ORY began to function in the 30s. Throughout World War II it was used by the fascist Luftwaffe as a base for German air forces. Liberated by the American army, it returned to French possession in 1946 and soon resumed operations.
Every couple of years, Orly Airport opened new terminals, flight control centers and established connections with the city, expanding quite quickly, which turned it into a large and significant point of communication with the outside world.
In the middle of the last century, the harbor was called “Airport of Paris” (Airport de Paris), although the name Orly was also well known to everyone, and it appeared due to its location. This is the name of a French commune in the canton of the Val-de-Marne department of the Ile-de-France region, 12.7 km from the capital.
Although the airfield is designed more for domestic routes, there is still a small percentage of flights to Africa, America and Asia. It occupies a huge area - more than 15 square meters. km, and is capable of serving aircraft of about 40 airlines.

1) Getting from Orly to Paris by train
Dreams do come true! The capital of France is here, already nearby, all that remains is to decide how to get from Orly to the center of Paris?
It's time to feel like you're in a fairy tale about three heroes, in which three roads diverge from a stone. This is almost our case: if you take the train, you’ll save money, if you take the bus, you won’t die of boredom, if you take a taxi, you’ll gain speed. The choice is actually not difficult, because it depends where you take the path.
One of the ways is the RER high-speed trains, but since they are not connected directly to the airport, you will have to get there by bus, and there are 2 options.
Bus Paris par le train runs from Paris-Orly to Pont-Des-Rungis station on the yellow line C of the RER. Its work starts at 4:34 and ends at 0:56, and 15-30 minutes pass between flights. They are sent from both ports: the SUD terminal corresponds to output C and stop 6; OUEST terminal – exit C and stop 7.
The journey will take 10 minutes and 1.80 euros for 1 ticket. If you cooperate with a company, it is more profitable to buy 10 tickets at once for 14.10 euros, and then for one person it will be 1.41 euros. But this is the cost at the box office, and if you take coupons from the driver, each one will cost 2 euros.
Arriving at the Pont-Des-Rungis station, change to the train, and unexplored spaces open up before you - you can go in any direction and see all the wonders of Paris.
Line C is directed from north to south, has many branches and a couple of internal contours. It goes through the Champ de Mars, leading to the Invalides (lines 8 and 13), the Orsay Museum and the Austerlitz train station (lines 5 and 10). If you follow the southern branches and circles, you will get to Versailles.
And if you change to line B, you will get to Saint Michel - Notre Dame. To get to the central part of Paris from the airport, the cost of a bus + train will be a little more than 6 euros and 35 minutes of time.
Shuttle bass OrlyVal which runs from 6:00 to 23:00, delivering passengers to line B of the same high-speed RER train to Antony station. Its point of departure is the Southern Port (entrance K, stop 6), or the Western (entrance A - entrance of the arrival area).
During particularly busy rush hours, the interval between shuttles is 4 minutes, in normal mode – 7 minutes. It takes him 8 minutes to travel from the SUD terminal to the RER and 6 minutes to cover the distance from OUEST. Such a short-term trip costs 9.30 euros.
From the Antony stop you can go in any direction, because the train is closely connected with the Paris metro, and begins its movement at 5:07 am until 00:11. If you are heading to the center of Paris, for example, at Chatelet-Les Halles or Gare du Nord stations, it will take half an hour and 2.75 euros for the fare.

