Independent excursions from Batumi: where to go and is it worth it? Batumi: what to see, where to go and what to do. What to visit in Batumi and the surrounding area.

Georgian Batumi, although similar to other resort cities, is at the same time very different from them. It can give you the pleasure of the gentle sea, cozy beach and warm sun. But at the same time, it is a dynamic, beautiful city that has managed to harmoniously combine both the cultural and historical riches of past times and the masterpieces of modern architecture.

After reading this text, you will learn about the main attractions of Batumi and its surroundings, and also see beautiful photos with detailed descriptions of the most memorable places.

City architecture

Church of St. Nicholas– an ancient church located in the center of Batumi on the street. Parnavaz Mepe, 20. This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Construction of the church began in 1865, and 6 years later the first services were held here.

During Soviet times, this temple, like many others, was closed. Nose 1946 years it was returned to the Georgian public, and the church again began to receive parishioners.

Now it is a functioning church and one of the favorite places among tourists.

Church of the Holy Christ the Savior, located on the street. Z. Gamsakhurdia is the main representative of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Batumi.

It began its existence in 1885-87 thanks to the architect R. Marfeld. Since then, the church has been used more than once for purposes alien to religion, but since 2000, after the reconstruction of the temple, it again became the abode of believers.

Now there are 2 musical groups, a Sunday school and a youth center.

If you find yourself in Batumi, be sure to also visit Argonauts Square(aka Europe Square).

This beautiful square is located in the city center. There are many ancient houses and architectural monuments around it.

On the square itself you will find a rich information stand about the Argonauts, a beautiful monument to Medea and a fountain.

The square is especially attractive in the evening, as there is bright and unusual neon lighting; the houses at this time of day resemble New Year's garlands.

The works of Russian realists of the twentieth century are of particular value.

Monuments of Batumi

Perhaps the most famous monument in Batumi is the metal sculpture "Love"(“Ali and Nino”). This marvel of modern architecture was created by a Georgian sculptor T. Kvestidze.

The sculpture is very unusual and beautiful. Two huge metal figures of a man and a woman change their location every ten minutes - moving towards each other until they meet and merge into a single whole.

Here are some more valuable monuments and sculptures of the city:

  • Monument to Memed Abashidze;
  • Fountain with Neptune;

Natural attractions of Batumi

Batumi is a very picturesque city with rich nature. One of its famous attractions is Botanical Garden.

The garden was planned and laid out in 1880 by A. Krasnov, but it first opened its doors to visitors only in 1912.

Today the famous Batumi Garden covers an area of 110 hectares. It is home to more than 5,000 plant species, including many rare and endangered species.

The idea of garden planning was borrowed from the legendary baby shower. Its tiers descend very beautifully and picturesquely from the mountain peaks to the sea coast.

At the very top you can see representatives of the Himalayan flora, and at the foot - plants of the Mediterranean zone. Between them are tiers dedicated to New Zealand, Australia, North America, Japan, Mexico and Transcaucasia.

If you find yourself in Batumi, be sure to visit Batumi beach and take a walk around City embankment.

The 5 km long beach, strewn with small pebbles, will delight you with beautiful scenery, cleanliness and emerald sea water. Here you can swim and sunbathe in comfort and coziness. And in the evenings, discos are often held here, where world-famous DJs work.

For lovers of active recreation during the day, there is plenty of entertainment on the beach and in the water, and for those who want to quietly admire the scenery and breathe in the sea air, it is better to come early in the morning.

The city's embankment runs 10 km along the seashore. This cozy, albeit very busy place has become a favorite for local residents and tourists of the city.

  • Chorokh River (Batumi);
  • Seaside Park (Batumi);
  • Dancing Fountain (Batumi);
  • Lake Ardagani (Batumi);

An article about what to do in Batumi in rain and good weather. Entertainment in the Adjarian capital, the most interesting places in the city and its most unusual features, which are unlikely to be written about in tourist guides. 11 best ways to make your holiday in Batumi enjoyable and memorable.

