't like to your festival? Making a festival with your own money and promoting music that doesn't resonate with you? Lie to yourself and lie to the audience, saying that it's cool? No, we can't do that. When there is no one above you but yourself, this is a very pleasant and responsible form of work. We make all the right and wrong decisions ourselves.

How to develop your taste in music

- Who works on the lineup and who makes the decisions when artists are chosen?

We have 24 people in the team, three people are involved in the musical component, but I reserve the last word. It turns out that somewhere around 70 percent is what I personally select, 30 percent is what the audience and the office offer.

- So you are confident in your own musical taste?

He is what he is. Another thing is that you need to constantly be aware of what is happening in music. I made such a vow for myself a long time ago: to listen to three new albums a day. That is, I constantly work as a musical filter. I listen to so much music throughout the year that getting 80 good bands is not a problem. And if we invite a group from Russia or the CIS to perform, then there are almost no refusals. I think this is due to the fact that “Wild Mint” has developed an image of the festival, which cannot be entered on the wave of a produced hype or through an acquaintance. This has a downside - in recent years, we have become more and more idiotic cases when musicians offer us money to perform at the festival. But you can get to the festival only for love. If we don't like this music, we don't like it. I have a clear understanding of the atmosphere that should be at the festival. We collect musical ikebana, where all the flowers are different, but when they are together, a unique palette is formed. This is very painstaking work.

- Where do you get these new three albums that you listen to every day?

In various publics on VKontakte: Other Music, Rubel, Drugs & Booze, Native Sound - or, when I'm too lazy, I just look at the iTunes showcase. But in order to make the final decision on the performance of the band at the festival, I ask you to send links to the concert video. I need to see how it sounds live. Sometimes it makes me happy, and sometimes it makes me angry when the group accepts such conditions, but shoots some videos and puts a studio recording under it. I instantly understand this and then just write: “There are no places in the lineup, good luck.” I just don’t want to offend anyone, because they are deceiving in order to present their work to the viewer.

Well, then which of the artists who will perform can you call iconic for yourself? Who determines your format?

The Wild Mint Festival is not commercial for us. It's about love. All 75 bands that are announced are my 75 favorite bands on this moment. But I will give a couple of tips to those who are going to the festival: from new bands, for example, you should never miss the performance of The Paz Band. Such groups appear once a decade. This is a band from Israel with soloist Gal de Paz. This band has everything I love about music, it's a modern take on 60s rock. She sings with the same emotional intensity as Janis Joplin and also Gal very beautiful girl. I saw her performance in Israel and realized that I could not help but invite her. If we talk about new products, I should probably highlight the Rostov group "Date". It's a rare case when we invite a group that uses minor rather than major in their work, but they are so subtle and romantic, I would compare them with the French band Air. Not a discovery, but every album they have is the strongest - this is the Refining group. This is a new wave of the St. Petersburg school. These are extremely collected, non-drinking, very literary and very musical guys. There are also bands that I'm in love with. This is The Hatters. This is a colossal drive to the brink of death. I sometimes wonder: will they survive at all? The group does not portray rock and roll, but lives it. I know them well personally - it is a pleasure to communicate with them. These are smart, educated, intelligent gouges who really live in rock. An amazing team for me is "Internal Combustion". The group is not new, echoes of the first wave of Leningrad art-rock, a very strange musical phenomenon, which is simply very interesting to look at. It is also necessary to say about the group Glosoli - it consists of two girls and sticks unreal rock.

About Zemfira

This year Zemfira will perform with you, which will break the two-year silence with this concert. Why did you choose her and how did you manage to organize her concert?

Zemfira is the number one person for the Russian independent scene. She made herself completely. A girl from Ufa who walked this path with nerves, burning herself and everything around. She has achieved everything. Two years ago, we decided that we were probably old enough and we should try to invite her. I wrote to the manager, there were negotiations, but it did not work out. Last year, we continued the conversation, but the director said that Zemfira did not really want to perform at festivals. The fact that this will finally happen this year, I learned in a strange way. The producer of another festival called me and asked how much money she performs with us. Of course, I didn’t name the amount, after which I immediately called her director, and she told me: “Yes, Andrey, we haven’t had time to call you yet, Zemfira decided to perform at Wild Mint this year.” You see, Zemfira has reached such a height that festivals do not choose her, but she chooses where she will play. I think all the festivals in our country want to get it. And the fact that she decided to break her two-year silence on the Wild Mint is worth a lot. She trusts us with the organization of her return. This means that the stage must be perfectly prepared, the light must be impeccable, all riders must be executed in detail. And I can say that every tenth letter in my correspondence concerns the realization of this concert. We already knew three weeks ago how each light bulb would hang.

- Can you tell us what will be on this show?

I don't have the details of the show, and I don't have a list of songs that will be performed. My deepest conviction is that the producer of the festival has no right to get involved in the creative process. We invited the artist to give a concert, the artist agreed. I have no right to say: “Hello, Zemfira, I would like you to play this and that, but it would be nice if you did this.” We are not in a restaurant to order repertoire. I only know the details about the number of lights, visas, hotel rooms, and so on.

It is clear that there are moments when we go out with the initiative to play certain songs. But these are special projects. For example, when I was a student, the album "Vyvoroten" by the group "Kalinov Most" was released. It was fantastic work - straight Russian blues. Or even so - Russian Pink Floyd. Two years ago, this record turned 20 years old, I myself called the lead singer of the group Dmitry Revyakin and offered to play the entire record from the first to the last note. He agreed, but this is a special case.

