South Goa Cavelossim beach. Cavelossim Beach in Goa: description and photos

The small resort village of Cavelossim is located 38 kilometers from Dabolim International Airport. Long strips of sandy beach, as well as the relaxed lifestyle of the village, combined with all the necessary infrastructure, will delight every traveler who comes here.

Cavelossim is famous for being ready to offer its guests the best hotels in, which belong to global chains: Radisson, Holiday Inn, Leela Kempinski. You can book a hotel on the well-known Booking - by, you can compare prices from different sites.

What I like most about this village is its location. It is located a little further from other villages and has its own indescribable atmosphere.

How to get there

By plane

Cavelossim does not have its own airport; travelers travel through Dabolim Airport, located in the city of Vasco da Gama. Some Russian airlines (Roayl Flight, Aeroflot, VIM-Avia), Ukrainian (Ukraine International Airlines, Kharkov Airlines) and some European and Asian airlines (Air Arabia, Condor, Monarch Airlines) fly to Dabolim , Thomas Cook, Qatar Airways). You can view prices for air tickets and transfer options at.

You can take a taxi at the airport. Right at the exit from the building there is a Prepaid taxi counter, where you can order a car for a fixed price. You will be offered a taxi with or without air conditioning. The cost of the trip will be 650-800 rupees, the journey will take about an hour.

You can theoretically get there by bus from the airport. To do this, you need to take a bus from Vasco (where Dabolim airport is located) (the fare is 30 rupees, tickets are purchased at the ticket offices located right next to the buses). The bus station in Vasco da Gama is called Kadamba bus station (marked in red on the map).

Just as with a train or bus, your route by car will most likely run through. Focus on this locality, and then you won’t get lost.

When is the season? When is the best time to go

The season in Cavelossim is no different from the season in general. The peak of tourist activity occurs in mid-autumn, when the first charters are launched from European countries, including Russia and Ukraine, and ends at the end of April. In summer there are very few tourists in Cavelossim, but 5-star hotels offer tempting prices for holidays. For example, a room at the Leela Hotel for the winter costs $300, and in the summer months the price drops to $130.

Cavelossim in summer

If it’s worth coming to Cavelossim in the summer, it’s only to stay in a luxury hotel with amazing service for quite little money.

The weather in summer leaves much to be desired. You, of course, will find yourself on sunny days, because it doesn’t rain 24 hours a day, but you won’t really enjoy the sea. Therefore, you will have to be content with the hotel pool. Also, in the summer, all the shacks on the beach are closed, which somewhat limits your choice of places to eat.

Cavelossim in autumn

In autumn, life in Cavelossim slowly comes back to life. Red flags on the beach give way to yellow ones (this is a signal that you can swim), closer to October the shekis fill the expanses of the gorgeous beach, souvenir shops and shops open on the main street.

The weather will stabilize at around 30-33 degrees during the day and around 23-26 at night. Light showers are still possible.

Cavelossim in the spring

In the spring, the winter fun continues, but at the end of March it gradually fades away and ends completely at the beginning of May, when the last charters take European tourists out of here. The weather in March-April is favorable for a holiday in Cavelossim, but in May it is no longer favorable. Pleasant warm days give way to hot and stuffy ones, and in addition it starts to rain.

Cavelossim in winter

In winter, everything is open in Cavelossim. There is no rain at all, and the weather pleases travelers every day. All conditions have been created for a memorable holiday. True, prices for all services, as well as for souvenirs and food in cafes, rise slightly.

Vacation prices

As I already said, luxury 5-star hotels are concentrated in Cavelossim, the service in which meets world standards. The price per night at a Holiday Inn is around $140. At the Leela Goa hotel - about $300. The Radisson Hotel also offers its guests rooms from $140 per night. The good Dona Sylvia hotel will delight its guests with wonderful rooms, delicious breakfasts and well-groomed grounds for only $110 per night.

In addition to expensive hotels, there are plenty of budget and middle-class hotels in Cavelossim. For example, you can easily find a guest house with rooms with European renovation and close to the sea for only 1,500 rupees per day for a double room.