Just recently I wrote a long article about the main attractions of the beach capital of Georgia. There we talked about the most beautiful and unusual places in Batumi. – there is a lot of interesting things in it. Why am I writing all this now? Let me explain: this article will simply be a continuation of the previous one. But if in my last review we were talking about what is worth, first of all, look in Batumi. Now I will write about what is definitely worth do in the main city of Georgian Adjara. Where to go? What places to spend time? Where to take the most impressive photos? And how can you get lunch and dinner for two people for just 1 GEL? Have I intrigued you? Well then, let's go... So: what to do in Batumi... Let's go in order.

Go to the beach to swim in the sea and watch the sunset

Yes, yes, I understand, I’m like Captain Obvious with this point. But Batumi is, first of all, a sea. That's why I couldn't help but mention it. To tell the truth, the beaches in the capital of Adjara are not the best. The coastal strip can be a little muddy at times. And the Black Sea in the Batumi area is seriously inferior in purity, for example, to the Montenegrin Adriatic, where Tanya and I were in July of this year.

For a clean sea and cozy beaches, it is best to go to the Batumi suburbs - Gonio, Kabuleti, Ureki, etc. Well, in the city itself, the best beaches can be found in the area of Miracle Park and the city center. I repeat - in the suburbs the sea is better. But of the city beaches, I liked this one the most.

But the beaches of the central part of Batumi (opposite - Orbi Sea Towers) are perfect for those who like to watch the sunset. Tanya and I lived in this area of the city. And I assure you – this is where the brightest and most juicy sunsets are in Batumi. The only negative is that the sun sets quite quickly over the sea. Therefore, before heading to the beach, be sure to check the sunset time on the Internet.

How to get to the beaches: by buses No. 1 and No. 10. They just walk along the coastline from one beach to another.

Take a photo with a flying airplane in the background

Believe me, looking at huge colossuses flying right above your head is truly impressive and very cool. I spent probably three days chasing this shot. But, to be honest, I don’t regret it at all. Although, if I hadn’t been stupid, I could have simply looked up the flight schedule on the Internet (which is what I actually did in the end). During the hot months there are always a lot of planes with tourists flying to Batumi on vacation. But in October I already had to run pretty hard to find good shots. It was still worth it in my opinion though.

How to get there: on the same bus number 10. Personally, we drove to the Euphoria Hotel. But if you want, you can get off one stop further. Then you walk to the very last bench on the boardwalk. Turn on the camera, set the necessary settings and wait for the plane. And remember: you need to take photos quickly. Airplanes don’t listen very well if you tell them: “Freeze... don’t blink... add more passion in your eyes”... Well, or something like that... The models from them are quite mediocre.

Visit one of the local wine shops

Personally, I visited such places almost regularly. They have their own special magic. Its own unique atmosphere. Its own charm. And its own attractiveness. In fact, these are real temples of wine. There is simply an incredible amount of it here. Among the Batumi wine shops, I personally liked the store of the Kakheti winery “Hareba” (on Gamsakhurdia street, near Europe Square). And a small shop "Tasting Events" on Kostava street.

They are completely different. But each of them is good in its own way. I liked “Tasting Events” for its informal atmosphere and external design, which for some reason reminded me of ... (don't be surprised) ... my favorite Vilnius hostel. And I remember “Winery Khareba” for the indescribable atmosphere of its lower hall. Just imagine: ascetic tables in a small wine cellar, dim lighting, leisurely melodies of Western blues and hundreds of bottles of wine that look at you from literally everywhere. Again, I really liked the atmosphere of this place. It is difficult to convey it with words.

What else you need to know about Georgian wine stores?

  • Almost every one of them will offer you a free tasting.
  • Sometimes tastings turn into feasts.
  • Tipsy sommeliers are not uncommon in Georgia.
  • The cost of a bottle of wine starts from 4 GEL and goes up to infinity. Draft wine is cheaper than bottled wine of the same type, so “for myself” I bought it. The average cost of a bottle is 10-15 GEL. One euro - three lari (2019).
  • Among the relatively inexpensive wines, pay attention to the Kindzmarauli (8-15 GEL) and Alazani Valley (7-8 GEL) varieties.
  • The purchased wine can be drunk right on the spot. At their core, wine stores are a mixture of a store and a restaurant. It’s just that I have a hard time with snacks in such establishments. Personally, Tanya and I, after a month in Georgia, already came there with our chocolate.