About the audience

What do you rely on, besides your field studies of Russian music? There are, for example, groups that have become in demand only thanks to the Internet.

Yes, for example, The Hatters is a group that collects any hall without a single poster.

- How do you work with this hype?

We start only from our feeling of the festival. A group can collect millions of likes, but simply does not fit the festival in terms of mood, level of play, content of texts, be secondary or vulgar, finally. Also, I don't like marginal music. It seems to me that you are leaving for an open field with friends, and then someone starts to load you, for example Husky. I listen to his music with pleasure, but I don’t understand how he would enter in the atmosphere of “Wild Mint”. Or, for example, I really like the first album "Vulgar Molly". If I was 17 and I rode a skateboard, it would simply not get out of my ears. But I still don't understand how our audience will accept the group, although, perhaps, I'm just driven.

- Who is your audience?

We are very clear in this respect. If we are talking about girls, the core of the female audience is 24–28 years old, and the guys are somewhere around 26–35. As I see these people: this is a young couple who are not ready for extreme sports, but want to go to a music festival, but only in such a way that they do not see drunken teenagers there who lie face down in a puddle.

How to build a festival with zero investment

- The festival is already 11 years old, probably screwed up more than once during this time?

Of course they lied! For example, when we moved from the Kaluga region to the Tula region, we looked at the field and made the wrong arrangement of objects. The field consists of two levels, and on the lower level in one corner there is a small difference in height, about 20 centimeters. It would seem that this does not matter at all. We pitched the tents on the lower level and realized our mistake when the field was covered by a cyclone and it rained with incredible intensity for three days. The next year we changed everything, however, since then we have not had rain. But we know that if he goes, the tents will be dry. We've made mistakes in the past. When you have three scenes working in parallel, it is very important who performs for whom. If you haven't analyzed this deeply, it may happen that the audience of one band playing on one stage is also the fan base of another band that plays on the second in parallel. Now we all understand this very well: when we posted the schedule for this year, we did not find a single dissatisfied person.

IN ADDITION TO MUSIC, YOU HAVE A PRETTY DEVELOPED INFRASTRUCTURE, SUCH, PLEASE, ONLY ALFA FUTURE CAN BROGUE, BUT EVERYTHING IS CLEAR THERE. HOW DID YOU SAVE YOUR INDEPENDENCE?

We initially wanted to make a festival where people go not to get a dose of extreme sports, but to really relax. And when we finally had some funds and partners, we were able to realize our dreams.

- How?

All brainstorms are built according to the same scheme. We get together and start fantasizing what to do if we ourselves were spectators, and, of course, we read the reviews. For example, everyone is faced with such simple things as the road to the festival. It's good to be comfortable. Ideally, if you could take the bus to the festival right next to the metro, and then get on and come back to the metro.

- And how did you implement it?

With the help of partners. We calculated how many buses are needed to pick up people from the metro, and how much it will cost. We are looking for a sponsor for this. We say: "Guys, we will now brand 20 buses that will take viewers to the festival, and your subscribers will be able to get into it for free." This is the easiest option, but there were also difficult ones. For example, water. Usually you come to the festival and realize that half a liter of drinking water costs 150 rubles there, but you would like, of course, not to spend money on water and not stand in lines for it. It would be nice to put fountains with free drinking water. We come to our partners, Barrier filters, and say that fountains are needed. They have the equipment itself, but where do they get water from? And we go to the regional administration, ask several water carriers for water, so that they constantly bring water, and Barrier filters it. The administration agrees to give water carriers, but the drivers have to be paid. And we run to the Ministry of Transport of the Tula region. In the end, everything works out, in terms of money, the scheme costs zero rubles, zero kopecks, but all the spectators are satisfied. Next year we are looking for another partner who organizes hot water so that we can make tea or dilute baby food. Therefore, the economy of the festival is rather strange. Marginality at any time is approximately the same: almost everything that we earn, we invest. But in 11 years of such work, we have become the largest independent festival.

- But do you invest in infrastructure yourself?

This year we invested in infrastructure in exactly the same way as last year and the year before. These are the essentials first. Fill the road with gravel, make water free. Or, for example, we introduced a dazzling idea that year, to which it is not clear why the organizers of other events did not push. There is such a problem: thousands of people come to the festival and put up thousands of tents, so it is really very difficult to find your own. Therefore, we came up with the idea of lining the tent camp onto the streets, giving names to the streets, putting signs. Relatively speaking, Larisa Reshetnikova street, house 12. We named the streets after the guys from the office. Larisa Reshetnikova Street is the street of the festival's executive director, Adrian Khmelnitsky street is the commercial director's street, and so on. So 24 streets are named, and there are 36 in total, and we add some guys who worked for us at the festival.

YOUR COLLEAGUES FROM ALFA FUTURE SAY THAT THEIR GLADE IS DESIGNED FOR 50 THOUSAND PEOPLE, AND NOT A PERSON MORE, AND EVEN IN THE PERSPECTIVE. HOW ARE YOU?

Last year, we had about 46,000 people in three days. This is our maximum - 20 thousand. We have produced exactly this number of bracelets, and we will not be able to sell any more, even if we really want to earn more money. These are special bracelets, an innovation of this year. There will be turnstiles at the entrance, like in the subway, this is necessary so that we know how many people are in which zone at one time or another.

About compromises

- Returning to the Ministry of Defense and the "invasion", are you ready to cooperate with the authorities?