2) Buses from Orly to the center of Paris
The most versatile mode of transport is buses from Orly. It is even surprising that, being located at such a small distance from the city, this communication network suddenly turned out to be so developed.
Doubt arises: Is it worth jumping onto the train if you can get to the capital without transfers on four wheels? Although, I must admit, there is much less freedom of movement in this case, but it’s up to you, as always, to decide.
Orlybus branded airbus picks up passengers in Orly from the South Terminal (Entrance G) and West Terminal (Entrance D) to the Denfert-Rochereau metro line. You can easily find it by following the signs on the territory of the airport.
Orlybus runs every 8-15 minutes, and the journey takes 25-35 minutes. It makes its first flight from the mentioned metro station at 5:35, and the last at 00:30 from ORY. This is one of the inexpensive buses and a one-way ticket costs 8 euros. You can buy it at special ticket offices or vending machines at bus stops.
Bus number 183 departs from the South Port at exit C and platform 4 to take passengers to the Porte de Choisy metro stop on line 7. It runs at intervals of 30-40 minutes, taking you a full 50 minutes to the final stop. Its opening hours: 6:00 – 00:20.
Bus number 285 goes from the airport (SUD terminal) to the last platform of the Villejuif-Louis Aragon metro on line 7. Between flights 10-20 minutes on weekdays and 30 on weekends. The journey takes 15 minutes, and tickets cost 1.60 euros.
VEA bus To get from the ship to the ball, you can get to Disneyland by taking the VEA bus from the SUD Gate at Gate G or the OUEST Gate at Gate I to Disney's Hotel Station.
In just 45 minutes you will find yourself surrounded by a fairy tale, a kingdom of fun and incessant laughter. The fare for adult passengers is 20 euros, for children (3-11 years old) – 16 euros, and 3-year-old children can travel for free.
Air France bus If you are making a transfer at the port of Roissy, an AirFrance bus (track 3), starting from the South and West, will take you to its terminals: 1, 2A-2C, 2E-2F and 2D-2B.
The trip lasts a little longer than an hour and costs 17 euros per adult in one direction. Round trip - 29 euros, children (3-11 years old) - 8.5 euros, and for groups of travelers and students - 14.5 euros.
AirFrance bus (line 1) from the Orly airfield to the center of Paris, namely the platforms: Montparnasse, Les Invalides and Etoile. The route starts from the SUD portal with exit L and from OUEST with exit D. There are 20 minutes between flights, and the journey takes 1 hour.
An adult one-way ticket costs 12.5 euros, a return ticket costs 21 euros. Children (3-11 years old) – 6.5 euros, for traveling groups and university students – 10.5 euros.
Bus number 91.10 route: Orly – TGV “Massy” station (TGV – high-speed electric train network). It leaves from the Southern pier with exit 1 and from the Western pier with exit H. The frequency of movement and travel time are 30 minutes each, and tickets cost 1.9 euros in one direction.
Noctilien bus no. 22 There are also night travel options, including the Noctilien bus. It runs from 00:42 to 6:02 in the morning with an interval of half an hour. It starts from the South Portal, taking you to Chatelet Square.
Bus number 31 from 1 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. it carries night owls between the South Terminal and Gare de Lyon. No. 131 has a similar flight, departing from stops at both portals of the air harbor. Its operating time is 00:57 – 03:57 with a frequency of 1 hour.
Bus route No. 144 runs between Port South and Corbeil-Essonne RER once an hour from 00:30 to 5:30 am. On its way are the Gare de l'Est and Gare de Lyon train stations, Place d'Italie and Bastille metro stations.

3) From Orly airport to Paris by tram number 7
Since 2013, Orly Airport has been connected to Paris by another mode of transport - tram number 7. You should not expect fast speed from it, but it is the cheapest of all options - 1.7 euros.
If you are not in a hurry, quietly and peacefully, jingling the rails and twitching the antenna antennae on the roof, you can get to the last metro station Villejuif-Louis Aragon on line 7 in 35 minutes, and from there it is very close to the Louvre. The tram runs at intervals of 6 minutes.

4) From Orly to the center of Paris by taxi

If you need to get from Paris-Orly to the left bank of the Seine, prepare 30 euros. A connection to the right bank will cost a little more – 35 euros. If there are no delays along the way, the journey will take about an hour, but it all depends on the remoteness of the place you are going to.
It should be noted that on weekends and holidays, as well as night trips to the suburbs and the center of the capital, the price of the service increases by 15%, but at night the traffic is freer, and you will arrive at your hotel much faster. Orly - taxi
You can get to the city center from Orly Airport by taxi. Travel time is from 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic jams, the cost of the trip is 25-50 euros + 1 euro for each baggage.

When traveling back to Orly Airport, do not confuse which of the two stops Orly Sud or Orly Ouest (South or West Terminal) get off at. Pay attention to your ticket, there should be the letter S or the letter O, respectively.
Orly Airport is the second largest and closest Parisian air terminal to the capital. It is located 14 km from Paris due south. For a long time, Orly was considered the main capital airport, but in 1974 it lost primacy to the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle air station.