Try Batumi beer (continuing the topic of alcohol)

Not everyone knows about its existence among Belarusian tourists. But the locals are simply delighted with it. I myself once saw with my own eyes a man who, in a restaurant, was scolding a saleswoman with all his might for bringing Tbilisi, not Batumi, beer into her establishment. It (according to extremely unconfirmed information) is supposedly made from some kind of super-mega pure water. Therefore, all other beer is not beer. But the Batumi one is simply the nectar of the gods. Let me emphasize: in this case, this is practically a quotation.

Personally, I didn't find anything special about it. Yes - beer, good. It looks like our Zhigulevskoye. There are no dark varieties at all. Only regular light lager is available. Costs 1.9 GEL per liter plus the cost of the bottle itself.

To be honest, there are a lot more products from the Batumi brewery, I liked the atmosphere around it. There are tables everywhere, cheap bars, men selling dried fish... In short, Back in USSR, as the Beatles sang. If aristocratic Georgian wine is not to your liking, but your heart asks for something originally proletarian, then the “beer street” of Batumi will definitely be to your liking. In the evenings it is noisy and cheerful: someone sings, someone chats, someone beats the Georgian drum. In short, you are guaranteed an atmosphere of a cheerful party.

How to find: Tbel-Abushridze, 24, near the Sea Gate monument.

Take a look at the Chacha Time bar

For some reason I’ve already dragged on with the topic of alcohol... So now it’s very quick. A tale about Georgian grape vodka - chacha. It is not mixed with anything at all and is traditionally drunk in the form of shots. Often this drink is prepared in villages using a semi-artisanal method (like our moonshine). Therefore, there are often cases when, having tried it, people remain, to put it mildly, dissatisfied. My Tanya, for example, couldn’t even stand the smell of it.

To remedy the situation, one interesting bar has appeared in Batumi called “Chacha Time”, where they offer to taste various chacha sets, listen to a lecture about each type of this drink, and also try all sorts of cocktails based on it. Believe me, after visiting this establishment, your opinion about chacha will change dramatically. The drinks here are excellent. As a nice bonus - various promotions, discounts and happy hours with chacha for one lari. If your holiday in Batumi suddenly gets ruined by rain (and it will), this bar is a great way to pass the time.

How to find: in the old town, address Giorgi Mazniashvili St, 5.

That's it - not a word more about alcohol... Now about food.)))

Try Georgian cuisine

It is very unusual and tasty here. There are many dishes. Restaurants too. Therefore, I will immediately highlight the most popular dishes that, in my opinion, are worth trying first.

Chizhik-Pyzhik.

Homemade dish with egg, tomatoes, herbs, pepper, adjika and other ingredients. Something between a soup and a main course. The taste is vaguely reminiscent of tomato soup. I liked it very much.

Adjarian khachapuri- the main symbol of Batumi cuisine. A boat-shaped bun with fried egg in the center. This is how you eat it: first mix the filling until smooth, and then tear off the dough and dip it in. Tasty, but sooooo filling. Even a small khachupuri can be difficult to eat.

Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and walnuts.

Tasty. Tanya ate constantly. Nuts give the salad an unusual flavor.

Chashushuli.

Juicy veal dish. Served in a pot. I ate it once at the Tabla restaurant. Liked. They write on the Internet that it must definitely be spicy. But it’s just that I didn’t notice any particular sharpness in him. Maybe this should be noted when ordering? Don't know.

Champignons on ketsi.

Mushrooms in a pot stuffed with cheese and something else. Yummy. I give you a thumbs up.

Chicken kebab (in some kind of sweet sauce).

Actually a miracle. Although it gets a little stuck in the teeth. Ate once at the Tower restaurant.

I decided not to write about the dishes that I didn’t like. And so this article about holidays in Batumi turns out to be huge.