You can see the price level in local hotels for your dates.

Hotels and guest houses, where rooms cost $20-$50 per night, are also plentiful here.

There are no more budget accommodation options like bungalows in Cavelossim.

In the Travelask section you can find ready-made tours - with air, hotel, insurance and transfer.

Prices in cafes in Cavelossim differ slightly from prices in other villages, even though the hotels here are the most expensive. This is very convenient because it allows travelers with different budgets to feel comfortable in this resort village.

Main attractions

Cavelossim is a typical resort village, where there is everything you need for a tourist who prefers a beach holiday. To see sights, ancient buildings or monuments, you will have to visit other cities and places.
During the day in Cavelossim you will most likely be swimming and sunbathing, and in the evenings strolling along the shopping streets, watching a fire show in Shek on the beach or admiring a performance staged at your hotel.

In general, the village is relatively small, at least the tourist part of it, you can easily walk around it in an hour. The task is made easier by the fact that there is only one street leading through the entire village.

It is on this street, in the area of the Radisson and Dona Sylvia hotels, that you can find shopping arcades, souvenir shops, Ayurvedic shops and regular grocery stores. Also on this street there are a couple of good jewelry factories where Russian-speaking consultants work. And a large store entirely dedicated to tea. Here you can buy real Indian tea, although the prices in this store are a little high.

On the northern outskirts of Cavelossim there is one interesting church, built by the Portuguese many years ago.

On holidays and some weekends, fairs, small performances and other interesting events take place on its territory.

Beaches. Which ones are better

On the map of Cavelossim there are several beaches: Cavelossim itself, as well as Mobor and Betul (marked on the map in order, Cavelossim on top). But in fact, all of them can be considered one beach. Most sheks are located in Mobor, and life outside the sea and the beach is developed in Cavelossim Beach.

Cavelossim and Betul are quiet and peaceful. The last two beaches are ideal for those who like privacy, escaping from the hustle and bustle.

However, the local distances are so small that you can easily get from Mobor to Cavelossim in 10-15 minutes at a leisurely stroll.

What to see in the area

In Cavelossim, as I already said, you can see everything in an hour, so I recommend that you enjoy a beach holiday here, and choose more historically significant places for educational excursions and trips.

Not far from Cavelossim is the Cabo de Rama fort. Compared to the other forts located in, there is nothing special about it, but the views from there are breathtaking. You can get there by taxi or rented bike.

Also about 30 minutes' drive from Cavelossim is the famous beach where world-famous quiet parties are held. The easiest way is to take a taxi for the whole day and go (a taxi will cost about 2000 rupees for the day) or a scooter.

And on the way back, you can stop at Kole Beach or stop by Agonda Beach, where the turquoise color of the sea and snow-white sand will definitely delight you.

Food. What to try

The cuisine is slightly different from the rest of India, and this is not surprising, since each state has not only its own language, history and culture, but also cuisine. Therefore, we recommend choosing a couple of sheks and trying real Goan dishes in them, after asking the waiter to make you “no spicy”, that is, not spicy.

The prices are quite affordable, for example, dinner for two with drinks will cost about $15.

In addition to local cuisine, some establishments serve good European dishes, such as Italian. Moreover, you can have a tasty and satisfying meal not only in sheks on the beach, but also in restaurants located opposite the Radisson and Dona Sylvia hotels. Europeans love to spend time in these restaurants, especially the British, who, in my opinion, know a lot about delicious food.

In general, here you will taste really excellent dishes. True, for such a dinner you will have to shell out about 100-150 dollars for two.

Also, don’t forget about the usual local establishments, which may not look very attractive, but it is in such places that you can try real home-made Indian food. It's safe to eat in these food stalls, so don't be fooled by their appearance.

And the most pleasant moment will be paying for your dinner; usually the average bill is 150-200 rupees, which is only 2.5-3.5 dollars.

Holidays

Catholic holidays are especially popular in Cavelossim, but Hindu holidays are not ignored either. Thus, a huge number of holidays are celebrated, with noise and pathos.

