Marriott International introduces a new generation of workspaces in hotels in Munich and Amsterdam
Marriott Hotels, a flagship brand of Marriott International, is reimagining traditional meeting spaces to meet the growing demand for more attractive and creative hotel workspaces, including meeting spaces and pre-function areas. The Marriott Hotels brand's new concept for work spaces features a holistic approach to event management that seamlessly combines service, technology and modern design. The Munich Marriott Hotel and Amsterdam Marriott Hotel will be the first hotels in Europe to offer guests such spaces in September 2013, the concept of which is based on a “grassroots initiative”.
Research conducted by Marriott and the publishers of WIRED magazine shows that the current generation of business people operates in a different mode. The emphasis has shifted from individual workspaces to a holistic ecosystem that gives choice and control over where and how to work, in or out of the office. New workspaces easily adapt to the needs of the event and its participants, rather than being forced to fit existing layout standards and furniture. Informal communication, work meetings, interactive classes - new technologies and design are organically intertwined and facilitate the tasks of preparing and holding events.
Workspaces will be equipped with wireless Internet, interactive whiteboards or walls, installation stations, control systems with touch screens, and they provide video conferencing capabilities. All technology will be tied to either the Internet or app applications, providing a platform for further technological improvement. The premises provide natural light and a comfortable color scheme, with dynamic color accents.
The brand's innovative solutions to lobby design informed the approach to the design of the foyer in front of the work areas. Hotel lobbies have become spaces that can be easily adapted for work, meetings and informal communication. The same idea dominates the new approach to the so-called “pre-function” areas in front of the halls - the necessary furniture will be placed in the foyer, providing the opportunity to work and communicate outside the work area.
The new workspaces in Munich and Amsterdam will be completed by mid-September.