Where to eat: among all the establishments in the city, I most often visited the Shemoikhede Genacvale restaurants (8 Noe Zhordania St), the Tabla cafe on Griboedova and an unnamed establishment next to our house (on General Abashidze, 5). There, next to the auto repair shop, there was a small home restaurant where a dear grandmother worked, who, in fact, prepared all sorts of Georgian delicacies for us. There are also many inexpensive and good cafes “for locals” in the brewery area.

Watch the performance of singing fountains

From bodily food to spiritual food. I really liked the singing fountains in Batumi. The show is beautiful, vibrant and (most importantly) free. I would also note the excellent selection of music and the rhythmic movements of the water. They only work in good weather. They are located next to the Palace of Justice, near the Alley of Heroes. You can get there by the same buses No. 1 and 10.

Take a look at the panorama of Batumi from above

In the capital of Adjara there are several interesting points from which a beautiful view of the adjacent neighborhoods opens.

Option number one ride the Ferris Wheel in Wonderland Park. This pleasure costs 3 lari (about 1 euro).

Option number two– go up to the observation tower of the Alphabet Tower. It costs more - as much as 8 GEL. However, inside the tower looks very picturesque - like a huge spaceship that hovered at a height right above the sea and the city.

Option number three– go to the nearest suburb and climb to the observation deck of Mount Sameba. There is a beautiful Church of the Holy Trinity there. Overall, this is a very nice and colorful place. I wrote about him recently. Read it.

Drive through the city's suburbs

Waterfall in Sarpi. Not far from the Turkish border.

In general, Adjara is considered to be not the most interesting region of Georgia in terms of historical and natural attractions. But if you wish, you can find a lot of interesting things here too. I already wrote about the Church of the Holy Trinity on Mount Sameba in a previous article. Therefore, now I will briefly go over other attractions in the region. Among the interesting things here is the Roman one, a beautiful and no less picturesque one, which I personally liked the most. Another striking attraction of Adjara is the Batumi Botanical Park with a green cape covered with some unreal amount of greenery. You can get to each of these places for 1-2 GEL from Batumi by public transport. Therefore, do not overpay in vain. And avoid private taxi drivers.

Cape Verde in the Batumi Botanical Garden.

A little later, I will write a large detailed report about each attraction we visited. We've covered almost everything here. The only thing I regret is that we were not able to look into the beach village of Ureki. This is a beautiful place with some special magnetic sand. Maybe some of you were there? Tell me, did you like it there?

Drive to Turkey

If you are a particularly adventurous traveler (like me), you can go even further and spend half a day in neighboring Turkey. As a bonus, get another stamp in your passport, go to duty free and drink Turkish tea in a small provincial town called Hopa. What attractions are there? Yes, none. It's worth going there for the Turkish flavor, oriental sweets and good shops. And when you buy any dish in Turkish cafes in Khopy and Batumi, you can pour free tea without restrictions. I bought myself a couple of cakes and then sat and sipped tea for two hours.

Go to the Batumi casino

If you don’t have a lot of money, this is simply a great opportunity to have a great evening, drink for free and eat delicious food in a pleasant environment. Well, in addition to everything, play the slot machines. I spotted this life hack in the program “Heads and Tails. Shopping”, and then tried it on myself twice. Everything is working. I swear by my BRSM membership card.

What is the essence of this trick? The thing is that the best Batumi casinos provide their clients with both a free buffet and free drinks. All that is required of you is just to be a client of the right casino. Well, then... a little ingenuity, a little arrogance, plus completely turned off excitement (!!!) - and you have in your hands the coveted ticket to nirvana.

As Tanya and I did in this case? They dressed nicely, put on a serious face and bought a special check at the casino cashier for playing the slot machines. As a rule, I bought a check for 20-30 lari. However, if you are embarrassed about something and don’t want to look stupid, you can invest absolutely any amount into this business (if you don’t lose your head, all this money can then be taken back). The best way to play is on slot machines. Here the minimum bets are the lowest (usually 10 tetri, which is Georgian kopecks). Of course, most of the time you will lose your money safely. But I repeat: if you don’t lose your head, you can lose very, very slowly. Personally, I usually lost at a rate of 10 GEL per hour. Moreover, any win returns you to your starting positions again, or at least brings you closer to them. Therefore, I never went into a severe minus (more than 15 lari) in three evenings.