Yes. If we are talking about politics, I understand that now there are two funnels that drag people into a life that is unnatural for them. On one side there are grandmothers who burn leaflets with the Telegram logo, there are Cossacks who beat people with whips for no clear reason. And there are others who say: "Everything is stolen, let's go to the rally", even if it is not authorized. All of them are drawn into the political funnel. And I think this is unnatural. What is human life? Family, friends, music, books, children - and this is what should be taken care of in the first place. Both in power and in opposition there are good people, and there are assholes here and there. I am convinced that it was not Putin who came up with the action with grandmothers, but some official. I am also convinced that behind every opposition member is not the money of the State Department. When we talk about working with the authorities, I can say this. I know areas where everything is decided according to some terrible corruption schemes and where you can be dragged into such a bottom where you want to break out as soon as possible. It happens that you communicate with an official who does not need anything, he just kicks you around the offices. And there are, on the contrary, officials who work very well. For example, at 08:55 today I received a call from the vice-governor of the Tula region, Yulia Vladimirovna Veprintseva. She called and was worried about the garbage collection from our festival, whether all the documents for this are ready, whether I keep the situation with the regional services under control and how she can help. How can I treat her badly?

I AM TALKING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE INDEPENDENT MUSIC, ESPECIALLY IN RUSSIA, HAVE ALWAYS CARRIED SOME POLITICAL STATEMENT: "I WILL ALWAYS BE AGAINST". AND NOW MUSICIANS PERFORM NEAR THE TANKS AND GET THE SUPPORT OF THE AUTHORITIES. AS A PERSON GROWING ON YURI SAPRYKIN'S RADIO SHOW ON "OUR RADIO", I HAVE A FEELING THAT I HAVE BEEN BETWEEN.

Musicians often change their minds. Even Yegor Letov at first drowned for communism, and then stopped. A musician is a creative person who is constantly in conflict with himself. Well, or take Konstantin Kinchev. At first he was for the pagans, now he is for Orthodoxy. A creative person is constantly on the lookout. At the time you are talking about, the problem of lack of freedom was the most acute, so this topic was the main one. The country lacked freedom for 70 years...

- Now the feeling of freedom is much more necessary for us.

Imagine that you and I are two tough oppositionists, "Invasion" betrayed us, we want to make our own festival, and by some unthinkable coincidence we are told: "Oh, you are so cool, do it." Who would we invite? I just don't know who. This means that this topic does not occupy musicians, as before. I don't know musicians who would be in the fiercest opposition precisely because they think so, and are not looking for some kind of hype. There are several artists who, it seems to me, harness themselves to any kipish, for example, Vasya Oblomov. But I see it as a game, not non-conformism, I hope I'm wrong. 90% of modern musicians have entered a parallel reality. You know, when you talk to them, they don't know the names of old musicians, they don't follow political stories, they live exactly the life a young man should live, namely girls, music, parties. "Vulgar Molly" - who are they drowning for?

- They are generally Ukrainians.

But they are not drowning for Poroshenko or against him.

- The fact that they sing in Russian is already a political statement.

No, they are just used to speaking and thinking in Russian. They do not seem to intersect with the world of aggression and nationalism, but, for example, the 5'nizza group, unfortunately, no longer travels to Russia. During these years I have serious problems with Ukrainian musicians: I simply cannot bring them. Group managers say: "We want, we know your festival, but we can't, we'll just be eaten here in Ukraine." Musical history was also drawn into this terrible funnel. Remember, there was a conflict with Georgia. We then decided to invite a number of Georgian artists - and, of course, Nino Katamadze, and everyone told us: “Andrey, do you have any idea what will happen?” They openly stated that we would regret it. And then the conflict ended, and we are brothers again forever. And I was amazed that when relations improved, one official had enough balls to call me and say: “Andrey, in fact, we were wrong.”

We have a number of festivals that have ceased to be done in Russia due to some political problems. This is Cubana, Outline. How can you insure yourself against this?

- "Kuban" we did two years, and I know what happened there. I don’t really want to go into details, but for me there were no surprises in this. What happened to Outline, I don't know for sure. But when you have been making festivals for many years, you know that there can be a million reasons for closing, and they are not always the same as they will later be announced in official releases.

Registration for the event is closed

Sorry, registration is closed. Perhaps too many people have already registered for the event, or the registration period has expired. Details can be obtained from the organizers of the event.

Bright and diverse music of the world, extravaganza of street theaters and fire shows, nightly film screenings under open sky and the charm of the venue make Wild Mint a festival to look forward to all year round and return to again and again.

The international project "N.O.H.A.", known throughout the world for the composition "To Cafe", the Latvians "Brainstorm", "Surganova and Orchestra", the Georgians "Mgzavrebi", the group "Therr Maitz", the finalist of the show "Voice" singer Tina and a few dozen more groups from all over the world!

"Wild Mint" is a festival of a new generation and it is characterized by versatility and multi-format, so here every year there is a place time not only for music.

  • Arrange a belly feast and eat Georgian "khinkali" from the capital's chef?
  • Chop on Japanese swords and try your hand at Indian yoga?
  • Spend the night watching iconic English short films under the stars?
  • Will you be inspired by a nightly concert, and draw a picture, standing at the easel, like a real "Van Gogh"?

That's what they come here for!

PROGRAM / Line-Up

An exceptional British musician, whose video has gained millions of views, the master of a magnificent red beard and the owner of a rare beauty of a voice whose timbre is worth ten thousand British pounds! Jokes aside, but the fact is clear: Mr. Alexander George Claire, or simply Alex Clare, as the girls at school called him, is coming to us. It will headline the festival on Sunday.