Cavelossim is not very large, so if there are festivities here, it is only in hotels. And occasionally local residents organize processions with songs and makeshift platforms along the streets of the village.

Safety. What to watch out for

In hotels, in principle, everything is safe, since Goans value work, especially if this work is in a 5-star hotel. Thefts also rarely occur on beaches, but it is better not to leave things unattended.

I recommend that you make friends with the waiters or bartenders who work in the shek near the place where you constantly swim, and leave things under their supervision. Or just leave everything valuable in the hotel room.

Things to do

How to get around the city

It’s best to just walk, and in 30-60 minutes you’ll get around the whole city.

If you need to go to another village or to the other end of Cavelossim, then it’s easier to take a rickshaw. The cost for 1 kilometer is 10 rupees, but no one here follows this rate, so be guided by 30-70 rupees per kilometer.

Transport rental

Each hotel may offer you to rent a car or bike. To do this, you will need an international license, and the bike requires a category “A” license. The cost of renting a car is from 500 rupees per day for something simple (like a local Oka from the Indian manufacturer Tata).

Prices for bikes start from 150 rupees per day for a regular scooter not in the best condition. Normal equipment (for example, a relatively new Honda Dio) will be given to you for 200 rupees.

Renting a motorcycle will cost 200-350 rupees per day, and copies such as the Roayl Enfield will cost you 400-700 rupees per day.

A huge request: if you feel insecure behind the wheel, then you should not rent a vehicle. There is unusual traffic here for our compatriots and very narrow winding roads.

Most accidents occur precisely due to the fault of tourists who do not follow traffic rules and cannot properly navigate the road, creating dangerous situations for everyone.

Cavelossim – holidays with children

Cavelossim has simply ideal conditions for a holiday with children, especially if you choose one of the “five” hotels as a hotel. These hotels have absolutely everything so that both you and your child don’t get bored. Also an obvious advantage will be the cuisine, which in such hotels is Europeanized and adapted for Russian tourists.

The entrance to the sea here is gentle, without sharp changes. If you are vacationing with a very small child, then the hotel will find a suitable swimming pool for your child. So take your children with you and don’t worry about your holiday in Cavelossim.

Cavelossim Beach, located between the Arabian Sea and the Sal River, looks very beautiful and has a wonderful atmosphere. The contrasting colors of the black stones along with the light sand add their splendor to this beach. This is an ideal place in Goa for a relaxing beach holiday and a game of golf.
Cavelossim is a coastal village in the south of Goa with several luxury hotels and good restaurants on the seashore. It has a long coastline with light sand and is located very close to the important town of Margao. Cavelossim Beach is ideal for sunbathing or active recreation. Situated at a distance of about 12 km from Benaulim, the beach is not only extremely popular among foreign tourists but is also considered one of the most mesmerizing beaches in India. It is simply an ideal destination for couples and honeymooners, adventure lovers and beach lovers.

Weather in Cavelossim

The best time to visit this beach is during the "pleasant" winter, which lasts from December to February and offers temperatures between 28-30 degrees Celsius during the day and 20-22 degrees Celsius at night. Summer, which begins in March and ends in May, is usually hot and humid, with an average daily temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. The rainy season in this area lasts from June to September. During this time, there is heavy rainfall, due to which there are almost no foreign tourists in Goa at this time of the year.

Things to do

In truth, Cavelossim may not be considered one of the most fun areas in Goa, but there is still plenty of entertainment to suit all tastes, including golf, which other Goan resorts cannot offer. Below are some of the things to do in this resort area of South Goa.

Nature observation

Cavelossim offers beautiful views of the Sal River, rice fields and surrounding nature. This beach is probably the best area of Goa to enjoy the serenity of nature. Here you can just relax and look around, constantly noticing something new, unique, and interesting.

Water activities

This resort area offers a variety of water sports. Alternatively, you can go fishing, boat cruise or dolphin sighting. Moreover, the cost of all these entertainments is low here, as in all of Goa.

Bike rides

One of the most exciting activities that everyone should experience is riding a bike. There are several bike rental points in Cavelossim. We rented a moped from Cycle Goa at Mobor Beach Resort. You can bike to places like Cabo de Rama Fort, Mobor Village and Bhutnath Temple. Of course, you can also visit other beaches and quaint villages nearby.