There is essentially only one secret here: play ONLY slot machines and lose as slowly as possible (because I lost seven dollars at roulette in two and a half minutes). At the same time, you order beer, coffee, wine, nuts, take free sweets from the tables, drink tea, chat with the waitresses. Then you take a break and run to the buffet. There are soups, fruits, various salads and again a lot of different cakes. The main thing is to remember that you came here to eat and drink, and not to win money. A casino is a dangerous thing. But with proper skill, two people can lose one lari in an evening. I have already spoken about the free alcohol and salads that you get for this money.

A significant number of the attractions listed below do not require money, which is doubly pleasant for budget tourists.

Today we will talk about the most unusual places in the city of Batumi, where they are located, what is special about them and, most importantly, whether they are worth the allotted time.

Batumi: attractions

We are forced to divide the attractions of the resort into groups to make it more convenient to describe each of them. Our list does not include all the key places in the city, but only the most visited and subjectively important.

In front of the sea terminal building there is a Park of Wonders, and a little to the side of it there is a pier for yachts and boats.

The sea terminal of the famous resort can rightfully boast of its unusualness and originality, along with other buildings located nearby. The quaint building is crowned with a sharp spire stretching to the heavenly expanses, and very close by is a pretty park with ornate plants.

If you are interested in information about the possibility of getting to Batumi by sea (by ferry or ship), flight schedule and other useful materials about the sea terminal, we recommend opening our separate article: What is the port of Batumi like?

Batumi cable car

The decoration of the city of Batumi and its main pride is. It connects the resort's embankment with Mount Feria, which is by and large an interesting and exciting entertainment. The new and modern design consists of 9 cabins that continuously transport those wishing to the top.

Mount Feria offers magnificent views of Batumi and the surrounding area. Nearby on the site there are cafes, souvenir shops and a small church (unfortunately not working).

To “fly” over a city, you must first find a landing station. It is located on Gogebashvili Street, in an area known to everyone. The cost of skating for an adult is 15 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
15 lari = 4.97 euros;
15 lari = 5.7 dollars;
15 lari = 378.3 rubles;
15 lari = 159.6 hryvnia;
15 lari = 12.75 Belarusian rubles.
in two directions.

Attractions in the vicinity of Batumi

In addition to the fact that Batumi has many amazing things and attractions that you need to see first, there are no less magnificent surroundings around it that also wouldn’t hurt to see. Our small top 7 main wonders include:, and, the amazing Machakhela Gorge, and, the ancient monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta, as well as the Mtirala National Park. More details about each of them, except the last one, you can read in separate articles by clicking on the active link (highlighted in blue).

Traveling through mountainous Adjara Tourists will remember it for its rich program: unusual waterfalls (in the area and), ancient waterfalls, and several other striking attractions. The most convenient and recommended ways are either in a comfortable car with an interesting guide (we personally drove this way). An 8-hour voyage will cost 139 euros for two. If there are more people, the additional payment is 15 euros for each additional person. Another option to see the sights of mountainous Adjara is to go on a group excursion for 29 euros per person. The program is slightly different from an individual trip, but no less memorable.

Tour of Machakhela gorge will not only take you to quiet, secluded places, but will also reveal the unreal beauty of Adjara, hidden from prying eyes. Tourists can expect the capture of an ancient fortress, a walk along an “extreme” suspension bridge, raging waterfalls and the main highlight of the program - a feast with typical foods from the region (some of them can only be tried on this trip). Excursion to Machakhela - the best, which can be visited from the outskirts of Batumi. The cost of an individual trip is 159 euros for two. We recently found a good group excursion with a similar program, the price is 46 euros per person.