Young, only 28 years old, and already a world-class star! His first album "The Lateness Of the Hour" saw the light of the day, one might say, just the other day - on July 11, 2011, and now his hit "Too Close" sounds from every iron, it is known to any schoolboy and fashion brand manager perfume or the editor of a glossy furniture magazine. He is everywhere and everywhere, he is unimaginable, excellent, talented! Yes, he is ... the British musical king, if you will! Of course, "Internet Explorer 9" was also included, but these are trifles Gadgets and browsers are in the service of eternal musical values.

Everything is in his songs: thoroughbred, raucous soul, ubiquitous electronics, the lightest dubstep, some elusive, but very pleasant, British pop-rock traditions, plus, a whole ocean of musical shades that absolutely do not need to be identified. Apparently, this is just a huge individual talent that has arisen here and now, and which we have the good fortune to touch online by watching the video below, or offline - on "Wild Mint", live, on a huge scene, in great detail, almost at arm's length or the lens!

I must say that Alex Clare is one of the most incredible and "deafening" headliners that the festival has had in all seven years of its existence. What?! Alex Clare on "Wild Mint"?! Yes Yes!!! The same Alex Clare and "Wild Mint"! So we congratulate you and ourselves: on June 13-14-15 in Ethnomir we will all observe the phenomenon of a “musical” comet, and this, believe me, happens once in a thousand years. So let's go, dear music lovers. Let's go - let's go!!!

BrainStorm (lat. Prata Vetra) was formed, as often happens, on the basis of school friendship and similar musical interests. And since then they have been traveling the world, singing songs in three languages: sunny Latvian, beautiful English and lyrical Russian. They are fruitful for albums and hits, and you, of course, are familiar with Maybe, Colder, “Wind”, “Millions of Minutes”, Thunder Without Rain, “You are not alone”. As well as iconic duets with Bi-2 (“Slippery Streets”) and Kasta (“Steps”) and writer Evgeny Grishkovets (“At Dawn”).

Per Last year they triumphantly traveled all over Russia and Ukraine: more than 35 cities remained behind. The reason for the tour was the release of the new album "Seagulls on the Roofs", as well as the 10th anniversary, especially for which the first Russian-English collection of hits The Best of BrainStorm was released.

These smiling Latvian guys are loved all over the world, they are known and expected on the British Glastonbury, on the Hungarian Sziget, on the Czech Rock For People and in Holland on Eurosonic, in their native Latvia on Summer Sound and, of course, on Wild Mint this summer !

Now BrainStorm are busy working on a new album, which is scheduled for release in 2015. But, despite this, an active festival summer awaits the musicians, and the beginning of the creative year took place at the Olympic Games in Sochi!

"Surganova and the Orchestra" will perform at the seventh international world music festival "Wild Mint"! There is an opinion that her songs are among the brightest and sunniest on the Russian stage. This woman is one of those iron ladies who keep their finger on the pulse of life and command their fate, as well as the thoughts of their fans. After the well-known collapse, Svetlana quickly and energetically put together a new band, released a landmark record, which scattered in record numbers, and also went on a world tour. Energy and charisma overflowing!

Aesthetically verified, but understandable to everyone, the lyrics, sincere presentation, with a hooligan charm and incredible, bright energy brought Surganova massive success from the Sea of Japan to the Baltic. Lively Latina, French chanson, hurricane rock and electronica - you will find everything in her songs, and it is unlikely that you will give a single definition of her musical style. Yes, this is not necessary. Surganova plays outside the formats, and she is practically absent on television and radio, however, wherever she performs, full houses are waiting for her. They are waiting for her at the festival "Wild Mint"! So see you on June 13-14-15 on the green dance floor of the festival!

The international project "N.O.H.A" will perform this year at the "Wild Mint" festival. Delicious electronics, cunningly sounding breakbeat, clear hip-hop, cheerful ghosts of funk and jazz, as well as ... sensitive impression, every minute improvisation and perfect composition! Everything, as it should be, in the classical avant-garde If old Kandinsky had heard their bright, broken rhythms and checked out a couple of records, he would have drawn more than one expressive masterpiece, because the music of "N.O.H.A" is something more than skillfully mixed musical styles, this is noise of human art! Well. who was on the "Wild Mint" last year, he knows, and those who were not yet to discover this miracle!

For those who like to study materiel, we add that the N.O.H.A group has eclectic not only music, but also the composition, the participants come from cities such as Cologne, Prague, New York, Essen and Gijon, the musicians have four albums on their account, and the whole process saxophonist Philippe Noha! Sunny video "To Cafe" from some point settled in every coffee shop, but it's absolutely not important, like millions of views on YouTube! The only important thing is that "N.O.H.A" is the most "wild" music in the world, and this year they will be at our festival on June 13-14-15 in Ethnomir!

---

Anton Belyaev, a brilliant pianist and unique vocalist, the absolute star of the Voice project, will perform at the Wild Mint festival with his band Therr Maitz! Of course, now the whole country is watching this show, and the fact that bright, independent performers participate in it is wonderful. We believe that Anton Belyaev is one of the best participants in Golos, and therefore it is with great pleasure that we invite him to perform at our festival.

His biography is as charismatic as he is - it is full of dates, facts, trips, people and cities. He played in clubs from Khabarovsk to Moscow, he is known in Japan, where he performed with the most famous jazz musicians, he recorded songs in Brazil, he conquered the whole country with his voice from the blue screen. and now, at last, he has come to grips with Therr Maitz.