Massage

There are many hotels and health centers in Cavelossim that offer Ayurvedic massages. It is an ancient remedy that eliminates all types of stress and pain in the body. The massage gives complete relaxation and rejuvenates the body. In general, the cost of a massage here is slightly higher than in the resort areas of North Goa.

The museum is located in the Bogmalo district.
Mabor is a beautiful beach that is famous for its shops offering Indian handicrafts, trinkets and other goods at reasonable prices.

Excursions from Cavelossim

Although mainly lovers of lazy beach holidays come to Cavelossim, even they rarely refuse the opportunity to go on some kind of excursion. Still, a monotonous holiday on the beach can quickly get boring, even if it is such a beautiful beach as Cavelossim.
Where to go on an excursion from Cavelossim? This Goa resort offers excursions to different parts of the state and to other regions of India. But first, we would advise you to visit nearby cities and attractions that you can reach on your own.
The town of Margao, located just a few kilometers from Cavelossim, is great for street photography. There's a lot of wonderful Portuguese heritage here, and if you have a good eye, you'll find some wonderful old signs and bits of architecture. You can get to this city by bus or taxi.
You can also take a bus to Goa's capital, Panaji. There are many interesting places here, including Old Goa.

Below we will present you the prices for the most popular excursions from Cavelossim. The average cost per adult is shown, so in theory you could find these excursions at lower prices.

Prices for excursions from Cavelossim:
Sightseeing tour of Goa - $35

Shakes in Cavelossim and prices for food in them

The Cavelossim resort area has a pretty good selection of restaurants, cafes and beach bars to suit every taste and budget. There are truly luxurious restaurants here in the expensive Radisson Dish and Holiday Inn hotels.
Directly on the coast there are numerous shakis where you can order delicious and inexpensive dishes and drinks, relax on a sun lounger during the day, watch the sunset and have fun in the evening.

If you choose the best shakes in Cavelossim, you can highlight the following establishments:
1. Pearl's
2. Vernos
3. Sams
4. Betty's
5. Mikes
6. Fat Willy's
7. The Seaways
8. Silver Waves
9. Dom's
10.Islandish
11. Q Ba

All of these shakes are located right on Cavelossim Beach and offer relatively low prices for food and drinks. Many tourists literally “stick” to these necks and spend almost the entire day near them.
Now let's see what prices are offered for food in Cavelossim shakes in the 2017-2018 season. We will not talk about everything in general terms, as some authors do, but will simply give you a few photographs of the menu of some shakes on Cavelossim. We hope this will be very useful for you, as it will allow you to more or less accurately calculate your food budget. As an example, we selected several pages from the menu of Pearl's and Fat Willy's shakes. The cost of food and drinks in other similar establishments is about the same.

Shops and markets in Cavelossim

Cavelossim is not a shopaholic's paradise, but it still offers good shopping opportunities. The shops here are mostly small and not very numerous, but you can buy a variety of Indian crafts and souvenirs at Cavelossim Beach. To buy souvenirs, we also recommend visiting the nearby Mobor Beach, where there are several shops selling typical Indian goods.
Cavelossim has a small local market that sells mainly items such as fish, fruits and vegetables. It is not a big market like Margao. To be honest, I'm not sure if this market is open every day, but we spent two days at the beach and this market was always open.
If you want to visit some large traditional market with a variety of goods, then you better go to the city of Margao.

Nightlife on Cavelossim Beach

If you're looking for vibrant nightlife, Cavelossim might not be your ideal destination. But the fact is that the nightlife here is quite vibrant and there is plenty to do after sunset. This beautiful beach offers travelers a lounge, discotheque, casino, popular restaurants and nightclubs such as Aqua Swings, Liquid Lounge and Holiday Inn where you can party until late into the night.
There are also beach shacks where you can have a good time in the evening. Particularly worth paying attention to are such shakes as Leisure Place, Ocean View, Whispers of the Orient, Fat Willy's and Panache. All these places offer delicious Goan cuisine, drinks and seafood.
But still, if nightlife is the main purpose of your trip to Goa, then we recommend choosing one of the beaches in the northern part of the state, for example, Calangute, Baga or Anjuna.