Okatse Canyon We recommend it primarily to those who are not afraid of heights. The views from it are simply stunning, but you will have to admire them from a narrow bridge suspended over a deep gorge. The highlight of the canyon is the platform from which you can see the waterfall. You won't be able to get close to Okatsa; the road near the gorge is badly broken. The simplest option is to get to the place where the ticket office is located and, after purchasing tickets, hire any car you like (there are cars of various “killed” cars driving around the place). The price of the trip will depend on the choice of vehicle. Approximately one way car will cost from 30 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
30 lari = 9.93 euros;
30 lari = 11.4 dollars;
30 lari = 756.6 rubles;
30 lari = 319.2 hryvnia;
30 lari = 25.5 Belarusian rubles.
Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate., at two - 50 lari GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
50 lari = 16.55 euros;
50 lari = 19 dollars;
50 lari = 1261 rubles;
50 lari = 532 hryvnia;
50 lari = 42.5 Belarusian rubles.
Exchange rates and prices may not be accurate.. We visited the canyon during an individual excursion, together with the Martvili canyons. But there is also a group option, the price includes lunch.

Monasteries of Gelati and Motsameta, located nearby, it is best to combine them into one excursion. The temples are quite ancient and interesting. The Motsameta Monastery, surrounded by a gorge, resembles a small piece of paradise, where it is very beautiful and quiet. On the territory of the Gelati Monastery are the remains of the great King David, revered by Georgians. It is not uncommon to see excavations here. You can get to the monasteries. We went on an individual excursion, also taking in the Prometheus Cave. You can use the Gotrip.ge service. When planning a tour, fill in the appropriate lines (directions).

Mtirala National Park—recommended for visiting, a relatively new attraction in the vicinity of Batumi. The park acquired the status of a nature reserve in 2007. Mtirala is considered one of the wettest places in Europe and this alone can be considered a worthy reason to visit it. The park is rich in flora and fauna. You can get there by taking a tour or ordering a car with a driver.

  • Cost of a holiday in Batumi: what and how much does it cost at the resort?

is a republic located in southwest Georgia. The coastal strip of Adjara is a little more than 54 km, of which about 2 km are rocks and hard-to-reach places. The remaining 52 km are at your disposal. The beaches are all pebbly, which is actually good. And the massage is good, and you come out of the water clean. And the best news is that they are all owned by the municipality and are free!

Beaches of Batumi. Photo and description

The city has an almost endless beach. It stretches along from the port to the airport. And this is no less - more than 10 km. The width ranges from 30 to 50 meters. In some places there are showers and changing rooms, and you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Almost along its entire length it adjoins a forest belt. So, if you wish, you can always escape into the shade. There are very popular parts, and there are more modest ones, but quiet and almost deserted, where you can take a break from the bustle of the city, for which tourists call them Wild. The division of the city beach into districts is symbolic, but it will still be easier for you to navigate.

The most popular and well-appointed part is, of course, Central or Old Boulevard (41.656022, 41.633536).

There is a “hub” of all kinds of bars, bungalows, clubs, shops, children's attractions and playgrounds. It is located to the right and left of the modern central entrance to the boulevard (K. Gamsakhurdia Street (formerly Lenin), leading here from. The central entrance is adjacent to. There is also an information center for tourists, where you can find out any information you are interested in about Batumi and the surrounding area). The width of the beach here is from 30 to 40 m. You can rent sunbeds for 3-5 GEL each.

Tsikhisdziri beach

Tsikhisdziri (41.754975, 41.740707) tiny village.

It is located 22 km from Batumi, and it takes 30-40 minutes to get to the place. The village is located on the Tsikhisdiri Pass, at an altitude of 70-80 meters above sea level. Therefore the beach is very secluded. In recent years, it has become a favorite among those who like to live outdoors with the sound of the surf and in a tent. At the height of the season, a small tent city appears here. Rocks covered with vines approach from the side. Tsikhisdziri is a very picturesque place. You need to go down from the pass. Visible from below, standing on a ledge Castello Mare Hotel and Wellness Resort . It was in this place that the house of Ichthyander stood. Yes Yes! The same one from the 1961 film “Amphibian Man”. A small problem arises here, too, as with Chakvi. You will have to get there by regular minibuses going from Batumi to Kobuleti, Poti, Ozurgeti, Kutaisi and Tbilisi. They all drive past Tsikhisdziri, but don’t stop by. Therefore, you will get off at the highway and from there move towards the beach. Ask drivers to stop the minibus at the most convenient road. There are several paths and an old road leading down, which you will have to go down. You will have to walk about 1.5-2 km. Minibuses depart from the bus station in Boni and from Tbilisi Square. The fare per person is 1.00-1.5 GEL, and a taxi costs approximately 25 liters.