"Therr Maitz" is his brainchild and the main project of his life. We are sure that this group will have a bright future! Fortune has already turned her benevolent gaze in their direction, and they only have to work hard. The Wild Mint Festival is one of the catalysts for wild-growing, independent music and a performance at the world's largest music festival will add vitality, charisma and adoration to the public. See you at the festival!

SUNSAY will perform this year at the "Wild Mint" festival. The concert of this artist is a celebration of the soul for everyone who has wonderful vibrations of funk, reggae and soul in their player. But the matter does not end with these three "magic elephants" of world music - in the work of SUNSAY there are many shades that change from record to record and grow into each other, like sprouts of unprecedented southern flowers, alive and possibly thinking.

The sound of the album "Thanks", which was released last spring, defined def kef - a style that combines hip-hop, dub-step and ethnicity. You can easily find this record on the Internet, and it has become "new" in a more global sense. This is a fresh look and a different musical "palette" from musicians who are growing up and whose worldview is changing.

But literally a year has passed and already at the beginning of June, to the great joy of all enlightened music lovers, SUNSAY will present another album, which they recorded in Bali. Local musicians took part in the recording, and the record definitely turned out to be unusually bright and sunny. Immediately after the club presentation, SUNSAY will come to the "Wild Mint" and the "wild" sounds of the world will fill the ears and hearts of grateful listeners. No matter how much SUNSAY changes, one thing remains the same - the idea of the continuity of life hovers in all his songs, expressed in the universal language of music.

Friends! It is with great pleasure that we announce the performance of the Georgian band Mgzavrebi at the Wild Mint festival! At home, they are absolute stars: they collect stadiums and perform at the main concert venues of the country, they are ordered to soundtracks for films and invited to the most famous TV shows. But this is not the point Since recently, they have been passionately loved in Russia, and a number of sold-out concerts are proof of this, but this is also not the point

The essence is in beautiful, fresh songs in bright and melodic Georgian language. They are the perfect example of the "wild growing music" that the Wild Mint festival is made for. Here, the musical traditions of the fathers are honored and the harmonious Georgian polyphony is taken for the soul, here, along with the “classical” bass guitar, keys and guitar, ethnic panduri and didgeridoo sound, the flute cries and African djembe ring insinuatingly. Here are honest lyrics about love and life, a general transparent sound and some special sincerity inherent in all the songs of this sunny country.

There are never many Mgzavrebi, you want to listen and listen to them, sitting on a green hill in front of the stage, or in a small, ivy-covered Georgian courtyard. On June 13-14-15, we all will have a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in the charm of their songs and keep a bright mood in our souls, at least until the next festival.

Singer Tina, a magnificent, charismatic girl with an incredibly strong voice and rich timbre, already appeared on our "wild" stage several years ago, and now she is triumphantly returning again. Tina is an accomplished performer in all respects - in music since the age of 4, she plays the piano beautifully, improvises easily and sensitively, has 100% control over her voice and feels confident both on the small stage of a cozy club and in front of a multi-million audience. Listening to her is a pure pleasure for any music lover, and her live performances leave a vivid and deep impression.

Like any talented person, Tina is fruitful and has more than one musical group and festival to her credit. Of course, we all love one of her authentic projects “Zventa-Sventana” very much for the subtle combination of jazz, electronics and Russian ethnics, and someone probably remembers her from the Jazz in the Hermitage Garden festival, where she received the Grand Prix and the title "Young Hope of Jazz" or admired her performances at the "Jazz Parking Festival". In any case, Tina is a multifaceted and bright artist and is able to surprise again and again.

Now Tina is one of the unconditional favorites of the notorious show "Voice" and her talent is finally appreciated with bated breath from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. We are very pleased that this bright, original performer will perform at the Wild Mint festival and consider her one of the best Russian artists. See you at the festival on June 13-14-15!

It was to such graceful beauties that poets of the Silver Age dedicated their poems and unknown artists painted pictures from them at all times. Nina Karlsson will perform at Wild Mint for the first time, and we are glad that this fragile, marvelous freesia has been woven into the festival line-up.

In the past a model, in the present - a bright singer with a conservatory (for a moment) education. As soon as she appeared on the stage of St. Petersburg, Nina sounded so soulful and powerful that all the media started talking about her. In that year, the St. Petersburg magazine "Sobaka" called it "The main musical discovery." Her sincerity and amazing musicality touched the hearts of pen sharks and cold Petersburgers, who now rush to her concerts at the first call, and not only them.

Nina was deeply loved in both capitals, she went on a tour of the Baltic states and Germany, and even performed on about. Sakhalin.

Not so long ago, she presented the program "TO THE SUN", consisting of new light and sunny songs in Russian. The musicians performed with this program in Moscow, Kyiv, Minsk, Vilnius, Tallinn, Riga, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar and Volgograd. Appreciated this cute little thing and "Evening Urgant", where she sang the song "Seryozha".

Nina will perform at Wild Mint for the first time, and we strongly advise you not to miss her performance, as it will be a revelation for many!

The Atlantida Project rose to the surface just a few years ago. Their compositions, like oceanic fish unknown to science, float through musical landscapes created by multi-instrumentalist Sergey Zyazin and vocalist Alexandra Sokolova. No computers or DJ consoles. The basis of all compositions is powerful and pumping electronics, reaching in their rhythms to frank IDM, born of "live" analog synthesizers - robots, as the maestro affectionately calls them. The skillful interweaving of numerous live instruments into the musical canvas of the electronic sound makes it easy to take the point of the listener's consciousness far beyond his own self.