Hotels on Cavelossim Beach

Situated on a narrow spit between the river and the sea, Cavelossim hotels offer an exciting atmosphere and the opportunity to stay close to a magnificent beach. You can easily find accommodation located directly next to the beach. One of the advantages of Cavelossim is that there are hotels for every taste, including luxury beach resorts.

And if you want to get even closer to nature, you can rent a boat and go to sea.

Maps of Cavelossim

Restaurants

It is believed that Cavelossim is a fishermen's beach, where there is always an abundance of the freshest seafood, which you can enjoy in numerous shacks (beach restaurants) and shops located along the coastline (almost all sellers speak Russian).

Entertainment and attractions in Cavelossim

Boat trips on the Sal River, watching exotic birds and dolphins, or fishing will add variety to your beach holiday (and local restaurants can even prepare your catch).

Cavelossima Beach

By taxi you can travel north to the spice plantations or visit Mobor - the largest and bustling tourist center in south Goa.

Cavelossim offers tourists many shows and a variety of parties: fireworks, dance shows, performances of acrobats and magicians, discos on the beach, barbecue or seafood nights will serve as a pleasant continuation of the day's relaxation.

Not far from the bustling Mobor beach in Goa, another recreation area will be located. The name of this place is Cavelossim. It is called fishermen's beach. This is the place where you can find the freshest fish and seafood.

History of origin

It just so happened historically that this beach attracted wealthy elderly European tourists. There is practically nothing worthy of attention in the village, but on the beach you can admire dolphins and entertain yourself with go-karting. You will be surprised by the variety of water activities. Many expensive hotels have been built in this place, but you can stay cheaper, for example, rent a room or hut from one of the local residents.

Architecture

It's nice to walk on the soft white sand of Cavelossim Beach. Here and there you can see black stones - frozen lava. You can hide from the hot scorching sun under the palm trees. This is a clean and quiet beach. Its wide open spaces are quite uncrowded. There are many shops and souvenir shops here. Dolphins often swim to the shore. On a hired boat you can rush off to the sea. Cavelossim is an almost complete copy of another beach in the south of Goa - Varka. Only there are more dolphins here, and the nature is less interesting. The distance between them is only seven kilometers.

Neighborhood

When you start to think about choosing a place to settle, you begin to understand how difficult it is. Everyone has their own preferences. Some people will like Soleia Mio - it is a house on two floors. It is located near the river. Suitable for a large friendly company. You can stay in its four bedrooms with four baths, stroll on the terrace or in the garden. Air conditioning will save you from the heat. They have provided you with a TV and a well-equipped kitchen. You can reach the beach in just ten minutes on foot. The Koko cottages are located at the same distance. Each of them consists of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a veranda, an equipped kitchen; equipped with air conditioning. There is a swimming pool in the yard.
Hotel Ritriat is located much closer to Varca beach. It is a three-story Portuguese colonial style building with one hundred and six rooms. You can have lunch or dinner in one of two restaurants, which are thoughtfully located on the hotel premises. There is also a bar here. You can use the conference room. Children will be able to frolic on the playground, and you will be able to visit the gym, sauna, steam room or jacuzzi.

Note to tourists

Within Cavelossim there are a huge number of restaurants (sheks) that offer a variety of fresh and inexpensive seafood. This place has entertainment that is relevant for different times of the day and at different cost levels. During the day - a river boat trip or fishing. If you bring your catch to a restaurant, they will be able to cook it for you right away. The food will be delicious, which will double your pleasure from the fishing process. A walk on the beach is an excellent opportunity to look at exotic birds. Tired of peace and quiet - go to Mobor. It is one of the largest cities in Goa. The night fills Cavelossim with a completely different atmosphere. At this time, you can marvel at the skill of magicians and the flexibility of acrobats as much as you like, admire fireworks and dance performances, or go to a beach party and stay there until the morning.