The Alphabet Tower is a symbol of Batumi, designed to perpetuate the Georgian alphabet (33 letters). Dear symbol. It cost the city as much as 65 million lari ($34 million at the exchange rate at the time of construction).

Skybars in hotels

Skybar in the building on the right

So far I have only been on the terrace of the Hilton Hotel in Nephele Sky Bar, 41.64934, 41.6258

We ordered pizza on the advice of the waiter (bad idea). You can drink coffee or wine with a view of Batumi; it’s good in sunny weather.

More: Sky bar at the Sheraton hotel, 41.65092, 41.6304 And Clouds bar in Radisson, 41.65356, 41.63763

At the restaurant Tower(41.63974, 41.61087) is also an observation point - you need to go up to the top floor of the tower. The endless sea and views of the new Batumi.

These are the main observation platforms of Batumi. Do you want to love the city? Book accommodation in a new house or a good hotel with panoramic windows (floor 12+) and enjoy the view from your balcony. Such a thrill that words cannot describe it.

What to see in Batumi

It makes no difference in what order you examine architecture and nature.

You can start by walking along the streets of the old city and squares, or, on the contrary, walk along the boulevard along the sea, turning into parks.

Sights of Batumi:

Batumi Piazza

Coordinates: 41.64958, 41.64116

Piazza is the heart of Batumi. A round square with a couple of cafes around it. In summer, pleasant music is played, and sometimes concerts are held. Clean, neat, romantic.

You can live in a hotel or apartment right on this square. From Piazza you can go to Europe Square or in the other direction - to the Turkish quarter.

There is a cool individual tour of the old Batumi called Soul of Batumi. Walking around the city takes 3 hours. History buffs love it.

Europe Square and Medea statue

Europe Square

Coordinates: 41.65109, 41.63596

Pleasant well-kept square in the center of Batumi. Pedestrian streets with cafes and souvenir shops depart from the square. The Medea statue is a symbol of Georgia's wealth and prosperity.

There are fountains on the square in summer. Concerts are held, and in winter the largest Batumi Christmas tree stands here.

One of my favorite places in Batumi, especially in the evening. It reminds me of Europe in some way.

Fountain "Neptune"

Fountain Neptune

Coordinates: 41.65242, 41.63728

This fountain is installed on Theater Square near the Batumi Drama Theater named after Ilya Chavchavadze.

Port of Batumi

Coordinates: 41.65045, 41.64483

Cruise ships periodically call at the port of Batumi. If you haven't seen such ships up close, it will be interesting to take a look.

I tried to climb onto the deck of one of the liners. I wanted to evaluate my strength and understand whether I could live on this for a week if I decided to sail across the Atlantic.

The guard smiled and winked, but did not let me onto the ship. German pensioners are reliably protected from intrusion by unwanted guests.

There is a boat parking near the port. You can buy a boat trip. Prices from 50 lari($20) per hour. They take you to dolphins in the open sea.

Chacha fountain

The guy on the right has waited for Chachu, the others haven’t yet

Coordinates: 41.65281, 41.64269

A fountain of chacha (grape vodka) is installed near the Batumi sea terminal. Chacha once flowed from it (for a short time), now it doesn’t, but the fond memory remains.

Park of Wonders

Ferris wheel

The New Batumi Boulevard begins from the Park of Wonders. This is such a large open area on the embankment, where sooner or later everyone who comes to Batumi wanders.

There is a Ferris wheel, a statue of “Me, You and Batumi”, a sculpture of Ali and Nino, a lighthouse and chair stones. A choice of vehicles is available for rent: pedicabs, family bicycles, electric scooters.