At Atlantida Project concerts, you can hear the didgeridoo or Tibetan bowl, drum or percussion set, while Sergey and Alexandra (vocals) constantly change instruments. Therefore, each performance of the Atlantida Project is also a performance. Often, dancers, video artists and guest performers appear in this action. The mysterious "Atlantida Project"! We look forward to your performance at the Wild Mint Festival June 13-14-15!

Sasha Almazova is a smart, spectacular blonde who confidently leads her musical group, plays the piano brilliantly, poses for eminent photographers for L'Officiel, Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar, writes fragile and femininely reverent songs, performs at stages of jazz clubs, participates in international festivals and ... writes books. Alexandra is 25, and the Non Cadenza group is 7 years old. Definitely something to be proud of.

It would be possible to list here all the merits and hang out the "orders" of the group, with which the press release abounds, but not in the orders and awards of happiness. You just come to the "Wild Mint" and stop that wonderful moment when Sasha Almazova, changing her converse for stilettos and putting on a small, "cocktail" dress, suddenly flutters like a marvelous bird onto the stage and gives such jazz mixed with soul that everything " black "uncles and aunts of past years will click their tongues approvingly from vinyl records.

Sasha, we are glad to welcome you and your group to the Wild Mint festival! Many will hear "Non Cadenza" for the first time, but we are sure that these songs will pleasantly surprise the "wild" parterre. Yes, they will surprise you, fall in love with you once and for all. See you at the festival!

The group "Naadya" exists less than a year, but already all the music media and bloggers interested in contemporary art have turned towards the promising maiden Nadezhda Gritskevich and her team in anticipation of something new and hitherto unheard of.

In the previous musical reincarnation, they were called Moremoney, and were considered one of the best English-speaking indie bands in Russia along with On-The-Go and Tesla Boy. Now Nadezhda Gritskevich has decided to give full-blooded life to her Russian-language songs. New project, designed to prove that the relevant and trendy music can sound in the native language, received the name "Naadya". The very first attempts to write "Save" and "Pirates" instantly spread across music blogs, deserving comparison with The XX, James Blake and other representatives of experimental pop music.

Following "Pirates" and "Save", an acoustic version of the song "Laudanum", filmed by the Fairlane Acoustics project, appeared on the network, and in February of this year, on Valentine's Day, the romantic single "Cold Cold Heart" was released. It is difficult to find a performer with such a bold musical thinking and hard work. In a fairly short time, she took part in a tribute concert to Alexander Vertinsky, recorded the charity single Carol of the Bells, was noted on the release of the Karelian label Full of Nothing, played a number of concerts at prestigious Moscow venues, performed at the Sodra Teatern in Stockholm as part of a special show case Russia:Music:Change. Such activity did not go unnoticed by the media, they sang and continue to sing the praises of Afisha, Rolling Stone, Interview, Time Out, Russian Reporter, and in January 2014, the largest music distributor iTunes called her the "rising star" of this season.

What. We wish good luck to the group "Naadya" and we will be glad to see you on the stage of the festival "Wild Mint"!

These masters of the ambiguous musical undertones of the gloomy side of world music have come a long way from noise experiments to a special kind of ethnicity, which was born together with the Oikoumene record, which was significant for them and the listener. Bringing from long-distance travel such exotic instruments as daf, doira and dumbek, udo, kalimba and reco-reco, kashishi, ashiko, as well as many different jambeys and congas, they moved away from the electronic, familiar to everyone, sound and went on a musical voyage into hitherto unexplored acoustic jungle. Everyone knows the excellent result and loud resonance: all music critics and bloggers, as well as some Western publications, spoke about the disc, since the disc was released on the German label Danse Macabre Records, and Theodor Bastard themselves are a notable musical figure not only in Russia, but also abroad.

They will appear on Wild Mint for the third time, and this will be a night performance. Everything that happens at night has a special, sacred meaning, and if we are talking about such music, conducive to meditation, then be sure that you will be deeply immersed, the voice of vocalist Yana Veva will lead the listener into the heart of vivid images and enchanting sounds.

By the way, the group will complete their European tour with a concert at Wild Mint. And shortly before that, on May 22 and 24, a presentation-reprint of one of the most ancient works by Theodor Bastard will take place in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The second birth will receive the album "Emptiness". In any case, after such reincarnations, rethinking and travels to Wild Mint, they will arrive in a particularly creative mood, and a fantastic set awaits all listeners.

The Moscow group "Tinavie", drifting on the waves of new jazz, downtempo and trip-hop, will perform for the first time on the "wild" stage. According to many reputable publications and critics, this indie pop band is one of the best of its kind, and the charming vocalist Tina is included in the list of "10 top young frontmen of Russian bands", according to Rolling Stone magazine.

Around Tina gathered the most sought-after Moscow musicians guitarist Dmitry Zilpert (Zorge), drummer Dmitry Frolov (Melnitsa), keyboardist Dmitry Losev (Safety Magic) and saxophonist Oleg Maryakhin (Inna Zhelannaya's group) and unique bassist Sergey "Grebstel" Kalachev. And indeed, a brilliant composition! For four years, Tinavie released three records, the last of which is called Comet. A truly wonderful and filigree-sounding work that came to our (I don't want to say) stage from somewhere in the depths of the musical cosmos, gracefully fluffing out a fantastically sounding tail. Beautiful songs performed by a beautiful and talented vocalist who composes songs herself, and besides, she plays the piano and violin brilliantly. It's nice that there is such a group, it's nice that they will perform at the "Wild Mint".