Orly Airport is located on an area of 15.3 km² in the territory of two communes - Orly and Villeneuve-les-Rois. More than 25 million passengers use its services every year. The main specialization of this air terminal is domestic transportation.
The opening of Orly Airport dates back to 1932. During the war it was used by Luvtwaffe aircraft. In 1946, Orly resumed its activities as a civil air terminal. The south terminal opened in 1961 and the west terminal in 1971. In 1991, the RER metro line began operating, connecting both terminals with line B.
In 1996, serious restrictions were introduced into the airport's activities. They were designed to protect residents of the southern suburbs of Paris from the noise caused by flying planes. In particular, night flights (from 23.30 to 6.00) were prohibited and passenger traffic was significantly limited (no more than 30 million people per year).

Ask a question to an expertOrly Airport, the history of which goes back centuries, is partly located on the territory of the commune of the same name. The village of Orly was also located here, which was indicated on maps back in 1620. Most likely, the name of the air terminal comes from it.
But there is another version. Its supporters claim that the airport got its name from Hetman Mazepa’s ally Pylipa Orlik, who was the owner of this area. However, it is most likely that neither he nor his son, a famous French military man and diplomat, have anything to do with this.

Infrastructure
The Orly airport layout includes 3 runways and two large terminals - a 6-story south and a 2-story west. The terminals are connected by an automatic metro line. The journey takes only one minute.
There are more than 20 catering outlets on the territory: restaurants, cafes and bars. They close quite early: at 9 or 10 pm. This is due to the fact that the airport is closed at night. In addition, boutiques of world famous companies (for example, Rolex and Armany) and Duty Free are open in the south terminal.
The waiting rooms are quite comfortable. There are play and children's areas, mother and child rooms, beauty salons, toilet and smoking areas, and luggage packing areas. There is a medical center, massage rooms, pharmacy points, and a lost and found desk. There is a business center and conference room in the south terminal.
There are no traditional luggage storage facilities in Orly. Apparently, again, due to the operating mode. Wi-Fi is available everywhere. You can use it for free for the first 15 minutes, then you will have to pay extra from 2 to 4.5 euros, depending on the time of the session. There is an Internet cafe where you can print your ticket if necessary. For 1 hour of work there you will have to pay 5 euros.

How to get to Paris from Beauvais Airport?
There are 8 parking lots on the territory of the air terminal. 2 of them are located at the western terminal, 3 at the southern terminal, and 3 more at the main entrance. Half of the parking lots are covered. Parking for up to 10 minutes will be free, but then you will have to fork out more. 1 hour will cost 7 euros, half a day - 36 euros.
Transport from the airport
There should be no questions about how to get from Orly airport to Paris. There are many options here, because the capital is very close. The Louvre is 20 km from here, the Eiffel Tower is 21 km, and Montmartre is 30 km. Buses, RER trains, taxis and even trams go to Paris.
There are two ways to get to the capital by RER high-speed trains. Lines B (blue in the diagram) and C (yellow) lead there. But there is one inconvenience: before getting from Orly airport to the center of Paris, you will have to make at least one transfer.
The Orlyval automatic metro runs from both terminals to the RER Antony station on line B. This line goes to Notre Dame Cathedral and Gare du Nord. Thus, you can get from Orly airport to the center of Paris in 30-40 minutes. It will cost 12 euros for an adult and half that for a child.
You can get to the RER C line using the Navette bus. It goes to the station of this line, Pont de Rungis, stopping at both terminals. This way you can get to Boulevard Saint-Michel, Les Invalides, and Gare d'Austerlitz. Travel time is about 40 minutes.
Charles de Gaulle Airport
The Orlybas bus goes to Denfert Rochereau, where you can change to the RER Blue Line. The journey will take about half an hour. Buses run every 8-15 minutes from both terminals from 6 am to half past midnight. The fare is 7.70 euros.
You can travel from Orly airport to the center of Paris by Les Cars bus. The bus goes to the Eiffel Tower and other central places in the city. Opening hours: from 6.00 to 23.20. A one-way ticket costs 11.50 euros, a round trip ticket costs 18.50 euros. For children the cost of the trip is 5.50 euros.
Surprisingly, you can get from Orly to the capital by ordinary tram route N7. The standard ticket price is 1.90 euros, travel time is 30 minutes. The tram goes to Villejuif-Louis Aragon station, where you can change to the metro. This is the most economical, but not the most convenient way to get to Paris.
Taxi ranks are located at Gate M of the South Terminal and Gate I of the West Terminal. A taxi from the airport will cost about 40 euros. At night (from 7 pm to 7 am) and on weekends you will have to fork out another 15%. If necessary, you should pre-book a transfer online.
Transport to the airport