Sculpture of Ali and Nino

Ali and Nino

Coordinates: 41.65563, 41.64341

Local Romeo and Juliet. A symbol of acceptance and understanding that religion and ethnic hatred should not be an obstacle to love. The film of the same name “Ali and Nino”, 2015, was shot about these people.

In the evenings the figures move ( in summer from 20.00). First towards each other, then in the opposite direction. At night they turn on the backlight, making it more interesting to watch.

Iveria beach club

Coordinates: 41.65613, 41.64193

Beach club near Wonderland Park. Cafe, bar, nice music, hammocks, beds for rent. Nice seating area overlooking the sea.

In the northeastern part of Batumi, behind the boulevard, a large landscaped park begins. Several fountains, a bamboo grove, a chessboard, arches overgrown with grapes.

A veterans' club has been built, where men play chess and there are table tennis tables.

Sheraton hotel pool

Coordinates: 41.65187, 41.62977

Across the street from the Sheraton Hotel, Seaside Park has a seasonal outdoor pool and recreation area for those who don't want to swim in the sea.

If you don't live at Sheraton, you can use the pool for money: ≈50 GEL per day, I don’t know the exact price.

New Batumi Boulevard

New Batumi Boulevard is a 7 km long pedestrian promenade. You can rent a vehicle or walk along the boulevard.

Along the road there are palm trees, benches, sculptures, playgrounds, cafes, beaches.

The boulevard is fun in the evening during the season. There is music on all sides, they sell ice cream and soap bubbles. Peruvian musicians play pipes and attractions operate. You can shoot at the shooting range and win a toy.

Singing Fountains

Coordinates: 41.64144, 41.61342

Singing fountains on Lake Ardagani turn on in summer 20.30 and until night. Classics are playing, the water is dancing.

New Batumi

New Batumi
"My" park

New Batumi - areas starting behind the San Remo cafe. In New Batumi there is Lake Ardagani, the Alley of Heroes, the House of Justice, a couple of parks, and the “Where” and “Liberte” sculptures.

My favorite place in New Batumi is the park on Lech and Maria Kaczynski Street. Roses, palm trees, soft grass. This is my paradise. Most often personal. While housing has not been completed around the park, there are few people here even in summer.

There is a children's playground: 41.62855, 41.59974

Planes to Batumi

Coordinates: 41.61828, 41.58686

The runway of Batumi Airport starts 100 meters from the sea.

You can watch the planes from any beach, but in this place they fly directly overhead. They buzz terribly and are so fast!

Night Batumi

In the evenings the city lights are turned on. The palm trees along the boulevard glow green, the buildings shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow. Even moving Ali and Nino change colors.

Dressed people walk along the boulevard. A celebration of life and relaxation!

Churches Batumi

There are several Georgian churches, a Russian church, an Armenian church, a synagogue, a mosque and one Catholic church

Dolphinarium Batumi

Coordinates: 41.64757, 41.62343

Address: Batumi, Rustaveli Avenue, 51

A sea lion cub was born in the Batumi Dolphinarium in the summer. Look how cute he is ♡

Buy tickets to the show the same day or a couple of days in advance. Swimming with dolphins register in advance. In the summer, a few weeks or a month.

WITH October to April It is possible to change the schedule. During the low season, the dolphinarium is open only on weekends.

Dolphins in Batumi are kind and cheerful. You can also see them in the sea - in spring and autumn they swim near the shore.

Zoo Corner Batumi

Next to the Batumi Dolphinarium there is a mini-zoo, divided into two sectors. Entrance to one sector is free.

Zebras, ponies, and small deer live. There used to be a kangaroo, but I haven't seen it for a long time. Maybe he moved somewhere.

Use of slides, mattresses and sun loungers is included in the price. There are changing rooms and closets for storing things.

The Batumi Water Park is located on the territory of the Batumi Hotel Euro Park, but you do not need to stay at the hotel to visit the water park.

Gorki is already aged. Negative reviews. For 40 GEL, it’s better to go to a dolphin show together than to a water park (IMHO).

What else to see in Batumi?

If you just wander aimlessly around old Batumi, you can find several churches, cozy streets with low houses and large balconies, and buildings of amazing shapes.