"Projekt Rakija" - isn't it a great name for a band that sacredly honors the Balkan traditions in music? As a small boy, Bosnian guitarist Igor Sekulovic, snoring in his cradle, often listened to the ancient Bosnian blues that his mother hummed. Joking aside, but what else can you compare the slow melancholy suffering about love with? Sevdalinka - this is how they call these gentle, sad songs in Bosnia, and believe me, this The best way speak in Bosnian about your feelings.

Meanwhile, Igor Sekulovic grew up, brilliantly graduated from the rock academy in Tilburg, acquired friends, settled in Amsterdam, got to know the taste of rakia and whiskey, but chose the first one, naming his band “Projekt Rakija”! Their first big performance was at the International Gipsy Festival in Tilburg and brought them a resounding success! Still, a colorful, peppery mixture of Balkan rhythms and Sephardic motifs, a courteous nod to Goran Bregovic and a slightly noticeable influence of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd (where without it), as well as virtuoso clarinets, trombones, tubas, saxophones, double bass and ... endless love to the musical heritage of his country, from which he left, but to which he returns in each of his songs. With this group, Sevdalinka has found a new life and a fresh sound!

Remarkably, "Projekt Rakija" is not only musicians. Gradually, the band acquired very pleasant people of various creative professions and views - animators, designers, photographers, artists and even a hairdresser. They follow the group as one big family, and with them - songs, dances, good food and soulful drinks! This is the custom in the Balkans, this is their Balkan way in rock. Therefore, the composition of the group is sometimes stretched twice, or even three times! But as we know good people there is never too much, especially at festivals of "wild" music!

Friends! We are pleased to present another participant of the Wild Mint festival - the most positive band Apofeoz Orkestra from sunny Latvia, a generator of Jamaican vibrations and a brand beloved in Riga! Seven musicians flirt with the listener in a frivolous fusion style. Constantly traveling to bars and clubs and performing at festivals, they came to their original sound: in their songs, the morning pulse of the city, performed in Caribbean rhythms, with a bit of reggae and hip-hop. These melodies sink into your head for the whole day, and you want to purr them while driving a car, in a fitness club and in the office.

Literally a year ago, to the delight of fans and just music lovers, they showed the world their first single "Clueless Day", in which Noize MC lit up. Further more! Their cheerful song "Vegetables" has become the unofficial anthem of all vegetarians, and the track "Because I have everything" contains a philosophical vector - the theme of happiness is revealed in it easily and simply.

Now Apofeoz Orkestra are recording their debut album and getting ready to perform at the Wild Mint. See you on June 13-14-15 in Ethnomir!

Hungary, comfortably located in the very center of Europe, is known not only for the cleanest lakes of Heviz and Balaton, the resorts of Szeged and Debrecen, luxurious palaces and locks or picturesque shores Danube... Gourmets, of course, will add fragrant goulash soup and fragrant Tokay wine to this list. It's like that! But after all, Hungary, with its 1000-year-old culture, is also a real musical power. This year, "Wild Mint" will play Hungarian music: Sisters Kovacs Nori and Judit are coming to us.

At home, and beyond its borders, they are the most famous performers of "wild" Hungarian songs, in which tradition and modernity coexist perfectly. Two sisters, like Belyanochka and Rosochka, are completely different and so similar in their love for music. Nori sings Hungarian lyrical ballads, and Judit plays the zither, flute, viola, and gardon perfectly. There are more “classic” rock instruments in the group, and at concerts everything is woven into a single, lively and very bright musical canvas.

All the songs that you will hear at their performance or find on the net are ancient Hungarian melodies that the girls “collected” on trips through foggy Transylvania. Yes, yes, the very one where charming draculas are found. Joke!

With the concert schedule and discography, our Hungarian princesses are doing great, and they regularly perform in the USA, then in London, then in their native Hungary and the surrounding area. They will open the summer festival season 2014 at the Wild Mint, and we are looking forward to their performance, and we advise you not to miss it!

The group's performance at the festival was organized with the assistance of the Hungarian Cultural Center.

On the eve of the "men's" holiday, we decided to announce a very beautiful and talented St. Petersburg performer Olya Bravina! There are not many beautiful women and this girl is no exception.

OLIABRAVINA is a young, constantly experimenting project. "Frontgirl" and its musicians create fresh, tender songs on a smooth English language, which give the listener a special interior space, comfortable and bright.

The light, ethereal voice of the vocalist is elegantly combined with electronics, acoustics, jazz and academic traditions. Downtempo, indie-pop, pop jazz, lounge - it is these "enveloping" styles that are mixed in Olya's songs, forcing you to listen not only to her "purring" voice, but also to yourself.

This project has already been noticed and appreciated not only in Russia. Olya is favored by well-known European musicians and producers - Mark Collin (Nouvelle Vague), Geoff Johns (multiple Grammy winner), the notorious singer Lenka, with whom Olya shared the stage at the St. Petersburg concert of the star.

Well. We are glad that such a beautiful “wild” lily has appeared in the line-up of the festival, and if you are not familiar with the work of “OLYABRAVIN”, we advise you to watch this video, and do not miss her performance at the “Wild Mint” itself.

We congratulate everyone on the coming of spring and announce a new member of the Wild Mint. Touching and spring-like fresh, Ukrainian group "Pur:Pur", in which the beautiful and talented girl Nata Smirina sings. At the "Wild Mint" they love and wait for them! A light, pleasant sound, a touching female voice, singing about the simplest and most understandable - about love and loneliness, about kisses (well, as you wanted), about not holding grudges and again about. love.

Despite the sophisticated image and gentle songs, the band's frontwoman Nata Smirina skated a total of 44,000 km of tours in 2013 alone, playing 51 concerts with her band! The musicians keep an active position not only in relation to live, they have recorded four diverse records, by the sound of which, one can observe how the group has changed and developed. Most recently they released the single "Bear", (consisting of the song "Bear" and "No hope"). And it should be noted that its coverage only on VKontakte amounted to 11 million people. The venerable "Esquire", "Timeout", "Rolling Stone" and "Afisha" did not deprive the group of attention.

Well. Laurels are laurels, and songs are songs! This year you will have a great opportunity to listen to them live at the Wild Mint festival. Such music is best absorbed when you are sitting on the green grass, under the gentle sun, hugging your friend in a wreath of fragrant herbs. Come! June 13-14-15, Ethnomir, the group "Pur:pur" for the first time on the "wild" stage!

The group "Iva Nova" will perform at the seventh international world music festival "Wild Mint"! These reckless representatives of the St. Petersburg ethno-avant-garde have repeatedly conquered the "wild" spectators!

More recently, they have released a disc "220 V", which fully justifies its name. This is an incredibly perky and energetic live, which the girls recorded at the festival in Amaliendorf, Austria this summer.

The composition has changed, the sound has also changed. On "Wild Mint" you will appreciate the new original sound of the group, which is dominated by keyboards and accordion. But I must say that bold experiments in which girls fervently mix ethnicity, electronics and rock and roll have not been canceled.

"Iva Nova" is an incredibly mobile band and annually tours Europe - Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Sweden, Finland, Iceland. Everywhere they are known, loved and expected as representatives of the vibrant Russian culture abroad. They are also expected at the "Wild Mint" festival on June 13, 14, 15! Let's go!

McDonogh Brass Band will perform at the Wild Mint Festival! I must say, we have never had such "wild" musicians! Rather, they are the most musical musicians! But we discovered them for ourselves in a rather non-standard way: on one of the spring weekends, our music lover friend flew by plane (with a silver wing, of course) to a town across the sea-ocean for the purpose of tourism and in general. He walked down the street and enjoyed the views here too. Chu! Hears sounds and screams, applause and laughter! What is it there and why is the crowd so happy?

An excellent brass band marches along the streets of the city, the musicians are all as one in white shirts, copper burns in the sun, trombones and saxophones, tubas and trumpets are fried from the heart in the best traditions of street concerts! And along with them, Mr. Kelvin Harrison marches and effortlessly leads the brass band! He is their "father" and a conductor, which has never happened, he created this school orchestra immediately after the famous hurricane Katrina, which demolished not only all the buildings in the city, but even the musical foundations in local schools.

Our music lover filmed this beauty on a mobile phone, and sent it to us, and we decided that such frisky guys have the right place at the festival of “wild” music! Let them give such jazz on June 13-14-15 that "black" fathers will not be ashamed!

---

These excellent Estonian guys started from the track "Raggamasta" on one of the radio stations, so powerfully and loudly that the whole sunny Estonia turned around, smiled and. even more sunny! After all, the songs of this group intertwined all shades of peaceful reggae, colorful African motifs and elastic rhythms of dub music

The musicians of the Bombillaz group do not sit still, but love to travel to the southern outskirts of the planet in search of fresh ideas, inspiration and in order to expand their musical horizons. And having traveled to the fullest, they write new songs and perform in numerous Estonian pubs, as well as at European festivals. So they will come to the "Wild Mint" this summer! On June 13-14-15 they will perform on one of the stages and you will be able to appreciate what hot Estonian reggae is!

---

The Shoo group is a great example of unity with the infinite beauty of music that has ever been born in the vastness of the Universe. Shoo songs radiate the whole spectrum of sound: a wide and powerful groove of drums, a light call of southern percussion, gentle trills of flutes and trumpet voices, cautious kalimba and viscous bandoneon. Shoo create music that melts the boundaries between countries and cultures, bringing together the traditions of different parts of the world.

The soul of the team is the original singer “Shoo”, who, from the age of five, drifted along the waves of jazz, rock, folk, funk, rnb, reggae, gospel, absorbing the very essence and, finally, went into free swimming, around the world and dizzying under the sail of "absolute soul", this is how the musicians of the group call their style. On June 13-14-15 they will land on their schooner to our "wild" shores and give a great concert! It remains only to wait! See you at Wild Mint!

Bahroma is a fresh and romantic band with an enticing name. In their extreme reincarnation, they exist not so long, but, despite this, they managed to write a considerable number of beautiful love songs. These guys know what they are doing and would be able to convince even the most capricious princess of the sincerity of their intentions.

"A new hope for Ukrainian romantic music" - the music critic Andrei Bukharin called the group. There is definitely hope The band "Bahroma" started online with the single "For a long time", which was produced by Milos Yelich, the keyboardist of the band "Okean Elzy", and after a while a very romantic video was shot for it. The single immediately got into a dense rotation of major Ukrainian and Russian radio stations, and the video for this composition won television airplay.

This was followed by concerts, festivals and joint performances with Good Charlotte, Brainstorm, Okean Elzy, Boombox, with Sergei Babkin and many other musicians who felt a kindred "romantic" vein in the young group "Bahroma". This year, on Valentine's Day, iTunes released their debut album "Inside" and the titles of the songs on the disc speak for themselves - "You and Me", "Her Name", "Movement towards Spring". The band "Bahroma" will perform at the "Wild Mint" for the first time, and everyone who loves acoustic, velvety sound will enjoy their concert very much. See you on June 13-14-15!
